SimCity 4 Rush Hour

This game is fantastic because you can complete the new 'U-Drive It' missions and you can easily get Hi-Rises like 'Sheehy Condos' and 'Butts Condos' and 'Hi-Rise Tenement'. There is a cheat 'Dollyllama' that turns the advisors into Llamas!!!

Best Game Yet!

For the majority of those who own SimCity 4, and are thinking about this as the same old things, you will be absoloutely fooled! This completes SimCity 4. Trust me, everyone out there, that SimCity 4 is not complete with Rush Hour, like a Pie without Sauce!

The first thing is that Maxis have now implemented difficulty levels. I, and many other people, may have found the original SimCity too difficult. There are three cool new difficulty levels! You can play Easy, Medium, or Hard mode. In the 'Easy' mode, you start out with $500,000 and everything is so easy to manage!

I have not played the 'Medium' level, therefore I do not know what it is like, and its aspects, yet I have heard some talk about it. It turns out that the 'Medium' level is sort of in between the other two playing levels.

In the 'Hard' mode, you start out with $100,000, and it is much more complex. In the 'Hard' mode, things are hard to control, but there is a benefit from playing in this mode. The benefit is the fact that those annoying advisors will just shut their holes for a change! This is a huge benefit from the original SimCity.

The modes also helped me make larger cities. In SimCity 4, it was impossible to make a town of 10,000 Sims without falling into debt. Nah, not in Rush Hour, it turns out.

The best thing is yet to come. But, you can be a little personal by adding nametags to personalize your city. You click on any location with the 'Label' tool and type in what you want in the bar. You then press 'Accept' and it appears. If you do not want to view your labels, you can always go to the Label panel and click 'Off' fotr viewing nametags.

Another huge leap foward is that Maxis have created new buildings. There are heaps of varieties of new buildings to choose from. Maxis have now added heaps of new buildings in different categories. There are two new Police Stations, a cool new Fire Station, Large Elementary and High Schools, and heaps of new civic structures and services.

The new added feature everyone is going on about is the 'U-Drive It Missions'. I'm sorry to admit I haven't actually tried the missions yet, I just accept the 'Free Drive'.

The thing you've been waiting for folks, is now coming. You now get unlimited Transportation options! Highway Intersections are now that simple to place, you can build Elevated Rails, Rail Stations, Monorails, Subways, and more! The best things is the fact that Highways can now transitions into Avenues, which can transition into One-Way Roads. Avenues were needed to handle extra traffic.

There is only one weakness in the game, and I am going to admit that now. I'm sorry to say, my Sims don't use their brains and use the Avenues I have provided them with, therefore you end up seeing abandoned buildings all across the city just because they didn't use their brains and took the streets to work! Maxis need to fix that bug, and I really mean it!

Overall, this Expansion Pack was essential to fix the many problems with SimCity 4, and once again, Maxis have proven themselves successful! I think they should continue on with the ever-popular SimCity series which has been a success for 17 years now, before I was even born! This game is so awesome!! I recommend it to all you folks who have a Creative mind, just like me! I say Rush Hour is best of all the Sim series!

Perhaps the most dissapointing part of the Rush Hour experience was when my silly little sister cracked the disc, claiming that she didn't even touch it! I have now had to order another copy which is on the way. Even my brother has fights over who's turn it is to play this; he loves the game also.

(P.S.: Here are some cheats, that came in handy for me-
Ctrl+X, then a bar will appear at the top of the screen. Type in one of the following-
Hellomynameis- Change Mayor Name
Whereufrom- Change City Name
Howdryiam- Get rid of Water Requirement
Fightthepower- Get rid of Power Requirement
Dollyllama- Turns Advisors to Llamas
Weaknesspays- $1000)

(Warning: Never use cheats in the beginning of the game, otherwise your city will never develop)

(My biggest city so far is called White Hills, has Hi-Rises, and a population of 124,118 Sims)

AWESOME!!!

For those people who think this is no different from SimCity 4, and a waste of money, I can prove to you that this makes the game even more fun than ever before! Because I have this, I cannot be bothered to play just the SimCity 4.

The thing I really like about this game is that there are new disasters, not the boring old ones from SC4. Also, you can choose from four optional building sets. You can have a Chicago 1890 style, a New York 1940, a Houston 1990, and a Euro-Contemporary style. But, there are more things to come. Unlike SC4, there are heaps more buildings that you can unlock. Here are some of the new buildings: A Spaceport, A Cruise Ship port, A Marina, A Monorail Station, A Car & Passenger ferry terminal, A Deluxe Police Station, A Fire Department Landing Strip, A Police Kiosk, A Large Capacity Elementary School, and a Large Capacity High School. But, more. You also have more transportation options. You can place a Monorail Network, A Ferry Route, Elevated Rails, Ground Level Highways, and even Wide Avenues. It is now much easier to connect cities and create deals.

You can also add nametags to personalize your city. You simply 'add a nametag' and type in what you want.

I do not like the U-Drive It missions, as the vehicles are too difficult to steer.

Also, some rewards are not as costly as SC4. But do expect some cons, some rewards are more expensive than SC4.

This game is not as difficult as SC4. You can choose your difficulty level, Easy, Medium, or Hard. Easy, you start off with $500,000, Medium $200,000, and Hard $100,000.

This is a warning, your advisors nag you too much, unlike SC4, especially 'New Residential Development Stymed by lifestyle choices' and 'Industry needs room to expand', trust me, Maxis need more time into less annoying advisors. Perhaps in SC5 they will have less annoying advisors.

So, people who own SC4, don't think of this as the same old thing. Go out and buy this! Highly addictive and habit forming!

(P.S: I used cheat codes like 'You don't deserve it'. You simply press Ctrl+X and a bar will appear at the top of the screen. Type it in and press enter. It unlocks all rewards & business deals.
For those of you looking for the serial code needed to play, it is on the back of the booklet provided in the case.
Warning: Do not use cheats until your city is as big as you desire. Otherwise, if you do it when just starting a city, your city will never grow.)

They will gladly take your money...again.

Since the makers of the original SimCity 4 never actually fully patched that version, they tell you to buy Rush Hour to solve the issues existing with that main version. Throwing in a few additions that could have been made available for download, you must buy this expansion in order for the game to even work with ANY future elements they may provide. Newer building tools or the rare new structure will simply not work with the stand alone version.
But the "situation" even goes much deeper than that-
Problems were not only not fixed, but were actually HIDDEN by the game designers. Observant players of the original SC4 would notice cars driving in circles or driving a highway, leaving and re-entering it at each exit! With Rush Hour, they merely lowered the amount of time automobiles would be displayed so players would think there are no problems. Very sneaky Maxis! Many gamers are none the wiser. It is truly amazing the game developers could get away with such practices... and laugh all the way to the bank.

This is the best game since GTA. The best thing to do is name streets and roads and neighborhoods and districts. I wish you could make a ethnic neighborhood then it would be really fun. You can make suburbs like the big city can be very blue collar and crime ridden and bad schools and one suburb can be white collar with mansions and excellent schools depending on what neighborhood you pay most attention to, just one of the best games ever made.

A Must Buy... if your conscious is flexible..

This expansion is a must purchase. It's more than the features they describe, they've refined and improved just about everything is seems from the regular Sim City 4.

My issue however is that there are so many aspects that you get in the expansion that were missing without it (such as say, the ability to click a button to make a certain building historical, which you could do in previous Sim Cities), it really kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth buying this. The ORIGINAL Sim City 4 should have had many of the polished aspects of the expansion. This isn't just a ton of cool new features, this expansion makes the game complete.

Kinda clever.. sell an incomplete game, then make you buy the expansion to get the full product. So it's a must purchase, but I blow my nose at you so called "computer coders", you and all you're silly kinnigits... pbhhhhhtthhh....

Sincerely,

A Frustrated Gamer Who Knows He's Not Going To Be Sleeping Tonight Because of the Darn Game

(or just Graham will do)

I have been waiting for Maxis to improve the transportation features, and finally they've done it!!! I can now control traffic more efficiently in my city by knowing what paths citizens take to and from work. This allows me to determine where I should place new roads, mass transit lines, stations, etc. The monorails allow you to have a much more futuristic city, only you can't build monorail lines over elevated freeways. The surface freeways and elevated trains also make city transportation systems much more realistic. If you have SC4 and don't have Rush Hour, I highly recommend that you buy it now. It is worth every cent.

All the bells, whistles, and sirens a city should have!

After purchasing SimCity 4 and hearing of the Rush Hour expansion, I didn't know what to expect--after all, I just payed $40 for the stand alone version. Yet, to my surprise, RH added a tremendous ammount of gameplay and realism that wasn't available with SimCity 4. While the U-Drive it features are alright, I am extremely impressed with the tremendous addition of ground level highways, (I wanted these for a while now) Chicago-style "el" lines, monorails, and a new slew of roadway tools. Mayors should also take note of the new building sets, greatly improved gameplay performace, and more realistic play. Rush Hour is more than a simple add-on, it's a sequel to a great game.

What an improvement

I must say this expansion has added so much to Sim City 4! Now you can drive around your city on missions, you can put in toll booths to raise some money. You can now name your streets, add avenues (which is a usefull intermediate between streets and highways) to ease traffic congestion, and view how and when your streets are used by commuters. The only down side is that, as others have stated, this requires a lot of processing memory, both RAM and video. You'd be advised not to run it with all the graphics set to maximum unless you have a very powerful computer and video card. Have fun and try to drive carefully around your streets.

Making SimCity 4...EXCITING

Okay, to start off, i would like to say, if you liked simcity 4, you will definetly like this game.
for all of u people who thought that it was too hard to make your sims happy in the origional simcity 4. This game really helps Giving SimCity 4 the much needed improvments. THese include: Wide Avenues, making it easier and more effiecent for ur sims to cummute. Besides all the other transportation helpers (Elevated freeway etc. Elevated railway and one-way streets) The game also improves on past objects (such as the police stations) making them have more capasity for ur sims and making it much easier to expand to a metropolis.
On top of having the "make ur own sims and place them whereever u want"(which by the way they added more detail to that) they also added a "U drive it" missions. In this u get to drive, fly, boat, destroy, or chase ur way into ur sims arms. If u are able to complete this mission on time, u are rewarded higher mayor rating, or even money and prizes. But if not, you have ur rating decreased, leaving u in shame. Which now brings me to my only complant about this game. I dont know about u but the Udrive it missions seem very hard to control and/or navigate.
Over all this game is a very good expansion mostly recommended to people who r having a hard time with the reagular SIMCITY 4. But if not, still a great game 2 own.

by the way, if u have a very slow CD reader or grafic card, the game is VERY slow, but its great improvments cover up 4 it.
PS: it requires a 32MB Video Card, yet i have a 16MB card and it still works......................................o well
GREAT GAME!
