Simple yet addictive...

A port of an old Super Nintendo classic, Rock 'N Roll Racing is a fun, addictive racing game. However, don't think that this game is simply about racing. The vehicles are equipped with blasters, mines, oil-squirting machines, and rockets, among other things. Initially you being the game with a cheap, slow vehicle with few weapons. As you progress through the game, you earn money in order to buy weapons for your vehicle, or to buy a whole new vehicle. This is a great feature of the game, as it makes no two careers the same; everytime you play the game you can choose your path to victory. You can have a heavily equip a cheaper vehicle, or you can buy a better vehicle, but you will be unable to equip it with many weapons or armor.

The game uses a top down, isometric view of the race course. It feels like you are driving remote controlled vehicles, rather than some racing games that put you in the driver's seat. This is a unique view for a racing game, and it only helps the charm of Rock 'N Roll racing.

As one would assume, the multiplayer feature is fantastic. Nothing gives quite as much joy as blasting your friend right as he is about to cross the finish line.

Rock 'N Roll Racing is a game any avid Gameboy Advance player should own. It will provide you with countless hours of mindless fun.

4.5 stars - The classic returns!

One of my favorite games on the Super Nintendo was a highly underrated combat racing game by Interplay entitled Rock And Roll Racing. Back in the day, I must have played this game an hour a day, maybe more! And, at long last, Blizzard Entertainment has rereleased the game as a Game Boy Advance title! How does the game measure up? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-The soundtrack is one of the greatest things about this game, as the title may have implied. You get instrumental versions of rock classics, like Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild, Deep Purple's Highway Star, George Thorogood's Bad To The Bone, Black Sabbath's Paranoid, and others.
-Although this was a Super Nintendo racing game, it is most definitely no Super Mario Kart clone. This game focuses just as much on action as it does driving.
-There are a number of different vehicles, stages, and characters. There is even a hidden level and a hidden character - Olaf from The Lost Vikings!
-There's a two-player mode.

CONS:

-Rather obviously, the songs aren't performed by the original artists.
-The learning curve is quite steep.
-The semi-overhead view won't appeal to everybody.
-No single-pak link mode or four player mode.

OVERALL:
Obviously this game isn't perfect, but it's still one of the masterpieces of the Super Nintendo, and I am delighted to see it get new life on the Game Boy Advance. If you want to play one of the best racing games out there, give this one a whirl.

This game was one of my favorite for the snes. In the game you buy cars and upgrade them with the money you win. Awesome soundtrack that includes Black Sabbath, Deep purple, George Thorogood, and more. Also good quotes by the announcer such as,"Snake unleashes hot fury!" This game was made by Blizzard before they had that name. Blizzard went on to make classics series' Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo. Playing this game multiplayer with a friend could be perhaps the most entertaining aspect, although single player is great as well. Highly recommended!

A new port of an old Super Nintendo classic, Rock 'N Roll Racing is a must own for GBA owners who remember the classic game. The premise of the game is simple: as you win races in single player mode, you'll earn money to upgrade your car while doing battle against other racers. This port is every bit as fun as the original game; graphics and gameplay remain intact for the most part. The only problem with the game is it's steep learning curve, but that's only a minor complaint. And, just like in the original, the true fun of Rock 'N Roll Racing is to be had with two-player mode. However, I can't help but wonder why Blizzard didn't include a four player mode via link cable that would have been even more fun, but oh well. All in all, with the ever growing long list of Super NES ports on the GBA, Rock 'N Roll Racing is at the near top of the pack.

This one of my favorite games during the Super Nintendo timeframe. We could not find it in the stores so we had it rented all the time. Boy I was really happy to see this game for GBA.

It's a great game and lot of fun!

Now you can take it with you!

I remember way back in the old days when my friends and I would play this game all day long and fighting over who gets to be Olaf. Wow! Good times... If you loved the original then you will love this! Out of all of the games out there that they have remade and added to you'd think that they would have evolved this game in some way, or at least added a Part 2 to it. Anyways, it is a great game!
