Dis game is da [best]!!!!! Not only do you have more things ta do, but there is also more features dan part 1. Ta be honest, i loved Sonic Advance!(i own both 1&2)it's just thoght dat it was kinda short.(almost everybody says dat too) Sonic Advance 2 makes up for all the flaws that da prequal (sonic advance) had. I've been a Sonic fan ever since I could remember,(i'm 15)so i know wha i''m sayin' when i say dat DIS GAME IS SUPERB!!!! ...so befow i go, i just want ta ask ya 1 question..."ARE YOU UP "2" IT?!!"(i got dat from a poster for Sonic 2)
Pros:
* more thing to unlock
*one more extra character (for those of you who don't know, i'm talking about Amy Rose. You can unlock her)
* somewhat more of a story
* longer and more challenging levels (including the new special rings and special stages)
* new unlockable boss attack feature (just like Mega Man Xtreme 2)
* new cut-scenes!! (nice!!)
* better character animations
Cons:
Once the cut-scenes are viewed, they can never be seen again (until you delete the game data)
note: i would have typed down the cheap deaths on the "cons" list but believe it or not, the cheap deaths are apart of Sonic History.
There are not 4 playable characters - there are 5!

Amy is in this game! And no, I'm not mixing her up with Cream, I really do mean Amy. To get her, beat the game (including all the emeralds) with each character, and she will appear on the level select.
And now, I review the game:
Sonic Advance 2 is definetley a lot of fun to play, and it mixes the classic 2D and the newer 3d sonic games well: The levels are set up in the same style as the 3d levels, but are 2d. That means it's a LOT faster than the older sonic games, including Sonic Advance 1. I would have given this game 5 stars, except for the simple fact that other than the modified levels, there's nothing particularly new and all of the material is borrowed from other games. In fact, the level design and other stuff felt like a re-released Sonic 3K (That's Sonic 3 and Knuckles for those of you who never had those two games and locked them together). The 'last' level is the DEATH EGG (called Egg Utopia), followed by the Doomsday Zone (Called XX Zone), with a much more interesting part for Sonic if you nabbed all 7 emeralds. This is basically ripped completely from past sonic games.
Other than that? I advise you click buy now right this second, because, despite my bashing it for not being 'new', it's a great game and a lot of fun.
old school sonic is out for vengeance.....

I got this game on the christmas of 2003-2004 an its fun! i dont have the first sonic advance cuz i heard that this one is WAY better.
I own some old sonic games (sonic 1,2 and S&K for genesis,sonic an knuckles collection for pc and sonic 1, 2 and chaos for gamegear i also had sonic pinball on genesis but now i have it on advance in sega smash pack) an this w/ sonic 2:battle (GC) r the only new sonic games i own so far. well, heres my review-
MUSIC/SOUND 4/5: I luv the music on someparts like in zone 6 (the cyber space with hologram stuff) is catchy an sometimes, i heard music from previous sonic games for a few senconds an the VERY LAST boss fight tune was cool but the VERY LAST boss sorta looked like a rip off boss fight from a game called SPARKSTER (snes) but then again it wasnt a complete rip. all in all u will enjoy the music.the sounds were good too but i sorta wished the characters had some voice in the game but its ok.
GAMEPLAY 5/5: awsome! this is more uv a race thru level game (even more than the old sonics) with few enemeis. u earn characters along the way such as tails, knuckles and a new recruit in the sonic saga!its a little girl rabbit named Cream and her CHAO named Cheese (cream cheese, get it?)an there is a character u can unlock an i know who it is althogh i havent earned him/her yet... u should no that ure first person u have is (obvoisly) sonic an i beat the game with him an cream an im workin on tails rite now, i havent earned all the chaos emeralds but to do so, u need to get 7 secret rings in each act (excluding boss acts) an u need to get those emeralds to unlock more features in the game. u can also do time trail mode which u choose a player to run thru the act as fast as u can which adds to replay but ill get on with that later... u can use data with chao linking to SA2-battle an do stuff but i dont know what unfortanatly...
REPLAY 5/5: Plenty to do here! beat game with all 4 characters with collecting a total of 28 emeralds (u need to get the chaos emeralds with EACH character!) then unlocking other goods along with earning ANOTHER character (now total of 35 chaos emeralds to collect) plus u can do (i didnt mention this in GAMEPLAY) multiplayer with up to 4 people an i never did it but my big sis has this game so i should ask her sometime... an again, there is time trail to get your absolute best with EVERY character so there is A TON to do here but when u manage to finish it all, u can still play the game (recommended doing this AFTER u did everything else multiplayer is optional tho) again with ure favorite character (mines sonic so far)
CHARACTERS:
SONIC:coolest of the lot (in my opinion), he foiled dr. Eggmans (gee thats a stupid name! what happened to Robotnik?) plans MANY times in the past. he can run really fast an do moves like back flip in mid-air or spin-kick forward.Cool huh?
CREAM & CHEESE: Unfortanatly, shees just a mimick of tails with worst flight controls (she flies with her big, floppy, ears) but she has good sprites (when she grinds on rails, is the happy or screaming?)! she can sorta spin forward an use CHEESE as a weapon. I think she deserves to be in the sonic crew all in all!
TAILS (MILES): Ok he is not really new at all in the sonic saga (first appearance: Sonic 2 genesis i think) he is sonics sidekick an can use his tails to fly but he doesnt really have alot uv moves but he is still awsome an deserves to let him go thru the game, u wont regret it!
KNUCKLES: Sorry! i didnt get to try him out yet but ill upgrade this when i do! the only thing i really bet he can do (unless sonic team got drunk which hopefully they didnt cuz they rock) is glide in mid-air cuz he did in previous games so its either gonna be sonic or him as my fav!
???: Yup! this is the mystery character an i never tried him/her out cuz i didnt unlock him/her but i know who the character is (sorta obvouis)...
RENT/BUY/NEVER TOUCH/USE TO THROW AT WINDOW: Definate buy even if u missed out on old school sonic games or even the new ones (all the stories are pretty much the same)!!! This will be awsome for road trips (if u dont get carsick that easily) an is jus fun to play again an again! u can get the first sonic advance if u want but uv what i heard, u should get this one or better yet both! I didnt write this long reveiw for nuttin so go get it now!.....umm why u still here...? GO! GET IT NOW! well by for now!.....no really BYE! *runs away*
a return to form? no, but perhaps an improvement..

I'll start by pointing out that I have not played the other Sonic Advance games, so I don't know how this compares. I do know how it compares to the old Genesis games though, and that is negatively.
But forget that for a second - what are the good parts of this game? For starters, the graphics are pretty sweet. The redesigned character animations are very visually appealing. Sonic rips across the screen in a way more similar to his 3D counterpart than the old 16-bit hedgehog. The sprites have an anime kick to them that is fitting to the modern Sonic persona.
Also, some of the level designs are very nice from both a graphic and gameplay standpoint. Gameplay elements from the 3D platformers have been nicely integreted IE grind rails, and in some places the level designs use these elements quite creatively. The use of anti-gravity on Egg Utopia, while nothing new to the Sonic level vocabulary, manages to maintain a sense of speed and awe throughout. In conjunction with the level designs, some of the badniks are actually fairly clever. I was surprised to find some of their behavior wasn't a simple rehash of the tried and true genesis baddies.
On the subject of level designs, though, the trap designs are hideous (some so badly designed as to be almost 100% unavoidable.) The balance between tricky traps and keeping up the speed of the game completely lacks subtelty. The Sky Canyon stage contains some of the worst use of pitfalls in a platformer I've ever seen. You have to perform some pretty rediculous button wizadry to pass it as Sonic, the only main character without the ability to fly.
Also, while we're on character designs, let's talk about Cream the Rabbit for a second. She's useless. She contains almost no unique gameplay elements and is basically a shorter, less versitile version of Tails. The only truly unique aspect of Cream is the use of Cheese (horrible pun, by the way) who is too slow on the draw to be of any use in a game that puts so much emphasis on speed. Cheese does however make the boss battles obscenely easy.
The boss battles at first are a credit to this game - the running battle gimmick does make some of the fights pretty tricky, and they're certainly more engaging than the fights Sonic Adventure had to offer. However the game relies on the gimmick too much, and by the end of the game I'm pretty sick of it. What happened to boss fights that are all different? That use the environment and circumstance to dictate the gaming style? On a similar note, the final boss battle is horrid. I won't reveal why but it is both far too easy and frustratingly difficult in a way that isn't good.
Even for a game series that gets by on only the faintest hint of a plot, this game's story is nonexistant. The Genesis games used intentional changes in setting, mood-appropriate music and suggestive boss battles to drive an implied story. Your imagination just had to fill in the blanks. Here the story is literally: run to the right, beat Robotnik. It's not a convincing motivator.
I could nitpick a number of other little things, like the grade B techno soundtrack or the ludicrous "starting line" at the beginning of every stage, but the main point is that this is a bit of a disappointment for a veteran of the Genesis classics. Yes it has brought speed back to the Sonic series, but it's a shallow sort of speed. It totally lacks the wonder and mystery of the classic games as well as their sense of exploration and discovery. I can remember every step of the old games but most of these levels are simple - and sometimes frustrating - one-way rollercoaster rides. Most of the undeserved criticisms leveled at vintage Sonic can unfortunately be applied here. It's a nice little taste of nostalgia for those of us who miss the hog's career peak, but it's no Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

This game is outta this world. I bought it today and it is so cool. There is Sonic the hedgehog, Knuckles the Echinda, Tails the Cat thingy with 2 tails, and the newest addition Cream the rabbit with her little chao "cheese". Cream and Tails can fly and Knuckles can float. It is awesome. I give it 5 stars excpt the makers of the game made it almost impossible to defeat the boss in the world of "the Sky Canyon". Also.... Cream can send her ;little chao to atrtack enemies- pretty cool.

Sonic Advance 2 is an okay good game. I've never played the 1st Sonic Advance game though, so I don't know if #2 is a big improvement or not. Well, you start off with Sonic, and get Cream, Tails, and Knuckles later by just progressing through the game (the order I put them in is the order you get them). You get Amy by unlocking her with all of Knuckle's emeralds, you get the Tiny Chao Garden with all of Sonic's emeralds, the Sound Test with all of Cream's emeralds, and Boss Time Attack with all of Tail's emeralds. If you don't want to unlock the things, I suggest forget buying this game. If want the game and just don't want to unlock, get a Gameshark/Codebreaker/Action Replay. For those who want the game, have fun and good luck!
my favorite since Sonic 3 and Knuckles!

If you are a fan of Sonic the Hegdehog, heck even if your not a fan you will still like this game. The game is sort of long. I don't really like the boss battles for two reasons:
1.) Too hard
2.) You have to run and keep up with Eggman.
If the bosses wern't like that I'd give it a 5/5.
You will definetly like it! *_*
Sonic is back better than ever!

In a world with loops and ramps, Sonic has to save his friends from Dr.Eggman. There are six fantastic levels and a final showdown with Dr.Eggman. You may think this game is easy when you start it but it gets harder. You can only save characters with Sonic but, that isn't to much of a down fall. There is also a new character Cream the rabbit. You might not think she kicks butt but looks isn't everything. You save Knuckles last wich may be somones favorite character. Over all I give this game five stars!
Very Good, But Challenging

This game is awesome! The only problem is that IT IS VERY HARD! I can't unlock the Chao Garden. I tried looking for cheat codes, but they all stink! It just says, "Unlock the chao garden by getting the seven chaos emeralds." That's not even a cheat code! It's even in my manual! I guess I'm gonna have to invest $$ on a gameshark. I bought the link cable too early, I thought the chao garden could be unlocked already. This was a big disapointment
:( .
The game however, is a lot of fun and will keep you entertained for hours. Great for an after-school activity.
Pros:
Will keep you entertained for hours
Great graphics for a gba
Cons:
VERY difficult.
Overall, I think this game is a great game!
