Nowhere near as great as the PS2 version. They used the old Rockport map and changed the scenery and there was a whole new storyline. No Nikki, no Cross, no Darius, etc.
FAST!

Great gameplay and race options. Not too easy or too hard. Brilliant graphics and looks very fast. Shame about car options and optimizations,
Fun at first...repetitive towards the end.

The game is a good solid game, dont get me wrong! It runs good, good graphics and impressive music. The cars are cool and the controls are easy. But I was dissapointed when there was no drifting(like in the PS2 and XBOX 360 games). The game is very fun at first, but then all the tracks start to look the same and they all have the same basic idea, Come in first, or start over. The game also gets really hard, and the last two territories almost seem impossible to beat. Good game....but the end is very hard and seems repetitive. So would I buy it again? Yes. Is it as good as the Main Consoles versions? No.
It's GREAT... While it lasts

The game is great, ther is lots of cars to choose from, easy to get started, fun to play. For all of you who have played Need for Speed: Most Wanted on PSP and were disapointed because there wasn't a free roam, well there is in this game! You can meet rivals on the street, find cash, win races and even get caught in a pursuit! This game is great fun, but the game is very easy, it took me about a week or two to finish it, and when you beat it, it gets boring, FAST. overall, it's a pretty good game.

There are so many racing games that have really thrived on the speed, and the grace that drives so many video game owners wild. That has been said numerous times on handhelds. The speed of Mario Kart DS on the Nintendo DS was one of the most enjoyable, and exciting racers that showed to be fun and entertaining. That hasn't been said very well with Need For Speed on the handhelds. Although it shined brightly on the Playstation 2, it hasn't shown its success very well on the PSP. The last edition Need For Speed Most Wanted 5-1-0 was an absolute dissapointment for gamers who wanted a whole lot more than what they had bargained for. Now with another speed out for the PSP, will it finally show its backbone?
Need For Speed Carbon: Own The City tries to actually bring out again what had made the racing franchise its best speed yet. This game, you can choose from 25 vehicles ranging from exoticas like the Lambourghini Miercialgo, and muscle cars like the Dodge Charger. the gameplay is simple, as you race your way throughout the city, trying to be the best of the best, as you and your crew race through several races here, mostly circuits, rather than more appealing races like its PS2 and PS3 counterparts. The graphics are fairly drawn, but the gameplay in itself is still not as exciting as before. another disadvantage, is that you absolutely don't have as much of the thrill of the chase against the police in this version, as you had with Need For Speed Most Wanted did, which also leaves some fans of the series in the dust.
With all the game tries bringing out, Need For Speed Carbon: Own The City isn't really a must buy for the Sony PSP. If you own a PSP, I really would try to find a better racing game than this one, or just try to stick with the version for the Playstation 2 or PS3 instead. If you only own a PSP, try to rent this one, and really see if this is as fast & furious as you like in a racing game.

A great game for the PSP - lots of fun and reasonably challenging. The graphics are impressive as is the sound quality. The selection of cars is OK (a few more top end vehicles would be nice). The cars are easy to control and respond realistically. The increased difficulty as the game progresses make it quite challenging. Need for Speed Carbon is a cool game!

Need for Speed Carbon: Own the City, like NFS Most Wanted 5-1-0 before it, is a totally different game than its' console counterparts. While it is the first portable NFS game to feature a sprawling city to roam around in when you feel like it(something NFS fans, including me, have been griping about since the first NFS game for the PSP) and the gist of the game is still the same, it takes place in a different city and the story is different(the way it's told is also different--instead of FMV in CGI environments, you have comic-book style art story sequences with voice work). In this game, you're in Coast City. During a street race that you and your brother, Mick, were competing in, something happens. The accident leaves you laid up in the hospital with some nasty amnesia and your brother dead. You find out what happend was no accident and you set out on the streets to find out who is responsible. Let me tell you, the city in this portable version is just as big as the one in the console version and, in some respects, alot better a city to race in. I mean, the city just drips with personality. Your main objective in the game is to take on rival crews around the city with your own crew. If you win a certain number of events, you'll get to race the crew boss. If you beat the crew boss, you'll take control of that district plus unlock new cars and upgrades for purchase.
The only thing I seen wrong with the game is that, sometimes, the frame rate gets somewhat choppy when you're racing at higher speeds(course, that's understandable with as much detail as this game possesses).
Overall, Need for Speed Carbon:Own the City is a solid game that does things somewhat better than the console games and is different enough from those games to warrant a purchase. The games' overall presentation as well as its' graphics & sound are leagues better than Most Wanted 5-1-0 and Underground Rivals making this game the best NFS game yet.
While there might be better looking racing games out there and some that might be more addicting to play; I'll lay my money down for EA's Need for Speed series anyday. Why? because- in the end- you get more out of EA's Need for Speed games than you do other racers out there. There are a few exceptions but, for the most part, that's a well-known fact.
Very Good Game

When I first got it, I was very excited, but I still think that the price is high. There are many improvments to the game from the last one, for example, now you have crews that help you our during a race, you can explaore the city and eventually "own the city". it is a lot of fun to play. some advise would be to buy it during a christmas sale, but other than that, it is good game.
