Terribly disappointing

Couldn't wait for this to come out. What a disappointment!!! Guitar Hero III was so much more fun to play. Most of the songs that weren't Aerosmith's were sung by cover bands!! Battle with Joe Perry was too easy and there weren't enough of them. What a waste of my money!!!

ROCK ON, DUDES!

I am 60, my son is 11 and together, we 'Rock the House'!
LOVE THIS GAME, LOVE THE MUSIC (about 50% Aerosmith/ 50% other 'great' stuff!)

Ok if you love Aerosmith

I purchased the game for my father-in-law and played it before I gave it to him (yes I am a horrible person.) I finished the game in about 2 hours and really felt bad about the experience.

There are only a handful of Aerosmith songs on the game. From the huge catalog they have they also chose some odd ones, and left out most of teh port reunion songs that truly rock.

I remember one early preview of the game whare the GH folks said one of the innovations to this game was that there was now five people on stage, and I completly agree that that is the only innovation of this game. Wait until the price drops to about twenty dollars and you would be a ok buying the game for the number of songs on it.

The band interviews are interesting, however they are way to short and on the PS2 look crappy.

This game rocks!!!!!!!!

This is my first guitar hero game. The graphics aren't the best but the songs are challenging and really fun. I have the wireless guitar and trust me it's the one to get. I would get this game cause it's a FUN game.

Needs a Better Band

The idea of a Guitar Hero game centered around a particular band isn't a bad one, but then you need a band with a deeper playbook than Aerosmith to keep things interesting.

That's the big problem with this edition of the Guitar Hero franchise: there's just not that much good music here. There are maybe three good Aerosmith tunes, an old Kinks song, and then what do you have? Ted "Raw Meat" Nugent -- yuck!

There is some slight amusement value in seeing an animated Steve Tyler looking like Mother in Psycho, or listening to the band reminisce about the highlights of their rehab-riddled career, like Spinal Tap 40 years on.

Really, it's time to try this with a band that would keep you rocking track after track, like the Beatles or the Stones or Tom Petty or -- well, someone good, yaknow?

It's a blast

We use the game about 3 - 4 times a week. I am 48 yrs old, it is not just for kids. Someone needs to now make a country rock......

I was impressed with the amount of songs on this game. You can also buy more Aerosmith songs from the vault in addition to the songs that are part of the game. Overall a great game and very fun to play!

I Like the Songs, but...

The songs that were chosen are good, but are unreasonably difficult to play at the expert level. There seems to be a trend over at Guitar Hero HQ to make the songs that they release border on no fun at all, which is kinda disappointing. Plus, due to guitarthritis setting in mid-song most of the time you shouldn't count on playing the game long enough to consider it a game more than it is an ordeal.

The video clips of the band talking about their rise in between locations are fun to watch... or are they enjoyable because it gives you a chance to shake out the cramps in your hand? Probably a little bit of both.

Good for rental but not purchase worthy

I had been avoiding buying this game because I was afraid it would be another "Rocks the 80's" flavored GH (you know - filler before the next big release of the game) and turns out I should've listened to myself. I finally gave in and bought it yesterday because I really needed some new songs to play, but I should have just rented it. I thought it would tide me over until Rock Band 2 and GH World Tour hit the stores but doesn't have that kind of durability. I beat the game (hard setting) in just a couple of hours, which is not such a bad thing. The bad thing is that I have no desire to go back and play it again. At least with Rocks the 80's the songs are good. I love Aeorsmith, but the majority of the songs on this thing are crap and you just play them because you have to to get to a good song. The difficulty is all over the place - you go from repetetive chords on one song, to a thousand notes all over the fret on the next. And what the fizzle is Run DMC'S King of Rock doing on this game? It's not rock and he's certainly not the king of it. As it is a rap song, not a guitar heavy rock, it's basically four or so minutes (feels like 20) of waiting for the occasional note to appear. I don't even have A.D.D. and my attention span was seriously wavering. The best song on the game is Stone Temple Pilots and it seemed out of place among the other songs. You'd get your money out of a rental, but it really can't justify $50.
