I am 12 yeas old and I love the game! I love how you can create your own routes. Also, you can drive your trains in many different countries and the trains are so detailed. If you love trains, then then YOU SHOULD BUY THE GAME!!!

Auran Trainz, better sound please.

I have 2004 Microsoft Railroad Simulator as well.

Pros

Trainz 2006 has better graphics, at least a generation ahead, and the tools for modifying the layouts are much better. No having to mess with putting in switches as in 2004 Microsoft Railroad Simulator. It's automatically done as track gets added.

Cons

Sound. Very buggy. For awhile, no sound at all. Then I found if I get Windows Media Player going, sound. Not even good sound. The electric locomotives have a very annoying buzz, and the deisels sre semi-decent but still much work to be done. 2004 Microsoft Railroad Simulator has much better sound. In MSR, when when the Dash-9 gets going, it's very real, air brakes, horn and all. You would swear there's a huge deisel idling away behind your chair.

Same

Both have decent interfaces for operating the trains. Moving around in the layouts as they get modified both have are intuitive.

In summation, Trainz is in someways a generation ahead of 2004 Microsoft Railroad Simulator. The sound is a big component of any gaming experience tho, and until Auran comes up with a fix or updated program, I have to give it no more then two stars.
