Another year, and another Need For Speed game for every system on the market. Not leaving the GBA out yet, EA has brought Need For Speed: Carbon to the GBA, and while it provides some bits and pieces of racing fun, it's only an average racer in the long run. There are naturally a number of features from it's larger console bretheren that have been left out of this GBA version, but there are a decent number of ways to play here, including the wingman mechanics. There's a decent number of cars and customization options as well, and the cars themselves look pretty good too. The tracks however look pretty ugly and dark, with surprise turns popping out of nowhere to boot. If you've played any of the other Need For Speed games on the GBA though, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that they suffered from the same problems. All that being said, Need For Speed: Carbon is a solid street racer for the GBA which features some small blasts of enjoyment, but if you're desperate for Need For Speed on the go, check out the DS version instead.
