Peter Rabbit preschoolhas very playable games that are fun while focusing on word reconition and first letter sounds which later come together with spelling games. My kids love all the reader rabbit games they are fun and educational. The 5th star is reserveddue to the incompatiblity with MacOs. You need to run classics, which you have to download...it's touchy. We need more software for the Mac!

I added this product to my list of the best games of preschoolers quite a few years ago. I was browsing through all the games available for linux and was pleasantly surprised to see this game listed. I'm so glad to see more mainstream game publishers taking the time and energy to include linux when they are developing games!

The version of Preschool I received is so old it would not run on my Mac under OS 8.6. It is not supported by The Learning Company in any way (telephone or email). I can't tell you about the contents because we were able to get it to launch.

A must have for the 2nd Grader!

This is an excellent computer learning game. It is fun and easy for kids to use --my son loved it and played with it for hours.

They've got it almost right

This is the most educational of the programs I've found for the preschool set, but there are still disappointments. I wish they would do more with the alphabet - they need more variety of words, a combination of small letters and capitals. My three-year-old mastered the top level within a few weeks, simply because he memorized the words they were using, and then quickly grew bored. The musical numbers are cloying and irritating. But the rocket counting game is terrific -- a real help teaching small kids the meaning of numbers. Overall, I've yet to find better, but I hope the designers of the Reader Rabbit series keep trying.

Our son started with this when he was 4, and just played with the mouse. He began reading and following along, and he just loves the program. We have several Reader Rabbit programs, and I HIGHLY recommend them for your little learner. A great buy!

Good Program

I purchased this program to help my 3 year old son sharpen and develop his basic preschool skills. I found this program to have a good theme and my son was very interested in the character's various actions, songs and dances used to accompany the instruction. Skill levels can be chosen to pace the progression dependeing on the need of the child. The program is very user friendly to an adults helping their children. Progrmas are easily exited out of and information can be saved to log the progress of the children users. I recommend this software to parents who want to help their preschoolers get a head start on Kindergarten education.

Works with Special Needs Kids

I was amazed that after only about 2 weeks of playing with this, my 2 year old son was actually able to figure out the games. He has severe language difficulties, sensory issues and behavior problems. Usually he could not sit long enough to play a computer game because there was not enough interaction for him. He loves this game and points to the computer all the time to try to tell me he wants to play. He is actually trying to "count" to 5 with the game and "sing" (in his own gibber-jabber language)some of the songs. There is no exact mouse clicking to frustrate him. Anything close works! This is an awesome game for toddlers to feel like the big kids and not be frustrated.

Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade

A+ rating from my 7 year old boy. He's had other Reader Rabbit software and this one is right up his alley. There are plenty of levels for him to be challenged by and when you initially begin the program it gives the child an "assessment" so they know what level to start him off with. If he gets stuck in one level, he can skip to another part of the game doing something else and come back to what he was doing. It's perfect for a child who is high energy. This program is challenging, not too easy for him, which is good. He sneaks off to his room to play this program, just what he needs as an "educational treat." He loves the music and there's plenty of visual rewards! At any time, I can pull up and see a chart that tells me how far he's completed each task, that's really great. He will play this CD for an hour or more and not because I've asked him to. I've found his confidence level is higher now too, the CD has lots of verbal reinforcement and encouragement. I think the 2nd grade level is very appropriate too, some 2nd grade programs are too easy or hard...this one seems like it has a wide range to accommodate all second graders. I highly recommend this program for all children, especially active boys who love a challenge. BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT!
