this game is great! the gameplay is very faithful to other tekken games. i bought it at a toys r us and it had been marked down to only 9.99! a big bargain. this game would have gotten 5 stars from me if two player gameplay could be used with only one cartridge. with this game, you need two copys of tekken to play.

Tekken Advance...

I never thought fighting games on the Gameboy Advance would amount to much, to be honest. I figured we'd see a whole slew of 2-D fighters, like Street Fighter-Guilty Gear and the like, swamp the system as it's geared toward 2-D gameplay because of it's processing limitations. When I saw Tekken Advance in action, I was simply amazed. I don't know how Namco managed to do it but they produced a game that looks and plays like Tekken and I love it. Sure, the control scheme is a bit different and the move sets have been scaled down a bit but this game is, definitely, Tekken. This game, for better or worse, is a scaled down version of Tekken 3. While notables like Eddy and Lei are absent, the rest of the cast is there. In this version, Heihachi serves as the game's boss. Aside from the arcade mode, the game also features a link-cable versus, time attack, survival, tag battle, versus tag battle, and practice mode.

My only gripes with the game is that there is only one unlockable character in the game and, once you finish the game, there's no ending story, pictures or nothing. Credits roll, the end.

Other than that, Tekken Advance is a great fighting game worthy of any Gameboy Advance owners' hard-earned buck. If you like Tekken, you're going to like this one. I know I did.

This is very portable. It's easy to do the 10-hit combos on each character.

This game is great! No, it's stupendous. It may have been stripped down a bit, so it would fit on the Game Boy, but it is fun and full of cool action and bad-@$$ fighters nonetheless. It has awesome and slick graphics, cool sounds and music, and of course some nifty and wicked controls such as multiple punch, high power kick, and even a way to pound on your opponent and deal a ton of damage. Also, all of the very best characters are in this game. Here's how I rank all of them, from best to worst. Or favorite to least. Same thing.

1. King-Always been my favorite character, still is to this day. His punches and kicks are devastating, and he is part jaguar.

2. Yoshimitsu-This is a robot and a ninja put together. He wields a glowing sword and has many punishing moves. He's a must have.

3. Nina-She's one of the best villainesses of all time. Very well trained in the martial arts and has lots of tricks up her sleeve.

4. Jin-Where to begin? He is a tough, no nonsense karate fighter, and is utterly intrepid and never gives up. Also is cool looking.

5. Paul-Cool getup, cool hair style, cool moves. And he is a very strong man. This guy is a challenge to nearly any Tekken player.

6. Gun Jack-He's a hero, but he's an engine of destruction. He is the strongest fighter and real tough. Not too fast, but powerful.

7. Heihachi-He's a cool and dastardly villain, and he's trained in the best karate. He's also the final boss in this very game.

8. Hoawrang-This is a really good fighter. He has awesome powers and cool combos and is very challenging. Nice look to him, too!

9. Forest Law-I like Marshall Law better, but this guy's still pretty good. I mean, he's got a way of getting around fights.

10. Xiaoyu-I still think she's pretty good. Unfortunately, none of the handful of Tekken fighters I like less than her are in this game, so she has to be at the bottom. But at least it goes no lower than one that I like pretty good, instead of awful/bad.

All in all, this is a terrific game and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Tekken, Mortal Kombat, or any other fight game. Trust me-it is well worth your time, effort, and of course money.

When I picked up a japanese game I ws surprised because it isn't what you would suspect at all. It is more of you actually have to know what you are doing and not beat anyone by pressing 25 buttons in a row... It is overall great though.

Not cool

I myself am a die hard tekken fan, and i asked for this game for christmas one year. I was so happy, until i played it. The graphics are horrible for one thing (but what do u expect from GBA). Only 10 of the Characters are in it, but u can only play as 9 of them! They're Nina, Hwoarang, Paul, Gun-Jack, Law, Jin, Ling, King, and Lei, Hehiachi is the unplayable boss. If you are undecided, please DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!! thank u

Not a Revival of Tekken Paradise and No Where Near Justice

Let's freely admit it. Profess it! THE FUTURE IS HERE! Technical advancements are screening throughout the world, and not I`m not rambling about nanomachines or emigrational space travel, I`m aimed at the Gaming Industry (note the capitalization. Oh yeah, it's that huge.) Face it, the GBA -- in all its rights -- comprises extraordinary brilliance. Many deemed Tekken's conversion on the GBA to be an ungodly Fighter, and get this (you can bite down on your pillow now), they were absolutely, positively on que. Bashed in it are horrendous moments of frustration. Okay, so the greatest future isn't actually here, and by the effort of Namco, gaming is not at its finest.

No, Tekken Advance is not a revival of the Tekken paradise, but it thrashes Mortal Kombat in every direction. With GBA limitations, the leap from the massive 3D environments to 2D was Namco's hardship. The GBA tries its best to capture the essence of Tekken and crashes. Consisting of only 10 lousy fighters, the controls on each character have obviously been tweaked into a condensed format. Single punch, kick, throw, and tag buttons are dished up on a skyrocketing discomfort level. Because of the lost of the essential control scheme, the moves list was trimmed down to simplified, sluggish combos. Worst, the AI is a recurring challenge and heavy with bevy combos. Missing the intensity of a hardcore fighter, the repeated combo-jumble fighting proves to be nothing more than a disgrace. On a happier note (the reason for that extra star), the controls are extremely responsive and the directional pad is just as splendid, letting players easily walk, dart, hop, and backpedal. On the whole the gameplay tries to deliver an adequate amount of mayhem. Easily unraveled by the range of modes from previous installments, such as the Arcade, Survival, and Tag Battle, this repulsive remake deserves no credit, because this one was never meant to be.

Graphically, Tekken Advance looks to be infected with a deadly case of visual disgust. Look at this thing, it keeps a doleful cast of pre-rendered fighters who have faces of callousness. The colorful backgrounds are ruined by jerky animation and smudged texturing. Even when combos go a-thundering-in, the graphics transform into a squalid pigpen. Tekken Advance, by screenshots, appeared to have taken complete usage of the GBA's full capacity, but is nowhere linked to the mighty emphasis of past games. Tenements of the franchise strictly belong to the console market, and Namco falls extremely short to do justice on their handheld attempt. Mark my words, 3D Fighters belong on specialized 3D formats -- otherwise known as the PS2, GameCube, or X-Box.

This will be a great game to own for those eagerly fans awaiting a new Tekken title. The only problem I would see with it, is that the buttons. The GBA only has 2 buttons and another 2 on the shoulder side of the GBA. The only problem I would see, that the controls would be rather disturbing and uncomfortable. But why get this when you can get the eagerly anticipated Tekken 4 for PS2??? Which will be due out Spring 2002!!!!! Either way, all the games in the Tekken series have all been great in every aspect. So, expect this to be good as any other Tekken game.
