Original idea

Who else but Sony would think of a game as original as this one. It is such an original idea. Great idea for your kids if they love fire works, because now, they are all year-round. The graphics get a 10, gameplay 9.5, repeat value 5.0. I say this because once you start the game, it is the same thing, no new adventures.

A minute to learn, umm... several hours to master.

The game appears to be a simple puzzler at first, part Columns, part Missile Command. And it really IS too. But between special items, explosion effects, "daisy chains," and whatnot, you've got a task on your hand. First, you'll just be trying to explode as many as you can. Then you'll be trying to connect as many colors as you can with the 'wild' fireballs. Then you'll be chaining them. (If you want some long-term goal for this game, play through the 'Hard' game to unlock the second line of Specials. Then watch the 'Ultra Chain' movie. A 430-some chain is nothing to sneeze at, and even more is *possible*.) Two player mode, which I haven't had a chance to play yet, looks like it could be trippy.

Looks better than it really is

This game I bought used, but I'm ready to rid myself of it. The graphics are OK, but the amount of play it takes you to master this game is pathetic. I beat the game after only 10 minutes of plays and Game Overs. Even the HARD MODE wasn't, ummm, hard. The part that really got on my nerves was that you can't save your game on say, level 6, turn off the system, start it back up, and have it load your save. Even if it only saved when I got the extra options, I'd be satisfied, but it couldn't even do that. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME!!!!!

Underestamated...

THIS GAME IS SO COOL! The graphics are beautiful. People say this game all around stinks, but this game is really quite fun. It is better with two people, though. (Especially when somebody steals your "starmines"!*)
I rented it tonight, and played it with a friend. They should make a Fantavision II. If you got points for destroying targets that would be even more fun.... IGNORE THE OTHERS! YOU WON'T BE LET DOWN!

*"Starmines" are periods of lots of fireworks you catch. This helps you make more points. You earn starmines by collecting stars and eventually spelling "starmine".

Glad I rented it instead of buying it

I thought this game was the worst. We put it in the PS2 and after about 5 minutes took it out and returned it to Kozmo.

All you do, is gather like objects together with the X and then set them off for a fireworks display with the O. There is competition, but this is NOTHING like Tetris.

WASTE OF TIME.

A VERY Addictive game

The whole concept of this game is a bit cheesy, but very addictive. You have to collect the flares/fireworks and explode them. I have learned that the most you collect at once, creates a bigger chain. The bigger the chain, the more points you score. After figuring out how to play, you go for the chain. There are only 8 stages to the game, which I think, is too easy. I beat the game numerous times. I'm ready for more stages of the game. :) All in all, I think any kid would love this game. The graphics are great and so are the themes. I like the "Space" theme. Also, after you beat the game, you are able to access a movie that shows you how to build your chains. You can also play all 8 stages in the chain mode. I give this game 3 stars because it is not the greatest, but it is a lot of fun and addictive.

This is a so so game not worth more then $11

Granted the game is colorful and it has a great replay option, but that's the best there is. Controlling your cursor can get a bit complicated. The announcer's voice is annoying. He reminds me of my biology teacher and I just want to snore. The rules are very simple which is good. I would say that this game makes for a great filler when you're bored and there is absolutely nothing else going on in the world.

This is Tetris with a whole new twist!

I saw what the game looks like and it looks pretty interesting. And it's like tetris but with fireworks. And plus it's almost like the same thing on July 4. So this would be a game for anybody, young or old

This game is horrible

I'd give this game 0 stars if that was possible. The graphics were pretty good, yes. But if you've played one level in this game, don't get frustrated about not getting far, they're all the same. I played this for 5 minutes, thought wow this is cool, played it for 5 more, and realized how much it really ...(stunk). Waste of $, don't let anybody pay you to buy it, or rent it for that matter.

Incompatable software.

I must be the only person that has ever tried this game using a digital optical cable for the sound. All of my audio jacks are already spoken for on my TV, so I pump the sound through my digital receiver (this is the only way I can have my PS2 hooked up). For some insane reason, the programmers of the game decided to NOT have the sound out-putted through the digital optical jack. I've troubleshooted the problem, and it is not a hardware problem, but a software defect. I've also spoken with Sony tech support (ignorance MUST be their motto) numerous times on the subject, and they know next to nothing about this deficiency. Apparently, Sony is selling game software that is not fully compatable with their own system. Gradius 3+4 also has this same defect (the opening demo movie works fine, no sound anywhere else though). I simply can't understand how all of my PS1 games have sound in my PS2, but 2 of the 5 games I own that were made specificly for the PS2, do not. If you use the optical jack on your PS2 for your sound exclusively, I would advise you to be cautious in your game purchases. Renting first or buying from retailers with flexible return policies could save you some headaches. I was excited to try Fantavision, but I find a game about fireworks (or any video game) to be ZERO FUN without sound effects and music.
