This game is really fun to start because it all seems new when you start but as you continue you feel like you've been doing the same thing for the past hour running, shooting, stabbing, watching things blow up (which really is a fun part of the game to watch.) But excluding the repetitive play it's just fun to get new items and see new aliens or ETI. Also this game has really good graphics for the PSP. As said earlier by others this game would be great with some challenges that aren't run shoot, stab, run. One thing i think that really isn't big is if they would talk in the cut-scenes instead of being like a comic book which is what was probably intended. But overall this game is fun and I recommend not playing for hours because it will become boring (or atleast thats how I feel)
A great game with a few annoyances

If you played Monster Hunter Freedom, Bounty Hounds will feel oddly similar, yet this time it's set in a spacey-futuristic world rather than that screwy dark ages.
Taken from the third person view, you play as a mercenary for hire to go to four different planets and wipe out all the bad, nasty aliens. Apparently, in the future, we totally gave up on connecting with other life and instead just kill them and take their planets and stuff. Even though this sounds mean, you won't feel the pity as you play the game. The action is nearly non-stop with baddies coming in wave after wave, and you can swing and shoot in beautiful visuals and graphics to kill them all. The graphics are astouning for the PSP platform, the scenery and baddies all look and explode with great visuals that will make you want to kill again, over and over. You do get a huge load of weapon choices as the game says, everything from guns, lasers, rockets, swords, flaming swords, hammers, yada, yada, yada. Also in your backup are a neat new thing called fields. You can use one that gives you a three hit personal shield and lets you pull off some super attacks and 8 or so other fields you can throw at your oppononts and cause a ton of different effects within them. Some increase your attack or defense when you are in them, others decrease their attack and defense or stun, slow down, and many others to allow a slew of different combat styles. In a heated battle, you can attack like crazy with your two weapons, use a field for backup, switch your current weapons for two new ones in a flash, and keep the killing spree going. Thanks to the weapons and armor enemies drop, you'll have a huge variety of combinations to try to increase your power. A thing i like is that the RPG element goes to the basic, but not so deep as to make it confusing.
Now for some of the annoyances. There are basically 2.
1)The biggie: the camera. If you played MHF, you know about the camera issue. Its good, but it can be the cause of a lot of missed hits and restarts. The scheme is the camera stays fixed untill you hit the L button to reset the view to behind you. It's okay, but can sometimes be frustrating and takes some time getting used to.
2)The story: There doesn't seem to be much of a story, but you probably weren't looking for that here though, were ya? There is a cast and stuff going on that explains why you are killing so much, but it can be hard to follow as it tells the story in a kinda limited-animation, graphic novel style cutscenes. At some points, there were cutscenes that acted as if these 'comrads' were right there with me, but you'll never see them in a fight, only will you see them chillin on your ship the Quicksilver.
-All in all, the game is basically a fun as heck , hack and slash with a bit of RPG mixed in. It's fun, and can get repetative sometimes, but only sometimes. The camera takes some getting used to and the story is kinda.....lost.
Graphics: Some of the most beautiful stuff on the PSP to date.
Sound: Great music and sounds to go along with the killing.
Gameplay: Takes some practice and time, but the gameplay is pretty solid.
How long will is last: The game can stay fresh thanks to the challenge mode and ad hoc multiplayer battles. Yet, too much play can give you that bored feeling. Don't play it too straight.
-A good game overall; sure to please.
Great gameplay, great graphics, some issues

The game play in this game is very nice. I've found myself playing nothing other than this game for hours - the storyline is pretty nice and there is definitely a lot of action. The universe is filled with hundreds of items, and there are near-endless combinations for your wearables, and therefore what you look like.
The controls are quite well thought out, and make the game very easy to play, and yet very interesting. The main killer with this game, however, is the graphics. The graphics are stunning.
As said in previous reviews, the sound is okay - it's not perfect, but it's not bad either. It's the standard RPG-style sound scheme - background music and sounds of guns and swords.
The only gripe I have with this game is the camera angle. It gets VERY annoying at times, especially when you move between rooms. It takes some getting used to and can be a complete pain at times. If they had put together a static camera angle, the game would easily get 5-stars from me.
All in all, this game is a great pick for the RPG fan who wants to game it up on the PSP.
Exceeded My Expectations

First off, I have to agree with S. Bartle "Guardian 42" this game really reminds you of Monster Hunter in terms of Gameplay, but a lot faster paced. This game really can be FUN at times, mainly because of the RPG elements in the game. But I have to admit that the repetitive gameplay and lack of a better more understandable story really hurt this title for me. So for those of you who don't want to read any further, I suggest this as definitely a rental, or to purchase if you REALLY want an average Hack and Slash game with RPG elements or if just don't have any other great 3rd person shooters to play. Now on with the review...
Graphics - 4.5 - Actually are great!! I'd say definitely some of the BEST graphics I have seen on the PSP, I was actually pretty impressed!!
Sound - 3.0 - Okay, nothing amazing here at all! Typical action background music.
Controls - 4.3 - Also pretty darn good, surprisingly. I actually have no complaints here good lock on system for ranged weapons and good reaction time for melee weapons. Only thing I may have added is a button to make "MAX" sprint, but other than that good solid controls.
Gameplay - 3.0 - Okay this is where and why I decided to give this game a 3 overall. First of all the camera does suck but is very tolerable. The gameplay seems pretty fresh at first, but after the "go here kill everything and return with spoils of battle and move to the next area to do it all again", gets old to me quick. They could have thrown in a few puzzles or mini games to break the monotony. But rarely is there a surprise or change that keeps you interested. I love RPG's so that was the only thing that honestly made me want to keep playing this game, that being leveling up, buying and modding new weapons and armor. This game actually could have been GREAT!! With a better more understandable story that maybe tied in to the gameplay more. Maybe add in a combo system, a solid puzzle here and there. All in all the idea of this game is fresh in a sense of the menu and RPG elements but again very repetitive gamplay, and not very challenging.
So overall, if you are a Hack and Slash game fan and you like RPG's, you PROBABLY won't be TOO disappointed, but if you are like me and need just a little more out of your gameplay experience than just "go here kill everything and return with spoils" just rent this one. I will have to say honestly that I didn't expect too much from this game so all together it did exceed my expectations, but it could have been a LOT better.
I personally am a fan of lots of Genres of games, with the exception of a lot of strict car driving/racing games, so I did enjoy this game for what it was, and it was pretty fun. Sometimes though seeing a games potential can ultimately hurt it. Especially when it falls really short of reaching that potential.
