save your money...if you don't you will feel very dumb after puchasing it. The only game I ever put in the garbage can that wasn't busted.
Overshadowed by many other strategic sims....

I am a fan of the Warhammer license, however I was very disappointed when I played this game. Though somewhat addictive in the beginning levels due to the mass-strategy gameplay factor, once you begin to realize that your men are far from the "expert soldiers" they are described as, you will simply begin to become frustrated with the game and it's insanely difficult challenges. During the very first mission of the game, I pitted 12 heavily-armored cavalrymen against 10 golbin "stickers" (essentially four-foot green uglies with point sticks), and lost all but 2 of the cavalry. Is that disgusting or what? I understand that spears are supposed to be good against cavalry, but still...I played through probably three more levels, and after that I continued to have my bones broken time and again in absolutely crushing defeats. Not to mention that at the WORST times your men will run away -- for instance, when they're absolutely smashing the enemy, I've had the SAME cavalry break combat to flee, then get run down and all killed. Do not waste your time on this game -- it's a total disappointment.
THE WORST PLAYSTATION GAME I EVER PLAYED

Don't waste your time renting or buying this game, It is truly terrible. The characters are impossible to control and the battles scences are beyond your control. This game has a neat theme, and could have be worth playing, but whoever made this game needs to go back to the designing board. It seems like this game was never test marketed, because if it had, then the programmers would have made major changes. It is the worst game I have ever played.
WARNING! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

If you are looking for a really good strategy video game on the Playstation console, look somewhere else. If you are looking to be bored in less than ten minutes, then this game is for you. With lack-luster graphics, simplistic gameplay, so-so sound, the only reason to come near this game is if you are a die-hard fan of the role playing board game.
Great concept but too hard

This game is not for the faint of heart. Its an older game so dont expect superb graphics.. but then again graphics don't make every game.
The concept of this game is great and was done much better in the 'sequel' Warhammer : Dark Omen. In this game you command a mercenary army and control it during battles. Over time more and more 'units' join your army. The problem is affording the upkeep for the army... and you are not supplied sufficient reinforcements for the massive number of casualties you will incur. At first it is of reasonable difficulty but within a dozen battles you are almost at impossible odds.
If you are a hardcore fan of strategy games, try it out, but I highly suggest Dark Omen over this as it maintains a challenge, but not impossibility.
A little off the beaten path

First, let's get something straight. This game is ALL about strategy, NOT graphics, not shoot'm up, not AD&D. It is about commanding an army of increasing size on the field of battle, of knowing which units to pit against which types of enemy troops, of taking advantage of the terrain and using surprise. To that end, it is a fantastic game, IMO. You will not finish this game in one night, probably not in one month. The scenarios get increasingly difficult. The biggest thing you need to realize about this game is that it is much, MUCH wiser to play defensively and let the enemy come to you.
One major caveat is the complexity of the user interface. It will take quite a while to get used to, and even then it isn't ideal. You cannot micromanage the entire battlefield, you need to trust that some of the units can do their job, trust in the battle plan you drew up, and support the other units with a few easy to manage but powerful units.
Overall, a fantastic strategy game, only the awkward and complex interface keep it from scoring 5 stars.

This is a pretty fun game overall, but the grafixs could use some major improvement. The sound and music of this game are OK,
but i have definately seen better. But if u like games like this i would also recommend C&C Generals or any of the other games in that series.

This is very fun game. I liked it alot. You get to control an whole army with individual regiments. If you are into strategic play this is it. I wish they make more games like this. The story line is interesting, and cinamic plot is real cool.

While I do own my own Warhammer army and do love the memories of those tabletop battles, this game does much to make anyone to pull their hair out. The game has several flaws. The controls are not intuitive, making your weak wizards run into the business end of a pyschotic rat orge. Secondly, the tactics basically involve either surrounding your enemy (improbable since many of the enemies are faster than you) or blow them to smithereens with your war machines (also improbable since the cannons misfire as many times as they work). Thirdly, while the tabletop game can be played with two sides to a draw or to a bloodbath, at least initially the sides are even. The campaign is hampered with the double handicap of gold and reinforcements. If you have a bloodbath and lose your men, you have to pay throught the nose to reconstitute the regiment. The reinforcements are limitred and insufficient. Moreover, if you run out of gold to pay even the retainer fees, you face the prospect of going to battle with an army that is not up to snuff. Simply, this game is a backward version of either an RPG or s simulation. If you want to play this game, be prepared to beaten to a bloody pulp. The only redeeming factor of this game is, while the difficulty level and the learning curve are steep, that there are awesome cheat codes. The only reason why I gave this game 5 stars is that I am a huge fan of the license.
