Finally! This one isn't generic! Shadow Run adds a whole new aspect to the FPS genre, magic. Although the graphics aren't my cup of tea, they are decent, with modern light effects and physics. Some of the magic really makes this game fun to play, teleporting through walls, flying!, and summoning a burning demon minion.
PROS:
Requires strategy as well as a quick trigger finger to play
Fresh, new addition to an old genre
CONS:
Some balance issues
Could have had better Graphics
An Excellent Game!

Definitely a good choice in gaming, especially for the multi-player enthusiast. Be forewarned: it only runs on vista. I dropped the overall rating for this a star because of it, but that should not be counted against the game itself. For anyone who already has vista (who bought a new computer recently or what have you), its a good purchase. Alternatively, if you own an XBoX 360, you might go with it there instead, as the online game play is equal and combined with pc users.
Great fun

I was a little weary of purchasing this game due to the lack of good reviews on this page. However, I noticed a lot of these reviews are simply aimed at the fact the game is Vista-only. (despite being titled Games for Windows.) Since I currently run Vista, I don't really care that XP users can't run the game. Quite frankly, it bothered me that so many negative reviews weren't about the game, but simply that MSFT decided to make it Vista.
Getting past this, I installed the game on my system and it runs beautifully. My computer is heavy on the performance side, so I'm not sure how well it runs on older systems. (I assume most Vista-installed machines have decent specifications.) I also own an Xbox360, so it's great to easily load up my Xbox Live account and play with all my friends. The game matching takes a minute or two, but there are always games available, even late at night.
The gameplay is enjoyable. Note: There is no campaign or anything like that. The only single player aspect of this game is the training. You can pick up how to play the game fairly quickly, but it will take some time to really master the skills and use them competitively.
It's got a CS feel to it (since you buy your equipment/magic at the start of every game) but the magic adds an interesting level of strategy to the game. Since people can fairly easily be resurrected in the game, mowing down an enemy and moving on isn't always the best strategy.
Overall, this game is an enjoyable FPS. As I said earlier, the learning curve is slight to play but large to really get good. I recommend this game to anyone who doesn't have any gripes about it being Vista only.
Tons of Fun for a month or two.

This game is very fun when you get down to it, the gameplay depite what others have said is quite innovative, and if your playing on vista all the XBOX360 players love you. i run an Average system for vista 3GB of ram 2.0Duo core 256mb video card, and it runs great, only laggs when the game picks a bad server which is 1 in 20 games at most. this does get a bit boring after about 50hours. but its great fun until your tried every combo of magic, races, weapons and tech. The guy who said he had a robust system, he must of had some drivers out of date, because this game runs great. Im guessing 64bit has some graphics driver problems but thats nvidias fault not this very fun game.

So here is a game that is called "Shadowrun" an old RPG that was great--yet it really doesnt resemble the classic RPG at all...seems to be a "common" game that uses a new technology of mixing Xbox360 players and PC players together--good idea--bad marketing scheme by making it require windows vista...
Any games that require me to purchase an entire new Operating System will not be getting my money for anything. Macintosh isnt looking too bad now if this is the future selling tactics for Microsoft.
Microsoft, check your mailbox, this game is being sent back to you.
What a disappointment

Wow, I was excited when first saw Shadowrun was going to be released. I played the original RPG and the Nintendo version. All I can say is what a disappointment. Other than the name and some content, this game is nothing more than a first person shooter. I am a bit upset that I had to sign up with Microsoft Windows Live in order to even play the game. I have a very robust AMD 64-bit multiprocessor dual core system with 4GB ram, 5 terabytes of hard drive space, and a 1024mb video card. Performance under Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition was mediocre at best. I am very unhappy with this product and will be selling it on e-bay.

This is one of those games that fell far short of its potential. To start with its combination of magic/weapons is poorly implemented. Each of which has beed done far better in previous games....can anyone say Star Wars with force powers. This game feels clumsy. Damage modeling is horrible, I'm sure they prefer the longevity of players is preferred by some, but as for myself, I can't stand to pump round after round into a player and do little damage. Some of the effects are cool, like waking thru walls, but shouldnt be enuff to levitate this game from the bargin bin.

This game will only run on Windows Vista even though it was developed in an XP environment. This is a way for Microsoft to force you to upgrade. The compatibility software that will be released late July is a joke. Even when this software is released, it will never have all of the features offered to those playing on Vista. The new, rather flawed OS is too new for this kind of practice to be acceptable. I can't express this strongly enough, Do Not Buy This Game!!!!

I own Windows VISTA and have played this game for a couple hours. I can tell you the concept of magic and weapons is nothing new and has been done much better in the Star Wars FPS games. I've also played the actual ShadowRun RPG and can tell you asside from the title, there is nothing in this game that warents the title ShadowRun.
After about an hour you begin asking yourslef "Why does it feal like im playing JediKnights2?!"
Blatent false advertising, The top of the box says "Games for Windows" but the fine print says Windows Vista only. To make these two statements implies that Windows Vista is NOT WINDOWS, so I suggest we treat it as such.
Boycot this game. There is absolutly NO REASON for it to only be playable on Vista. I highly recomend you buy Jedi Knights 2 or Jedi Knights: Academy right now. There are weapons, swords, and Magic (err, Force.).
Don't get sucked into the hype of this soon to be 9 dollar title.
