It's Fun!

My seven-year-old is a huge Harry Potter fan. About this game, he says, "I like it. It's really fun. I haven't been to any parts I don't like. I like the part in the school because you have to fight lots of guys. I haven't seen the maze yet. It's a little bit hard."
My son has had the game for over a month and plays it often. It is challenging because he hasn't completed all the parts yet. He said the part fighting the dragon is "really hard". He has another Harry Potter gameboy game, "Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets" and he prefers this game.
I'm glad it's challenging enough that he hasn't finshed it yet and would be bored, but not so hard that he would be frustrated and not play it at all.

a must for potter fans

Game boy advance games always surprise me with good graphics and fun gameplay. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is no exception. This game allows you to control either Harry, Ron, or Hermione, each with their own strengths and weaknesses (harry is the strongest, ron's the fastest, hermione has the highest defense). This game has 11 levels ( isn't in the adventure style of its predesessors) from the Quidditch world cup campsite to a confrontation with You-Know-Who! There are wizard cards you can buy with bertie botts every flavor beans.

overall, its a fun game if you are a harry potter fan. if you aren't you'll still probably still like it.

My opinion of Harry Potter 4 on gameboy advance

This game is fun and challanging. It's not the type were you just play games like pinball. No, it's challanging. You play to pass the levels, and collect cards. And even when you pass all the levels, you're still not done. You have to go back and replay them to get cards. This game is great because you're never able to say, 'I'm done with it.'

I LOVE IT! 12 year old girl over here!!

I too have played all the GBA Harry potter games as well as all the PC versions. I think that everyones being much to hard on it. Each GBA Harry Potter Game is different and this one is no exception. Yes you have sperate levels to beat but I actually liked this because if you missed a shield or a unlock for a card you could go back and find it. I loved the DDR Yule Ball, it was so much fun! Also there are all sorts of secrets you need to unlock in the game that are from the movie! Very cool. Yes I found a glitch or two also, but consider where gaming has come from. Do you remember how many glitches were in the first two PC Harry Potter games? There were a ton. Its not the best game I've ever played certainly but it is still enjoyable and good for fans of the fanchise. Its actually a good game, don't let the other reviews scare you off!

this is a great game!!

You would love this game, especially if you're an avid harry potter fan like me. I didn't really like the two other harry potter games that I got, but I gave this one a try, and I love it!! The creatures that you must beat are hard to get to but still possible to defeat. I'm not a real game whiz, which is probably why I got stumped on the other harry potter games, but I feel like I'm halfway through beating this game, and I have yet to get stumped!! So to those people who have just gotten or is not very experienced at game boy advance, this would be an ideal game for you. The only thing that I thought needed some work was when you would meet a new creature, and the game didn't give you even a clue on how to defeat it, you're just left to try to figure it out for yourself. Also, you lose lives pretty quickly, and since this game is in autosave, you sometimes have to go back to the very beginning of the task you were on, which is very frustrating. But a good part is you can choose who you want to be for each task, which doesn't just include the triwizard tournament; you have to do a lot of other tasks that doesn't include the triwizard tournament. Anyway, back to the characters; Harry, Ron, and Hermione each have weaknesses and strengths, and you can choose from either of them depending on the task you are doing. This ability comes in handy for most of the tasks. All in all, this game deserves an B+!!

Fun puzzle adventure game, a little too easy

I enjoyed this game, but it was very easy to master. There were enough puzzles to keep it interesting and I played it through a few times just for the fun of it. I liked the music at the Yule Ball.

*** May contain spoilers ***

The flaws are this:
1) Each character (Ron, Harry, Hermione) has it's own skill levels to start, but eventually after collecting/buying enough cards, they are basically the same, so alternating characters doesn't really do much.
2) The Yule Ball and the showdown with Voldemort are more of a test of how accurately you can press certain buttons as they appear in the center of the screen, for example (A B Up Left A B A Down). This was actually annoying.
3) Finding all of the cards involved a lot of repetition. You could not just jump to one particular scene and the game autosaves as predetermined points. The payoff for collecting the Triwizard shields and cards is unlocking the 'movie' parts of the game and still photos from the movie.

Fans of the movie should enjoy, but experienced gamers will get bored quickly.

And the O.W.L.s are in..... T

Troll it is.... as a loyal Harry Potter fan, I embraced the new HP game with high expectation, and sadly, they were not met.

I have not played the other console, and pc game of the same title, so I do not know if the flaws of this version exist in the others.

What is it about this game that would get its O.W.L.s grade of Troll? I will admit, the new graphics are great, compared to previous versions, and had a great deal ammount of potental to it. but it lost it after completing the first area of the game.

Where is he familer halls of hogwarts... well, were is hogwarts itself? from the quidditch world cup you go immediatly to a small cutscene with dumbledore standing at the front of the great hall. he says a few things, and the doors open. then you are sent directly to a extra lesson with mad eye moody. then to the forbiden. oh my poor lament, my long lost hogwarts, why have you disappeared to be replaced with portkeys that that you to your next adventure with not immersive chance to walk around the school?

The first task is fairly straight forward. just fly your broom in a straight line, pressing a button to avoid obstacles, and easy to beat dragon. when the dragon comes after you going down, go up, if he comes at you going up, go down.

then the yule ball, turns into a dance dance revolution rip off. it was after this disappointed point that I gave up.

never have I played such a extremly disjointed game. there is not storyline, just random adventures that just popup.

I recommend those who want to acutally play the story, instead of bits and bobs like in this version to choose one of the other non handheld versions, and to watch reviews for them, or faqs on them to see if your getting your moneys worth, and not just a series of instantly random scene with no adventure in between.
