(I'm only using the kid's form because of the way this site is set up...oy...)
This game is your basic "train and fight monsters" scenario, with the ability to race, do a "Beyblade style" fight, etc. But... The customization is the best I've ever seen! It's not like the so called "Custom modes" in other games where you can like, switch parts or colours, but you actually DRAW your creature and make it your own. Trust me. Pick up this game, grab a memory card 1019, and customize your world.

worst game ever

Amazing island is a game with top-of-the-line customization. You have to play with a monster drawn by the computer at first, but then you clear the first course and you get a shot at things. You can make a dinosaur-like monstar with a gigantic left arm or a humanoid monster with miniscule porportions. The game revolves around minigames, so it's easy to watch someone play it and say "this is a ripoff of mario party" but you sit down and play, and its something diffrent. Only problem is, it's easy to get stuck and not know where to go next. I for example find it impossible to progress because i cant fond course 3. anyway, id imagine this game has replay value cuz of the customization system. it ma take some time drawing with the controller (a DS title could be intresting because of the touch screen) but you can get adjusted. It also has a mirror pen tool, which draws symmetrical shapes and a line tool and a mirror line, which is great when your monsterz are too bulgy from all the drawing from the side. It also has a card battling game where you can transfer your monsterz to your gba then battle them with someone elses. Apparenty there is another minigame downloadable to the gba which will get you some cards.
I give this 5 starz. But its not everyones cup of joe. renting first is always the way to go, so youre not stck with a game you dont like. Adults might not like the little kid worlds, and graphics freaks will be saddened by the monster graphics (well theyre not going to be very good, it is self drawn) but the game is really fun overall.

Fun but shallow title.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the Sega developers who worked on "Super Monkey Ball 2" were involved with this game. It has a very similar feel to it and some of the cute sound effects are identical. Another important feature to both of those games: FUN!

The "story" that gives you your reason for playing has something to do with a magical world. Humans used to live there harmoniously with some other creatures but something happened. Humans haven't lived there in over a thousand years and they have pretty much forgotten that the other world even exists. You need to collect 8 orbs and defeat the Black Evil to make everything better again. It's not much of a story but...

Anyway, you are given a partner which has to make its way through seven obstacle courses. Whether you can successfully navigate through these courses will depend on how well you can quickly push the A button and whether you have a good sense of timing or not. That's about all.

I know it doesn't sound like much but it had myself and three kids of varying ages transfixed. What makes this title one which I would recommend is the feature which allows you to create your own sidekick. You can virtually draw it freehand on the screen, make it whatever color/design you want and accessorize it with countless items. You'll literally spend as much (or even more) time creating your partner than actually playing the rest of the game.

If you like "alternative" games that stray a bit off the path of what you expect and encourage creativity then "Amazing Island" is a great deal as long as you get it discounted. I beat this game in less than two days so please don't spend too much money on it even if it sounds like a fun title to you.

Refrain from makin a stupid cartoon, make another mario game

Ok, let me start off by saying that this game is a very poorly developed game. The creators and publishers of this game should be very disappointed. Yippee, we made a piece of junk! I hear the profits will be $10 because only stupid ol' blockbuster will buy the game! That is what I probably would've said after creating this heap of metal. When you create monsters, they all look the same and have the same color. Then you have BUY the colors at the shop. You can only have one blob at a time. The minigames are very EASY and you will beat it in one day, double the amount of time it took me.

FINALLY A GAME WHERE YOU CAN TEST YOUR CREATIVITY!

I've always wanted to play something that let you create your own monster-SEGA TEAM, you've read my mind! When you first enter, controls are somewhat confusing but you'll get the hang of it. Main gameplay? Town's taken over by evil and you have to save it yada yada yada. The possibilities are basically endless though. Storyline is about getting magical orbs to save the area, and only one with a "pure heart"(Here we go again) can do this. Graphics are really neat(Water spurts out from here and there) and the monsters are probably the most spectacular part of the game. You get a frame to create one, and from there, draw to your heart's content. Add wings, different eyes, anything you want. You can even goof around and make some really retarded ones! (It's worth it.) Again, it's the test of your imagination-People who say this game is horrible probably don't even know what imagination is. :P Overall, I rate this game 4 stars out of 5(Deduction for not-so-original storyline)-You're going to have to play it to experience full power. ^-^

Dumbest game in THE WORLD!!!!!! :-(

This is the dumbest game ever, no questions asked. I thought Sega would do a better job for a game like this! Let me explain my experience:

Well, first of all, I rented this game (good thing too) and I came home excited to play it because I'm really into monsters, and creating and customizing stuff. Well so I played it and I hated it. That's all there is to be said about "Stupid, stupid, stupid Amazing Island!!!!!" It's a good thing I only rented it, because I almost wanted to buy it before I knew what it was like. :-( DON'T RENT OR BUY IT! DON'T PLAY IT, PERIOD!

Sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to say it but I bought this game thinking it would be fun a joy to play. But it flat out sucked. I mean in the beginning it was alright then later on it started to get boring and boring as I went along. Then some people do buy it for the creativity factors. But if you do buy this game buy a fresh memory card with it because for every monster you make it takes up I think it somewhere between 5-20 blocks (I traded it in for spider-man 2 and budokai 2). Don't buy it unless you have extreme patience and a decent allowance.

Of Low Quality

Well, this game does have it's good points, but those are cancelled out by the negative. Plainly said, it is low quality. Of course, the prospect of drawing your own monster is simply a great, creative idea! But, the rest falls short. The mini-games I have to say are weak, as the rest.

And did anyone else notice how the kid on the cover of the game isn't in the actual game?!?! (or at least as far as I've gone. I got bored easily.)
