Not for Sensitive Children

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 5 / 10
Date: October 26, 2003
Author: Amazon User

My 8 year old son was so looking forward to this game, and likes to play it because he likes answering the questions to see how high he can get, but he's wound up in tears over the nasty comments made by Regis (paraphrase - "It's OBVIOUS the correct answer is 'c' - DUH!"), and is frustrated when tricks not found on the show like the phone a friend person not being home fouls up the game. Perhaps older children or ones that are less sensitive may find this funny, but if your child is sensitive at all or you are trying to teach your child good sportsmanship, I would definitely not recommend this game.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !

This Who wants to be a millionaire kids edition is the weakest version in the bestselling game series other than millionaire sports editon. I was actually able to win the million three times but then things started to change. Regis orders you around three times then calls you a cheater when you try to enter your provided cheat code sometimes given to you when you win the million. Second Regis if you don't enter any name becomes a lifeline thief and steals your lifelines. Now how is that supposed to help you win the million? I was very discouraged when Regis said no lifelines. Regis needs to sound more nice.... And yes Regis that is my final answer

Not What I Expected

Well, I bought this game thinking that it would be really easy kid questions that kids can answer, that weren't that tough. After buying the game and playing it I figured out that the questions were really hard. Some questions my mom couldn't figure out. I would recomend this game if you like hard questions with an occasional easy question.

Kid's edition, try high school/first-year college edition

This is not a "kid's edition" "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" These questions are difficult, as they have to be for the dollar amounts given. I expected a $16,000 question (the ninth out of the fifteen questions) to be one like "What is Tommy's last name on the "Rugrats" television series? with choices like A: Dill B: Pickles C: Onions D: Tomatoes Of course, that answer is B. Instead, a $16,000 qustion is one such as "Who was George Washington's vice-president? A: Thomas Jefferson B: John Adams C: Benjamin Franklin D: Ronald Reagan Of course, that answer is B, but I know it because I am an adult playing this game.

Now, here is why I wrote this review. It is about the lifelines. As you probably know, there are three (3) lifelines. True "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" fanatics would know that after reaching the $25,000 level of the game (which I will describe later in better detail), an extra lifeline called "Switch the Question" pops into play. This is not true in this game as the old money tree is used. Here is the money tree that is used for all of the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" games made for the PC and hosted by Regis Philbin:

15. $1,000,000 (a.k.a. $1 million)
14. $500,000
13. $250,000
12. $125,000 (on current show, this is $100,000)
11. $64,000 (on current show, this is $50,000)
10. $32,000 (on current show, this is $25,000)
09. $16,000
08. $8,000
07. $4,000
06. $2,000
05. $1,000
04. $500
03. $300
02. $200
01. $100

Now, like I was saying about the lifelines. You are given three, and they are as follows:

50:50 This takes away two of the four answer choices given, leaving one wrong answer and the correct answer.

Phone-A-Friend This makes a call to a child, usually around the age of 11 or 12 to answer the question for you. The child gets 0:30 seconds to help you. I have had only one child, "Hudson," a straight-A student be of almost 100% help. The other kids may or may not be right, so hope that Regis calls on "Hudson" for you!

Ask-The-Audience This shows the results of a poll taken over the internet of children's votes, again around the age of 11 or 12. I must highly caution you here that whatever answer they say is correct is 7 out of 10 times incorrect. For example, if 49% say it is B and that is the largest percentage, your best bet would be to go with the second highest percentage (if it was A at 22%, I would choose A)

Now, there is a thing known as "safe-haven" levels. Regis will remind you of this. On the current show, that occurs at the $1,000 and $25,000 levels respectively. However, on this game, that occurs at the $1,000 and $32,000 levels respectively. This means that once that level is reached, you cannot leave with less than that amount of money won. Also, since $32,000 is more than $25,000, you do not get that additional lifeline of "Switch-The-Question".

Last note, if you win the million dollars, Regis will give you a cheat code to put in the name box when you play again. I have earned one (after playing the game for about 100 times!) I will give it to you: it is callingcard. Just type in callingcard when Regis asks you what your name is. What this does is, when you use the Phone-A-Friend lifeline, it gives it back to you on the next question, providing that you advance to the next question and do not lose on the question you used the lifeline on.

So, good luck. Have fun. This is a great educational tool for those who love trivia. Enjoy. This is a great game. It gets you hooked on it, that is for sure. I hope this review was helpful to you.

Fun and entertaining game!

There is not all that much change in the difficulty of questions, making it seem like the 4th edition, rather than a Kids edition, and still missing sound effects in the show that the 1st and 2nd edition games had,why did it's publisher do that? Aside from that this is a great game for all ages, and I like that you can get codes from the web-site for unlimited lifelines, and Regis seems a little more perked up compared to the 3rd edition. The fastest finger is like on the show, and question difficulty (compared to the show) is a little bit more on track for a change compared to past editions, and another good reason to get this game is IT PLAY's IN FULL SCREEN!! About time...the last few Millionaire games play the size of a post-card in the middle of your screen, for the hefty-price tags on these games, you should at least be able to read the questions! Anyways this has to be the best edition in the series yet.

I Only Played The Demo

I played the demo on www.millionairekidsgames.com, and it seems like a very good game. I gave it a four but i might of gave it a five if I had the actual game. The only thing that I didn't like was that it was hard to hear the phone a friend. I really want to get this game, because I have always been a big Millonaire fan, and a big Regis Philbin fan. This game seems like one of these games that you play for more than a few months without getting bored. And Regis, that is my Final Answer.

Fun and challenging!

I have this game and at first, I only got to $100 or $200 but now I can reach like $8000 or even more! It is really really challenging sometimes. Sometimes it is scary when you answer a question that you are 99.9% sure is correct and you wait and wait and you find out it's wrong. I also don't like when they say you are a "cheater".

Great for kids & adults. The Kids Edition brings you easier questions and more trivia for kids. Unlike the other versions, you answer questions about Music, Movies, Sports, Science, History, Games and more! Climb up the ladder of alot of $$$.

Rating Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Kids Edition

Questions 10/10
The questions are great for kids everywhere!

Value 7/10
The value is a little on the low side but still worth the money!

Graphics and Design 10/10
The design is great and it's colors are just like on TV!

The only reason that it lost a star is the annoying voice. It says the same thing on the same questions. Buy this for your Regis fan kid!!!

Fun, but HARD

This is a really fun game!! But some of the questions are hard! When our relitives came to our house for Christmas, it took them probably at least several hours and at least two times starting over before they finally got it. I think the questions are aimed at kids that are about 10, 11. But still, this is a fun game. I would recommened it!
