Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is almost identical to Pokemon Colosseum, except for several changes were made to make the game much more interesting and fun to play. For example, the graphics are improved, battling has been slightly altered, and you have a new character to start out the game with. As with any game, this game has its pros and cons.
Pros:
- A wider choice of Pokemon to use throughout the game
- Straightforward storyline
- The problem-solving and puzzle parts of the game are not too difficult to figure out
- Much better graphics
- Easy controls
Cons:
- Battling can become monotonous
- Not too much depth to the storyline
- Not a whole lot to do after the game is beaten
- Not much appeal for replayability
In all, the game is good, but there are a few minor and occasionally irritating drawbacks that affect gameplay. However, depending on how big a fan you are of the Pokemon franchise, these drawbacks can be overlooked.

Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness is more than just a remake of Colloseum. The story is that Cipher is back with 86 new shadow pokemon. Also, Shadow Lugia is a project by the leader of Cipher to create an un-purifyable shadow pokemon. However there is one way to purify Shadow Lugia. That's up to you to figure out! Shadow pokemon are pokemon that have had the door to their hearts shut. A new hero has to snag and purify all the shadow pokemon. The graphics have greatly improved since Colloseum. The pokemon have newer and better move detail.

POKEMON XD:GALE OF DARKNESS IS EASILY A SEQUEL WORTH CHECKING OUT EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE ORIGINAL. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW, XD TAKES PLACE IN ORRE, 5 YEARS AFTER THE ORIGINAL GAME. CIPHER AND TEAM SNAGEM ARE BACK BUT CIPHER HAS SEVERED THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THEM SO THE LATTER ISN'T TOO HAPPY. YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE WORLD, TAKEDOWN A DISCO KING WHO DANCES DURING BATTLE, AND PREVENT YOUR GUT FROM BUSTING FROM THE FUNNY MOMENTS.

i've never played colosseum or any of the gameboy pokemon games, although i plan on getting emerald which looks pretty good. i used to think pokemon were kids-only games, but changed my mind and picked this up because previously i figured i was too old for mario as well but the greatness of paper mario: the thousand year door set me straight. well pokemon xd is pretty cool and the graphics are outstanding. yes i wish like some of the other reviewers that you could wander around the world and capture pokemon in the wild (you can capture some at three spots in xd), but it's not too big of a deal. it's mostly a battle-and-collect-them-all game, with some rpg elements. overall it's a fun game that i would recommend. i've got to cut this short because there are still a few shadow pokemon out there i've got to capture.
the nintendo DS rules!

I bought this game from ToysRus a couple days after it came out. It was exciting all the way for the first few days. After that, there was not much fun left in it. The game went too fast and made you easily bored.after beating the game, all you could do was capture the rest of the shadow pokemon you missed. The wild pokemon spots are the worst thing in the game. The pokemon that appear there are pokemon you'd rather knock out than capture. It's so annoying that on the spot radar you can't tell what pokemon is at the spot. It only shows which spot is responding. This game was very easy and the makers could have made a better game. They need to improve the types of pokemon you catch and the wild poke-spots.
Overall, I am somewhat disappointed at what I have purchased. It is very exciting to capture shadow lugia, but once you capture it, is there any fun left? For me, there isn't.
Better than Colosseum? Not exactly.....

I rented this game for two weeks. I liked it for the first few days, then got increasingly bored with it. It lacked something that Colosseum had, that was: balance.
Most of the Pokemon you catch are repeats of the old ones, sometimes higher evolutions, sometimes lower. The only new Pokemon you catch is Lugia, but it doesn't even really count because of the Pokemon events.
About the balance thing: You know how Colosseum had all the version specific Johto Pokemon from FireRed and LeafGreen? This one doesn't have a complete set of anything. You say, "How about FireRed and LeafGreen's original 150 Pokemon?" Nope, some are missing, say, Krabby and Kingler. Colosseum was good, also, because the Mt. Battle training was open to all levels. This one isn't open to half. Mt. Battle has drastically disimproved; sometimes the training levels skip from 40 (the end of an area) to fifty (the beginning of a new area).
Also, one more thing about the wild Pokemon: you can only catch 9. Yes, nine. That's it. I'll name them ALL: Sandshrew, Gligar, Trapinch, Hoppip, Phanphy, Surskit, Zubat, Aron, and Wooper. Not a lot, eh? Yeah.
So, that's about all I have to say. Generally, the bad things overcome the good things.

I rented Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness at a nearby Blockbuster. When I first made a file it took me about a half an hour to 45 minuts to find Levi(I made 2 files and didnt find Levi). If you really want that game you MUST get the guide book. Trust Me.

My review of this game, is simple, it was good in some areas, and bad in others. In the aspect of it being an RPA game, i think that it was a total disaster, in the form of it being a fun adventure game, i think that this game hit it off, and deserves a follow-up game, but also, I think that the next game should be more involved with the art of actually CATCHING the pokemon, not just fighting in some arena with them...That's my review....I hope you found it helpful.
PS.Oh, and another thing, whoever "big el" or whoever that reviewer was, it might be helpful, the next time you review a game on an english site, that you review the game in ......ENGLISH! because whatever you were doing, (not sure what it was) it was sure as heck not english.
