The above product description provided by Amazon is fairly accurate except for the fact that there are only three (3) guys to pick as a possible husband in this female version of Harvest Moon. The main reason I gave the game four stars instead of five is for the choices of the possible husbands.
The opening is very similar to the original A Wonderful Life, with the same characters from the first Gamecube game. So far, no new people (I'm still in chapter 1). Your father owned the farm and you have been living in the city. He died a little while back and you have decided that you want to escape the pressures of the big city to settle down in a small village and work on a farm. If you wish to continue past the 1st chapter, you have to get married. I think the first game had better choices of who to marry, but in Another Wonderful Life your choices are the following: Marlin, Rock, and Gustafa (personally, I would have preferred Cody as a possible choice...oh well).
Just like A Wonderful Life, Another Wonderful Life consists of four season per year and only 10 days per season. It consists if more real time action (especially in regards to the weather) than other Harvest Moons have allowed.
You'll be able to raise around four types of cows as well as horses, chickens, ducks, sheep, and even goats. Eventually you'll be able to make cheese and butter and improve the quality of your crops.
Despite the similarities, there are some new features to the game...and perhaps even more than I have found out.
Some of these changes include:
You can now sell your basic crops and seeds...not just your 2nd generational crops/seeds.
You have to fertilize your grass pasture before your animals (cows, sheep, horse) can graze on it. This is similar to the other Harvest Moon games where you had to buy and plant grass seeds (only cheaper). They do grow back after cutting the grass (just the same as the other games). Fortunately, you are provided with enough fodder to feed your beginning cow until then.
You now have a training feature for your dog.
Seeds from Vesta are now cheaper...you can get all 5 basic fruit trees with your starting money and still have change.
You can now see the affection and health levels of your animals.
I imagine that the rest of the story line is nearly a mirror image of the first Gamecube game, so if you have already played that and finished it this may not be too different - but it may also give new insight to some of the other characters that you thought you already knew.

Yes this game is really a must have. All the glitches are fixed and the characters are much more developed, especially the guys. Plus there are so many more options that make this game so appealing. I think that you must have had played the original to appreciate this one.But this game is excelent to girls 10 and up cool game. Also the boys are cool too. You or your kid can choose between 3 people that other girls are fight you for.
Rock- he's a party dude he dosen't like work but if you get to know him he's cool and fun to be around. His rival is a 12 year old girl named Lumina. (pesonaly he's my favorite okay)He is also the easiest.
Gustafa- He's your average hippie but he likes flowers and stuff. He's medium. His rival is a red headed girl named nami. (he's okay but his child looks weird.)
Marlin- He's very closed and cold to anyone execpt Celia. So it's hard to get his atention. (he's not my favorite but i like his kid.)
(...)
I think this game rox buy it and see.
This is a great seris and is like a realistic fiction but it gives you a break from a hard day it actually relives my stress so much i like it. If you arn't a blod and gore type of girl then check this game out.

The company who made the original game took Harvest Moon a wonderful life and added this "ANOTHER" title for the option of playing this version as a girl. But other than that and the glitches in the original that actually helped you make money a little easier they have done nothing but repackaged the same game to make money on it twice.
You still have to go square by square to plant, hoe and water your crops. From the 1st game this should have been upgraded with each new Hoe, Sickle, Water pail you purchase it should have made it easier for you to work your crops instead of the 1 by 1 style, which takes up most of your time since you have to water about twice a day (unless it rains). With each upgrade to those items they should have made them go up like 1, 2, or 3 for example so you had a few options. I was wishing it would just rain everyday after a while.
I do like the fact that I get to play as a girl but the game itself is exactly the same as the 1st version of this game. I found this highly disappointing even though I'd wanted the option to play as a girl the 1st time around. They should have started with you picking your character, but instead they began with a male character, sold a number of copies of that and now offer up a female character(because that is all you are paying for if you buy this game is a female character the game is exactly the same).
As far as I can tell your spouse does nothing on the farm to help you out after marriage so you are still doing everything yourself.
I was looking forward to the version they were preparing for the PS2 but after this one I think I'll just keep my money where it is.
For those that haven't played the Harvest Moon A wonderful life game I do highly recommend the game but pick before hand whether you want the male or female game. I had high hopes that they'd added more than a girl to this game, but was highly disappointed.

I Just reveiwed MFoMT, and I said in the end to buy this game so that you could connect and recieve the benifits from Van's shop (i.e. records not available otherwise) and just plain gossip about the people of both communties in the games. I've played the first one, and was very pleased with it, I've played almost all Harvest Moon games still in circulation, finally the silly blue hat was gone. When I heard about this new one for girls, I instantly placed my order, people fail to notice the extra clothes she gets, the mirror, and all the other hidden quirks. And is it just me or does the game run smoother than the last one? Meh. Also how can the two-star reveiwer complain about watering?! GET A GRIP! In the end I say this is better in some little ways than the boy version, but or course that's my opinion, to each his or her own. SO, buy this game before they are snatched up by some crazy collector (like me, jk).
Stick with the original

Please save your money by buying the original Harvest Moon at half price. It is very nearly the same game--same townspeople, same conversations, same animals, same farm. If you remember the original, the girl has to choose from a few of the eligible batchelors (Gustafa, Marlin, or Rocky)--they didn't even add potential mates for her!
I don't know why Another Wonderful Life came out so long after the original because they basically kept the format, changed the boy to a girl, made a few subtle changes, and marked it for sale.
If you're a huge fan and want to check out the new version--rent it. Keep the old one and start over if you feel like playing the game again. Hopefully, I save you the $30 I wasted.

-You can see yourself going into a different part of the town unlike Save the Homeland

-The horse rolls in the dirt(its funny to watch)
-You can change and buy clothes

- Vesta's farm generates electricity using windmills and its cool
-You can train your dog
The Bad Things
-You are forced to marry someone or the game ends
-You always have a son(why can't you have a daughter instead?)
-There is only 3 different people to marry
-Rock is too easy to marry
-The town is really small
-When you link to your gameboy, you don't go to somewhere else, like animal crossing, and my friend and i where a little disappoiinted cause we were expecting to get to go to Mineral Town
-You can't go into the ocean
-The cow only gives one milk when you milk him
-You don't have the Very Fertile Field anymore!=(

-The cow only gives milk for a certain amount of time

-The pond is really stupid,it justs takes up room in your field
-You have to put fertilizer in your field!
-The music can get quite boring and you only get new music if you link to More FOMT
-There is no harvest goddess
-At one point the harvest sprites say that if you don't fish in the spring then a harvest goddess might come and if someone dosen't know that you can't ever have a harvest goddess than it might lead them to stop fishing in the spring in hope that a harvest goddess that dosen't exist might come
-You can't really tell which is the bathroom and wich is the shower when you get a kitchen
-Murrey sometimes steals from the food storage so im always afraid to put something in there
-The shows on the TV are really boring
Overall this game is really quite fun even though it could be better in some things. I like that it's so close to real life and that you have to be responsible for animals and crops if you want them to live and the townspeople ask you questions that you have a choice in what you say. I would definately suggest getting this game if you haven't already.

let me start by saying something about the game itself.
harvest moon for you who dont know the game is basically a farm life simulator for younger gamers. So like all those types of games you basically start with your basic package and trough hard work and patience you build up your farm and the relationship with your neighbors.
now that being said here is my review of harvest moon we'll get to the sequel in a little while.
1.graphics are good but lack imagination
2.sound and music are good but not great
3.story is fun but lacks depth and is very repetitive
4.game play is easy but puzzles might prove to be too much for younger players
5.ovrall an average game and fun for a while, the problem i have with it is the flow of the game wich is in my opinion way too slow and will make you loose interest in the game after the monotony sets in.What im saying is that not only nothing really happens but when you actually trigger a series of events it still doesn't change anything wich is very frustrating.Another issue i have is the lack of information no matter what you do wich is a big turn off and makes me wonder if the programmer actually played this game wich i doubt.
6.All that said im sad to tell you that the sequel is EXACTLY the same as the first exept that instead of being a farmer boy you are a farmer girl so i dont know if i recommend you spend good money on the first one but if you did please dont do it again on the sequel. You would have thought they would have tried to fix some of the major flaws that i mentionned but no so i found this game to be very offensive to me as a consumer and i writing this to try to save you from the same mistake i did.
so thats it for now
thanks for reading hope i could help
Worth buying if you are a Harvest Moon fan

One of my favorite experiences with a Harvest Moon game was with Harvest Moon 3 for the Gameboy. On that game, you could choose to be a boy or girl, and have a choice of animal (cat or dog). Since that game, though, Natsume split the girl and boy stories into two separate games for future releases -- a disappointing turn, since it's nice to have the option to play both genders.
So, the question on most people's minds would be, "What would make me buy this game for $30 and not A Wonderful Life for $20?" (or, "Why should I buy this when I already have A Wonderful Life?")
Put simply, this isn't just "A Wonderful Life with a girl", like others will tell you -- it's an all new A Wonderful Life (which could be called "version 1.5") with all kinds of neat updates and changes from A Wonderful Life:
- First, you get a chance to play a girl, which was never really done outside of Japan since the aforementioned Harvest Moon 3. The storyline, while on the whole the same, really does change quite a bit to match your new gender (since females wouldn't treat you like the same character as in A Wonderful Life). The beginning, especially, changes for the girl character -- instead of being "given the farm" like the boy character was, the girl was bored with the hectic life in the city and decided to move out to the country (Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of Mineral Town also have these beginnings).
- In A Wonderful Life, you have three options when viewing the diary: "Sleep", "Diary", and "Status Book". In Another Wonderful Life, this menu has been reworded and expanded into a much better diary menu:
- "Save": works just like "Diary" did
- "Sleep": same as before
- "Assets": This is NOT the same Status Book as before. While you still have some of the same options, there are all-new lists to look at that really help plan your farm even more (such as Diary and Produce Income and Item Lists)
- "Look in the Mirror": A new item that apparently works just like the mirror you can buy in Friends of Mineral Town. The mirror allows you to see your personal status -- the more tired you get, the more your character will mention it and the more tired she will look in the mirror.
- A brand new feature of this game is the addition of training your dog, and this is one of the best updates to the original game. In A Wonderful Life, all you could really do with your dog was pick him up and carry him around to show your affection -- not very exciting. Now you can train your dog to Give Paw, Turn Around, Jump, and Stand Up.
- You must now buy and use Vesta's fertilizer on your grass field to make it grow.
- A subtle change to the game is slightly sharper and smaller graphics, and smaller, slimmer text.
- New minigame challenges have been added: Teritory Capture and Milk Drinking. (These I picked up from the Assets screen, and haven't yet had a chance to play. There might also be more minigames, too...)
Overall, while the goals are pretty much the same as before, there is so much that is new here that Harvest Moon fans should not hesitate to buy it. Forget-Me-Not Valley is one of the best environments to come along in the Harvest Moon universe since Mineral Town, and now there are all kinds of new challenges and features that make it worth going back to for another farming adventure.
