Another great game that gives Madden run for the money. However, this game is a completely different type of game and is not intended for kids.

Here is the game and some features:

A Campaign Mode, which in addition to actual football, lets you control the politics-side of the game. As a manager/coach, you have to win at any cost, which means you have to lay dirty hits on other team's players. You actually get paid for it. You also get paid for causing massive injuries to the other team. Speaking of injuries, if one of your players gets injured, you have a choice between taking him out of the game or "juicing up" and giving him an illegal suppliment and send him back into the game!

When you win a game; your team earns money. You can spend money in several ways: You can buy legal/illegal suppliments; You can buy better equipment(fast shoes, hard-hitting shoulder pads, bullet-proof helmets) and you can also place a wager on your own game(Hmm, did Pete Rose inspire this element?) So, if your team is favored by 8 points, you might think about skipping extra-point attempt and going for 2 at the end of the games.

About drug-use: You can buy illegal drugs to boost your player's abilities. However, you might get fined if your player gets tested positive. If you want to avoid that, you can actually buy clean urine samples(Hmmm, isn't this a scene from ESPN's PLAYMAKERS?)

The game play itself is simple: You pick a play and go with it: Don't expect fancy audibles or motions - just pick a play and go with it! Every time you score a TD or cause an injury or perform a fancy play, you earn an icon. Earn 6 icons and you earn special ability to perform special moves to help you win.

You can also unlock some features, modes and even cool stuff like behind the scene videos with Bill Romanowski and Lawrence Taylor and even FHM magazines sexy cheerleader photos.

The downside of the game is mostly long loading times. On average, you will wait 2 minutes before the game starts. Also, some longer games will lag up. Sometimes the game will crash, so make sure to have your autosave mode on. Sometimes computer AI will make dumb decisions in terms of whether going for extra point or going for two, but that's tolerable.

Overall, this game will be enjoyed by most football fans; however, be aware of the MATURE-Rating because of all the cursing, drug-using and violence. If you want a game for a non-mature gamer, stick to Madden or if you are looking for an alternative to Madden, give NFL Street 3 a try(My review available for that title as well.)
