this game lives up to the name. it has great history and gameplay
however one flaw is you have to slowly take over each little camp which is takes too long. Sometime I usually like making my character really strong and storming the main camp like in the xbox 360 games or ps3.
PSP however makes you go from camp to camp and you cant just run into the enemy main camp.
Err...

This is not a great game. Maybe it's because I have played Dyansty Warriors 2, but I really don't like this game much. I woudn't suggest this game to gamers looking for really good games, but I really do like this myself.
Must get game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU ARE CHOOSING BETWEEN DYNASTY WARRIORS AND SAMURAI WARRIORS GET SAMURAI WARRIORS FOR THE PSP. IT IS A MUST GET GAME ONE THING I DIDNT LIKE IN DYNASTY WARRIORS IS A TIME LIMIT OVERAL YOU HAD TO GET TO A SUPPY DEPOT TO INCREASE YOUR TIME AND THE GRAPHICS WERE TERRIBLE I HATED THAT GAME I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SAMURAI WARRIORS: STATE OF WAR FOR THE PSP AND WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THE CLEAR, SMOOTH GRAHPICS, THE FRAME RATE IS AWESOME NO MORE SLOWING UP WHEN IN INTENSE BATTLES IT IS ALSO MUCH EASIER TO WIN IN THE BATTLES EVERY 50 KOS YOU EITHER GET A INCREASED IN STATIS OR A CHARM THE CHARM WILL HELP YOU OR YOUR ALLIES WIN AND TURN THE TIDES OF THE BATTLE IT IS VERY HELPFUL AS YOU PROGRESS INTO THE GAME YOU ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE MORE SUBOFFICERS WITH YOU TO HELP YOU OUT AND ONE THING I LIKE ABOUT THE SUBOFFICERS IS THAT THEY FOR ONE HELP YOU THE AI IS VERY SMART AND WILL HELP YOU INEED OF KILLING SOMEONE. YOU ALSO HAVE A CHANCE TO GET SOME SCROLLS WHICH WILL MAKE YOU EVER MORE STRONGER TO INCREASE SOME OF THEM YOU NEED TO KILL AND KILL MORE TROOPS TO GET BETTER STATIS. ONE THING I DIDNT LIKE WAS THE MULTIPLAYER GAMES YOU GOT TWO CHOOSES EITHER VANGUARD OR BANDIT. VANGUARD YOU TRY TO KILL AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN TO HAVE A CAPTAIN APPEAR THE FIRST PERSON TO KILL ALL 5 CAPTAINS WINS. AND BANDIT IS THE PERSON WHO REACHES 10,000 GOLD FIRST OR THE PERSON WITH THE MOST GOLD WHEN TIME RUNS OUT, THERE WAS NO ONE ON ONE BATTLES BETWEEN FRIENDS OR OTHER PEOPLE WITH THERE SUBOFFICERS TO HELP THEM I WISH THERE WAS BUT THERE WAS NOT THAT KIND OF CHOOSE. I LOVE THIS GAME WAY MORE THAN DYNASTY WARRIORS AND I HOPE THIS REVIEW WILL HAVE YOU UNDERSTAND ALITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS GAME BEFORE YOU GO CHOOSING A PSP GAME.

This game is an excellent game !I do love this game. The male characters are really handsome (Yukimura,Magoichi,...),The female characters are so cute and beautiful (Ina,Oichi,...).But I can't understand why there 's some characters from a game named "Dynasty Warriors",what 's the relationship between them ?.Anyway,It has an excellent graphic, the music is great too !.This game is different from many game which I played before. It isn't the kind of "Face to Face" action game,I think It combines 3 kinds of games :"Face to Face" action,"chaotic war" and somethings like RPG (Because we can level up the characters, learning skills, fighting with other characters in the same time and finding weapons.More over,It has the history of each character and officer. It has 19 main characters,It 's a big quantity but I opened all the main characters in a very short time. That 's too bad because when a player play this kind of game, the only important purpose is openning all the main characters !When all the main characters were openned, that means "The end" and nothing more to do !That 's the main reason that I think the fun of game is 4 stars. After all I really like this game !I 'll never forget this game,I wish I can play the game "Samurai Warriors State of War 2" someday !

This is simply the best game out for the PSP to-date! It has tons of characters to level up and pretty good storylines for each of them. Each character has their own special talents and weapons that compliment them. Weaponry ranges from fans to swords, to guns...and there's tons more!!! This game has the best graphics out of all of the PSP games I've played and it looks to have better graphics than most of the current PSP releases from what I've seen as well. The fun factor for this game is off the charts! The fact that you unlock new chracters each time you complete a chapter of a character's storyline make for some serious replay time. This was the first and only game I bought with my PSP last year and I'm still playing this game over and over again! If you don't have yet you really need to get it into your game collection ASAP!!!
fun button-masher - lots of eye-candy

This is a port of a game that was written for other platform(s), but I've never played the original so I cant compare. All I can say is - Nice graphics, minimal load times (no loading during the fight!), music that doesnt annoy, kewl sound-effects, an interesting story, and your choice of characters that get to level-up as the game goes on combine to make a pretty good game. I really enjoyed going into the multi-enemy battles and watching my character spank the opposition. four difficulty settings make it easy for a newbie (and not a terribly great gamer) like myself to get involved with no real frustration. The fairly simple controls are complicated enough to allow a serious gamer to pull off some good-looking and devastating stunts.
If you've never played this so far - you get your pick of a bunch of samurai-type warriors that you will use to lead a force into battle. There's a lot of individuality in the bunch - each one has his/her own look and set of advantages and disadvantages. Also you'll get the opportunity to play each one if you want to complete the whole game, and each character will level up as you play him or her (and get better equipment and moves.) There are unlockable characters (I've only unlocked one so far) Also, every campaign will unlock a series of generals that you will take with you into battle - it's kewl to have friends. (the generals are figures in Japanese history, and each comes with a short biography.)
my only complaint is that so far I havent found a way to control the perspective - annoying since sometimes the thing I need to beat up is out of shot, so it looks like I'm hitting air, or worse I get hit in the process of trying to find the target. there is a heads-up display with a radar, so I'm not too concerned about the perspective issue. I like the game enough that I think I'm just gonna get used to it.
if, like me, your primary motivation is to get out there and spank a bunch of stuff and not have to think to hard doing it, this is definitely it.
