This is an amazing game in which the player gets to create their own ecosystem. They must learn to balance life (for example, make sure there are enough zebras for the lions to eat but also enough so they can breed and increase herd size) while making sure each animal's requirements for food and water are met. Wildlife Tycoon is a great simulation game and will keep anybody who loves animals interested and excited while also making them think. This game is a must buy for any animal lover!

What I Say:
This game is a must buy! I gave it an excellent review!!Graphics are excellent! The sound is just right! Many fun and challenging levels.Makes you think. You have to think in this game by figuring out how much shrubs, lakes, grass, and trees you need for the ecosystem.
You can be any of the following Animals:
There are zebras, flamingos, lions, elephants, wildebeasts, giraffes, hyenas, vultures, spring hares, crocodiles, and monkeys.But...you have to unlock the animal first.
Hints & tips:
If you want to be the animal, click on the one you want to be.When you're the animal, you have to fight(meaning try to survive)for food and water(hyenas don't need water, just food).Read the discription during game play(the discription may be helpful).
Glitches?Freezing screen?WELL IT'S NOT THE DISC!!!!!!!It's your computer,you don't have enough graphic space.
Sound too low?WELL IT'S NOT THE DISC!!!!!!!!Get new speakers or adjust the sound.
Bad graphics?Get Direct 3D.
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't waste your money on this game. As a previous poster said, there is no strategy and it's so boring! I am returning it tomorrow!
Love it, love it, love it!!

I've owned this game for a year now and I'm still playing it nonstop! The thing I love about this game is that if you want, you can be any of the animals! All I can say is: I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!
This is a good game!

I bought this game at Target awhile ago and I still like it. There are two modes, the main mode where you unlock animals and one where you can play with all the unlocked animals. You basically start out with some flowers (your money to buy the animals) and you buy animals that get you toward your jewel goal (jewels are used to buy food and water). Then you keep playing until you pass the level. I think this is a good game worth $20.
awesome game! Very fun!

This game is great fun! What you have to do is to create a a savannah ecosystem with lions, zebras, giraffes etc. It's very fun and it helps you think. You may not notice that you are thinking hard, but trust me, you'll get more out of it than any other PC game.
Okay, so it may not be quite realistic, but the person who made it was not stupid. It took them months of coding to do. I think the last review was too harsh. This is not like Zoo Tycoon or Theme Park. It has a genre of its own and had a lot of hard work and love put into it.
Exellent Game

Why is this game got heaps of bead reviews. Ignore them, this game is great. Okay, to the graphics and animations were not very good but I'm a member of the forum at the pocketwatch games company (I'm using the kid's review because my credit card expired). These are the things that I found out:
1. This game was made one person in his bedroom. He loved to create games and he loved animals. He worked very hard on this game.
2. There IS strategy. Animals have a herd limit (e.g. zebras have a family size of twelve). That means you need to place enough food for twelve zebras, which is no easy task.
3. This game is continuously being updated so all needs are met.
Think about this, and then buy the game.
Pul-eeze! This game is not that good!

Alright. So, the review that prevailed on me to quiet my inner doubts that gives this game a good rating was way off. Let me break it down why:
5) Educational value - this should be one. Since there is no strategy, there really is no value to playing the game. Moreover, there was nothing educational about the game. You learned nothing about the ecosystem, or really anything about sustaniable growth. In fact, I'm putting this as my new number #1.
Ok, back to the original order.
1) Thinking: This game does not make you think in the slightest way. I suppose it may make one think in a basic, primal "I'm using my eyes, and that involves my brain" type of way, but that is it. There is no strategy - none! Yes, you have to control population. How do you do that? Make it rain. That makes more animals. That alone was sufficient for me to pass several levels. In fact, I let the game play itself. I did nothing. And yet, I kept leveling up. Is that thinking? No.
2) Graphics. Just plain bad. In terms of what's out there, the graphics were poorly rendered. I think a guy in a room alone could make a better game than this.
3) Sound. Also bad. If the files were MIDI(a poor sound format) that would have been preferable. Also repetitive.
4) Plot. None. Well, there were these inane limiricks between levels. They were poorly written and, well, dumb. They didn't tell you anything substantive about the animals, or the game really.
6) Be the animal feature: I'd put this as boarderline false advertising. I wanted to have exclusive actual control over an animal at several points. Did it really happen? No. Did I see things from their perspective? No. So, fooey on that!
Overall, this game is quite bad. Don't support bad products like this. They put actual hard-working designers out of jobs.
Not as good as the rest of the genre.

I am the primary consumer for my family, meaning that I buy the games for my kids. Since I'm concerned about content, I usually stick to "Tycoon" or other family friendly games. I thought this would be a good game, based on the first review, so I purchased it. Sadly, I was disappointed (and so were my kids).
I'd like to make a couple points:
1) If you go to the company website, you'll notice that most people have trouble even installing and running the game. As was the case with my purchase. I personally think some sort of refund or price reduction is appropriate with this poor result, but anyhow.
2) The game is not educational. As a biologist, I was appalled by the design and content of the game. The object in most levels is to create an uber-herd of animals. No concept of carrying capacity or ecological limits! I realize this is a game, but it should at least try to be educational if it claims to be, which this one does.
3) Graphics. I'm not that into games, but when I did check it out, I did think it was a little dated and poor quality.
4) Sound. Definately poor quality. My kids had to have me adjust the speakers.
Overall - go with something from a bigger company, would be my advice. And don't believe the hype. This is not a good product.
