Good, Clean Fun

The Sims 2 OFB Expansion Pack is probably more for simmers who like a challenge and who have experience playing the Sims and the Sims 2 games. Open for Business can be extremely tricky and boring if you are one of the simmers who rely on cheats and boolprop tricks, or if you are new to the games. DO NOT use this game as a starter...anotherwards, don't just think you can try it for the first time without playing the Sims 2 first. If you happen to be experienced in the game, then it's a great challenge and can have great rewards if you are patient.

Awesome Game

A very great sims the best so far that I have! I have had The Sims 2 Open For Business for about Two months now and I love this game so much and I have had my sims buy stores or start a home business. One thing I dont like about this game is when business people come and usualy say my business is bad and they will let others be aware that my business is bad. I recomend this game two all I hope they like it as much as I do

Very difficult to play.

I am addicted to the Sims1 and Sims2 games. But the Sims2 Open for Business is very difficult. This game could be fun, but it takes a lot of thought. It is for the very serious gamer with lots of time on his/her hands. I am sorry I spent my money on it.

Great! It's interesting!

At first I was a little upset, but then I really loved it! Sims have special options for old items, and "Public woo-hoo" in an elevator is now an option. The Sims can run any buisness basically, even a pool you have to charge for. There is more furniture, and you can sell almost everything! Also, a new cheat called, "Maxmotives" will max your sims needs. The sims even have "turn ons and offs" to see how compatible they are with others. It's so fun to make movie thearters, malls, hair-dressers, flower shops, and party stores! You'll never run out of new things to do! And for concered parents of the "public woohoo" and "public try for baby" I'll have you know that the sims don't really "do it" it's more of some kissing and a play fight.

pretty good fun

I've had the sims open for business for two days now... went to pick up a copy the moment it came out, and it was for $24 bucks! Anyhow, the game takes a while load, but overall, rarely any bugs. I tried to run 2 business in one lot, resturant and toy/flower shop. And let me tell you something, it was almost impossible with 8 employees! stick with one shop that sells one service. also, employees tend to need to take breaks A LOT. it was almost impossible to keep my employees happy when you have a busy shop, especially a resturant, because once you're opened for businness, a lot of sims come in and you really dont have time for them to breaks. Also, the host/hostess are annoying because they never do their job and they're on the phone all the time. if you were to play a resturant, have your own sim to be the host/hostess instead of NPC. i had to use one of my hacked objects that max out all of their needs in order to satisfy the demand.
some of the new items are pretty cool, overall its pretty fun.

Entertaining and slightly challenging

I really enjoy the Sims, but after a while of playing the same game, it does get a little repetitive. This expansion definitely picks up the pace. Being a business owner is rather difficult because now you not only have to take care of your Sim's needs, but you have to take care of all your employee's needs or they will quit on you! Have fun!!!

Another great section of sims!

I am yet another a Sims fanatic. Since I had already had experience with sims and a little experience with sims 2, I still found starting out kind of hard, but it gets much easier.
I have not had many bugs. There is only one that I have had and it's really small: If the open/closed sign is not on the door, customers cannot enter the building. Other than that, this game has no other bugs that I have run into (so far.) I'm so glad I bought this part of sims 2! This is a great game and a must buy for experienced sims players. If you're a rookie, wait a little while, then get the game. It's worth it.

Great Fun

Open For Business adds a new dimension to the Sims 2 gameplay. While the general style of the game is an open-ended sandbox where you just do whatever you want, this expansion is more goal-oriented, by allowing you to build up a business empire for your sims.

One thing that's worth noting as a downside is that if you want to run a business at an actual commercial lot, you'll have to travel to and from it on a regular basis. So, if loading screens bug you severely, keep in mind that the only way to avoid them would be to run nothing but home-based businesses. (Having the ability to own a car from the Nightlife expansion helps a bit, since it at least saves you the waiting-for-taxi time.)

The new workstations where you create toys, flower arrangements, and robots are nice and produce some useful items. You could even scrape along funding a sims life by creating items with one of these and then immediately selling them (either from manipulating the station or just dropping the item in buy mode). The profits this way are much smaller than you're likely to get from customers interacting with a good salesman, but you can get by.

But retail and service-based businesses are possible, and even possible on the same lot, which gives you a great deal of flexibility in creating the business you want to run. Nearly every object in the game is capable of being sold through stores, and if you want to build an entertainment facility where sims pay to hang out, anything that makes them feel like sticking around can be good for business.

It's nice to feel like you can actually participate in the way your sim earns a living, rather than just watching him go off to work every day to do something mysterious.

Remember to check the Sims 2 website for patches!

Great for the first twelve hours...

Overall, I've been extremely impressed with the quality of these new Sims 2 games. I love The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack and my recently purchased The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack. I mean, those are great. But, with this one, I think they went too far.

First of all, I couldn't wait to start my own business...the online reviews gave promises of haircutting salons, flower stores...everything. I opened up my game and was ready to play. When I got going, however, I had a lot of trouble making these stores they had talked about. I couldn't figure out how to give someone a makeover, though I tried many times.

The main problem with this game is that it is JUST TOO HARD to maintain a store. You have to hire employees who don't come in when they're tired. I choose to run businesses from home in little shacks next to the house so my people could go to bed when they got tired. I ended up getting hooked on the cheat: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true/false, which allows you to make all of your Sims happy or gives you forty friends, and basically every cheat you could ever think of. (NOTE: IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN HOOKED ON THE BOOLPROP CHEAT, DO NOT DO IT. IT TAKES AWAY FROM THE POINT OF THE GAME. I'M TRYING TO STOP USING IT, BUT IT'S REALLY HARD BECAUSE IT MAKES THE GAME SO EASY.) Anyway, it's just too hard to run a business.

I decided to stop making businesses and now I'm just using the regular occupations. It's a lot more fun and manageable. Plus, the newer games, like The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack and The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack add great new career tracks, like law, education, music, etc. They're great.

I've found that this game was a total waste of money. As you get addicted to the Sims, you just keep throwing down the dollars for whatever new game comes out. That's what I did for Sims (1). This time around, though, I'm considering which ones I really want. I didn't get The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack or The Sims 2: Nightlife Expansion Pack...they seemed like a waste. Sims The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack is a fun addition and The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack is one of the best ever. So, get one of those. Skip this one...it's not worth your 29.99 bucks or whatever unreasonable cost they gave it.

Better than the Apprentice

What a pleasure to see the consequences of your business decisions, both good and bad played out. I much prefer this game than watching reality shows where an obnoxious personality may stay longer just to drum up conflict. It's fun too.
