Great team-strategies development game!!!

I think that, while the graphics may sometimes be difficult to watch, the real value of this game is that it teaches you to cooperate.

It has helped me to play along with my 4-year son, instead of against him. We work together towards an objective, and help each other. And since he watches the TMNT cartoon, he is very familiar and excited with the characters and scenarios. Although I'm not a big fan, I do appreciate the entertaining value of the game.

The Problem with this game is that I had more fun in the 30 minutes it took to finish the classic "TMNT" arcade game (and playing it) than i did in the reist of the game. Now while they did town down the anoying catchohrases, and there is now 4 player mode there is still some major problems. Picking up objects is needlessly complec. tricky jumps seem to require more luck than skill, the camera is just crap. Boss battles are tedious the vechile mission are reminisant of the enter tha matrix driving (which sucked). And the actually fighing in this game is a big joke. All of thouse reason make this game just S**T

I played this game for 5 minutes and i realized that this game is basically just hitting enemies and thought the makers of the game thought all they needed to do was put in a 4 player mode and the game will be good. So only get this game if you are willing to play with a friend, but if your usually alone get a cartoony game like paper mario and the thousand year door it's great.

At least I got the original Arcade Game from it

This game really has too many strikes against it to call it anything but bad.

It's a hack & slash game continuing from another hack & slash game. You could go straight from playing the first game to playing Battle Nexus and it would seem like your still playing the same game without missing a beat. There are very few things this game has over the original. It doesn't have the irrating Adam West Batman pop-ups every time you hit someone and it doesn't have the turtles saying the same thing every five seconds. Other than that, it's the exact same thing you left off with in the first game.

One good feature that made me at least give it that second star is the inclusion of the original arcade game. In reality, I'd say this will be the main reason most people would even give Battle Nexus a try. It's only for the die-hard nostalgic collector, however. Players who never played the original arcade game would most likely find the game archaic by todays standards.

Even with the Arcade game, Namco completely changed the music in it. It also allows infinite credits so you absolutely can not lose the game. So there's really no challenge to it anymore. It's still a nice game to play if your only in it for the nostalgia factor.

Final grade: The main game has nothing to offer you didn't already get from the original. Hack & slash get's boring after a while. Plus one star for the original Arcade game for the nostalgia hunters only. Definetaly an easy one to pass up.

You know how reviews sometimes go, "...if you liked that, you'll love this!" well this might be one of those reviews. I did enjoy the 2001 TMNT. Of the improvements I did wish for, more players (like the old coin-op Turtle game) was at the top of my hypothetical list. And may I say, "boy does TMNT 2:Battle Nexus deliver that one!" And if "More settings and scenes" was on that increasingly imaginary list of mine, then Battle Nexus is on that one too! So many settings, in fact, that the Game Cube ed. has 2 discs, although part of the need for extra space may come from the hidden "Arcade TMNT game" and other extras like multiple Tournaments. The actual game play isn't as smooth as in the 2001 version, but the graphics are better and hooks like player grades and MVP awards are excellent distractions.

Best Game Ever for the turtles

I always wanted this game and I got it. It's real fun because you get to be all four turtles. Also you can be different people like Spilnter. The levels are so fun. You can also ride s snow/skate broad. The first boss you beat is Hun. He's really easy to beat. So play is game.

Brawlers are not platformers

I'm actually playing through this series backwards. I bought the 3rd game despite it getting critically panned and I liked it, so I figured I'd give the second game a try too. Unfortunately, this game deserves its horrible reviews.

The thing that seperates this game from the third (and probably the first) is the platforming elements. Like a 3rd-person action game you'll be forced to hop across platforms, activate switches by jumping on them, etc. This part of the game fails miserably. Jumping is a stiff and painful affair, and you'll fall to your death several times in some of the levels. Making matters worse is that once you lose all your life, it's back to the beginning. No mid-level saves here to make things easier. Removing these platforming elements could have made the game a lot more enjoyable.

Really, Konami forgot they were making a brawler here. Horrible jumping sections aside, the levels aren't that populated with bad guys and the attack combos aren't satisfying. The old arcade game (which can be unlocked on this disc) was called a button-masher for a reason. It threw so many enemies at you that you were busy mashing buttons to stay alive. What TMNT 2 ends up being is neither a good adventure game nor a good brawler game. And in the oddest trick of all, it asks all players to share a life bar. I guess this was to encourage cooperation to protect less experienced players, but what it really does is put the burden on that player to not screw things up for everyone.

It's unfortunate the gameplay stinks, because the production values are decent. I like the cel-shaded look, they got the cartoon voice actors to reprise their roles, and use a lot of clips from the series. There's even some "new" animation in here, but its off-model and stiffer than a bad anime program. Whatever. And again, the inclusion of the classic arcade game is a huge bonus.

I really can't recommend TMNT 2, except it might be worth it if you unlock the arcade game, which is buried reasonably far in the main levels. Unless you collect all things Turtles, skip this one and grab the third one, which is a real button-masher and not this sorry excuse for fun.

kids still play the game 6 months later

My boys 5 & 7 have enjoyed this game. We finally completed it after about 6 months of gameplay. I enjoyed the cooperative nature of the game and the shared lifeline ensures that they work together. This game required them to problem solve to determine which technique would allow them to advance levels. This game was sufficiently entertaining and challenging for small children, the presumable turtle market, and a challenge for novice gaming parents as well.

This game is good and I like when you hit someone it says somthing becaus you know you hit them and their is know bar showing how much life they have left. I hate thoes bars. The grafics are not as good as the third but you can unlock arcade games whitch is a cool featcher. Best about the game is you can play as splinter, CaseyJones, and April Oniel. Can you belive that April Onieal she can really fight. She is not the damsel in destress like in the movies. If you ar a TMNT fan this is a game for you.
