Surprisingly Excellent "Die Hard" Adaption!

I have to admit, I half expected to be let down from this game. I'm a HUGE die hard fan, and so I was worried that the game wouldn't have the same feel as the films... I needn't have worried. John is voiced by a very talented actor (who doesn't sound a ton like Bruce Willis, but deep down carries the spirit of John very well.) Even the street people have very good voice acting and are very believable. The levels are all very well designed, the music is stellar, and the story is excellent. I can't reccomend this FPS enough.

I bought this game at a bargain basement price and didn't expect much. Maybe that's why I am enjoying it so much when others haven't.
This game is a first person shooter that draws on characters from the Die Hard movies (primarily the first one), and I would say that anyone who has enjoyed "DUKE NUKEM" on other consoles would enjoy this... Better graphics than the ol' Duke Nukem games and yet still the sense of humor. This game does try to tease your brain with its puzzles, but it is not so difficult as to detract from casual game play.
You could be surprised at how much you may like this game....

This game kind of appeard under a lot of radars. There was little press about it, I only noticed it because I had been obsessing about the Die Hard movies for a few weeks, saw the title in the store and said "what the heck?" I was not dissapointed. I'm not a huge fan of these first person shooters, but I can make an exception for DHV. This game requires you to use a lot of stealth, something rare for a FPS. Rather than killing someone outright for a key like in some games, a little persuasion (along with a gun to the back of the head) is requires to advance.
The game features a good collection of weapons, from a standard issue police revolver to uzis. A big thing I love about this game is the effectiveness of the punch. In many games once you run out of ammo, you are dead, no hope. In DHV, you can still be very leathal without a weapon.
Real voice actors are used in the game. The voice actor for Bruce Willis is very good, and sounds just like Bruce. And yes, that is the dad from Family Matters as the police chief. That is his real voice! It adds a bit of athenticity to the game as a part of the Die Hard series. A note about dialogue: There is more swearing in this game than any I have ever played. Along with the mind numbing violence the game deserves the mature rating and people should use their own discression is buying this game. In short, use good judgement.
The levels are pretty generic. Despite this, a few are quite fun to replay over again. Streets of LA is an interesting level that requires lots of walking, the Police Department level is one massive fire fight as you combat the terrorists who are trying to kill John MacClain. The Prison level is very impressive. The amount of area to cover is huge, and it will demand more sneakiness then force. It's also a very creepy level with strange shadows thrown against the wall, and random fires burning in the halls. The levels present good challenges, but none so hard that you will find yourself screaming profane words at the screen. At no point in this game will you get so frusterated that you will smash your controller against the wall over a little point that you can't past.
I'd say this game is great but it does have some flaws. The story is kind of dry (how many Grubbers are there? Are they all evil art thieves?) and some levels can get tedious (sewers). But this is a game that deserves a second look from anyone who brushed it off as just another shooter. While not entirely orginal, it promises to keep one entertained long enough to want to get to the later, more sprawling levels. Its well worth it, epecially now that the price is down.

I quite enjoyed Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza on the PC. This game is done in the same first-person shooter style with much of the same voice cast. Vendetta has the advantage of multiple locations. The first game, obviously, took place entirely withing Nakatomi Plaza with many levels looking the same and hard to differentiate from each other. Vendetta has museums, prisons, streets, pool halls, police stations, observatories, fish factories and...Nakatomi Plaza, again.

It's a shame the RPG element of the game wasn't developed more. Instead of being yet another first-person shooter with the Die Hard name, a lot more could have happened if the gameplay had evolved from just running around and shooting. Fun it may well be, but a lot more it could have been too.

You get infinite lives too. And trust me...you need 'em. Along with roaming around levels there is also a lot of puzzle solving to be done. So take it from me, search EVERYWHERE for clues and items before throwing the joypad at the wall in a rage. Trial and error is the key to solving this game and even though it may take a zillion attempts you'll eventually make it all the way through. I did finish this game in 5 days after all. And I am absolutely rubbish at games.

Fun it is indeed. But very linear and not the kind of game you'd go back to once finishing. It's best to pick it up cheap, especially if you liked the first one.

this a horrible game. theres more bad stuf in the game than good.first off i did think that being able grab people as hostages was great.i also liked that he was alowed to say [profane words]. but if you ever notice most people face look the same in this game. also if you ever shoot at a window it doesnt break no sound nothing. the graphics are horrible they look like n64 graphics. and in some parts of the game u have to go jumping off edges and stuf com on thisis a shooting game not and adventure. also you cant really explore or go in another direction its just one way. everythings scripted and the peolpe know your here right away. like they know your supposed to go that way. the frame rate in the game is excelent cause the graphics [are bad]. and for a game that has great frame rate they should of atleast put a multiplayer like 007 cause its smoothe like this game. but they didnt. justsave your money its not worth it.

This is the best FPS I've played since Duke Nukem (which is still a great game). I really like the environments, and I love the action. It's fun to play, and it's one of the best titles on the Cube.

I saw hundreds of reviews on Die Hard Vendetta and most of them were bad. So I was in Best Buy the other day and saw it for [$$] bucks so I just picked it up. First of the flames and graphics are nice. Gamepro gave them a 1.5 out of 5 and it is not true. It is alot more better then The Sum Of All Fears I can tell you that. Well anyways I decided to check out what it had for guns wow over 20 diffrent weapons and gear. You get nightvision and other real cool gadgets. Now the story is very good for a movie game and everything I mean movie games never turn out good. The charecter models in the game are very nice looking and detailed. The controls are actually pretty nice not Timesplitters 2 but there nice lot's of options. The swairs get bad and nasty in this game. There is alot of blood even from you when you get hit. The best part about this game is you can grab anyone besides civlians and either arrest them get information out of them shoot them in the head or snap there neck. It is a pretty sick game but very good. I would say don't hesitate get Die Hard Vendetta it needs to be on your shelf. Oh yeah you need alot of stealth in this game also, and you have plenty of options to do that. When you do get this you will love the bullet cam, man is it awsome.

I have recently bought this game and have been mostly satisfied. I gave this game a 4 because some of the levels are quite challenging. In particular I had trouble with the tuna level just as another gamer has. As of [date]. I have still not beat it. I also gave this game a 4 because it has strong language using evrey word in the book. If you are a parent you might want to consider this. Over all, I thought this was a great game but the auto aim can be annoying when you are trying to take out 1 guy that has a gun to a hostage and take out his partner thus making the 1 with the gun panic and shoot the hostage.

*Die Hard Vendetta seems like a cool idea at first: a game based on the "Die Hard" movies as a first person shooter with an entirely new storyline. However, it ends up as a disappointment to anyone who has ever played superior first-person shooter games like Timesplitters 2 or any of the James Bond games.
*The graphics of this game are the worst I have seen on the Gamecube. Gameplay graphics are "ok", but the cut-scene graphics are absolutely terrible. Why even bother with the cut-scenes? The storyline is ridiculous, but that wouldn't bother me if the game offered more in the gameplay department.
*Controls can be very frustrating, falling from what seems like very short distances can take away more life than you expect. But even with these frustrating controls, the game turns out to be very, very easy. You could beat it in a day if you want.
*However, there are some cool things. Talking to individuals you come across can be very entertaining and helpful. Some of the objectives you pick up on your missions are actually pretty fun. The "auto-aim" is not as annoying as it can be in other first-person shooter games.
*In short, I'd advise you to rent this game first. It is certainly not the best, or most entertaining, shooter on the market. The language in the game is very strong, as if they added many excuses to drop the "f-bomb" just because they could. If you're a die-hard fan of the "Die Hard" series, then you might want to check it out. If not, you probably shouldn't bother.
