A must play...

I have to say that if you are or have ever been a lover of Tolkien's world, you have to play this game. The Hobbit is my favorite book of all time, so of course I jumped all over this game.

The story connection is rich and full of references to all the hobbit books. But it goes beyond that. The parts of the book that in my opinion were too rushed (such as the harrowing journey to the troll camp) in the book are extended. And I'm telling you: Bilbo's battle with the spiders is exciting and difficult in itself. You LIVE the book through Bilbo, and middle earth comes alive for you.

I wish I could rate this a 10, but the scales don't go that high.

Pretty fun game

Love Zelda? You'll like The Hobbit

The Hobbit is a third person action adventure game that owes a lot to Zelda. Nothing wrong with that-if you're gonna be influenced by something it might as well be the best. The game feature Bilbo in a mix of combat and puzzle solving that will appeal to all ages. The controls are easy to learn, and the game features something Zelda doesn't have-outstanding voice acting, The pretty graphics really draw you into Middle Earth.

The main drawback with the game is the camera control. It is not as good as over in Hyrule. Bilbo doesn't seem to need the ring whenever the view is tight on him-he already disappears. As well I almost had to push restart were it not for a lucky jump to get me unstuck.

Jumping is something you do a lot in The Hobbit-no auto-jump here. Also the combat system is a bit harder then Zelda. While the targeting sytem is similar, the supporting cast of baddies don't back off when you're locked on a foe like they do in Ocarina/Wind Waker etc. But maybe that's better as one complaint with WW was it was too easy.

But any minor camera issues do not take away from the appeal of this fun, colourful, engaging game that will appeal to all kinds of gamers.

This game is played, sort of as a zelda game, but it's a little less free-range as it is played through with Chapters. It's a very good game, definitely worth the buy, but some of the Chapters can be very, very long, particularly "Over Hill and Under Hill". but I'd say it's worth the buy

Loved it from start to finish!!

Though I haven't played "The Hobbit" yet, I have seen a large number of screenshots, a few trailers, and a few reviews (such as Nintendo Power), and I think this game is going to rock. You play Bilbo Baggins and you can fight hordes of orcs and goblins, with your dwarven allies and gandalf, and you can also use your walking stick or sword sting. You also fight trolls and smaug, and there are memorable moments from the books, such as the three trolls and Gollum's Cave.

Wow Wasnt Expecting That!!!

Best action adventure game ever! You play as the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and go through 11 highly graphic and long levels. You solve puzzles, battle enemies like goblins, spiders, and trolls.
Tolkien would be suprised at this incredible game. The levels are not too hard nor easy and follows the book almost exactly!
I would say much more about the game but I dont wanna spoil the secrets. If your looking for a game with action and adventure this is it!

One of the Best Games Ever!

I have dozens of GameCube games and this is just about my all time favorite. First of all the graphic (Lands) are fantastic. It is a nice long game with Many levels. Game play is smooth with plenty of weapons options. Bilbo is a little guy, but it doesn't make any difference to his abilities. I played this game all the way through with no help from cheats. It is very challenging. I recommend an ActionReply cheats disc though. It's great having unlimited lives.
There are many treasure chests throughout the levels. But they require lock picking to open. If you do it wrong you can be killed.
This was my least favorite part of the game. But can be over come with ActionReplay. In the lands you start in Hobbiton. This level, for anyone who loves the book, is especially nice. You even go in the Hobbit Hole. As the game progresses you go through
Caves and Mines, Climb to the tops of Mountains, Go to Lake Town,
Smog the Dragon's Lair and Much more. This is a great Action Platformer that touches on Role Playing.
