A Horrible Game

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 1 / 4

Novastorm is a shooter with some very cool space and planet landscapes. But the ship is absolutely unresponsive! It's easy to bump into things that can kill you and it's very hard to find the things that you're supposed to shoot! There are no FMV sequences either! DO NOT BUY!!!

INCREDIBLE! ONE OF THE BEST SPACE SHOOTERS I'VE EVER PLAYED! 9 OUT OF 10

Novastorm is incredible, but that is only one of many words to describe it. It plays fast, it's really pretty, and it's a helluva lot of fun.
WHAT THE GAME IS: It's a space shooter in vain of Starfox and Gradius. In the future computers control everything, and things seem to go alright for a while until an uprising begins to take down the system. It is your job to stop the uprising by taking on hordes and hordes of enemies.
GRAPHICS: This looks great for a Playstation game from 1995, the environments are highly detailed and very pretty, along with the bosses and the explosions.
MUSIC: Ugh, the lowest point of the game. You're better off turning it off in the options section of the menu and listening to your own music.
SOUND: Explosions, shooting, what else did you expect?
GAMEPLAY: This game seems to borrow pages from Starfox and Gradius. The shooter view is the same as Starfox, while the upgrade system from Gradius is here as well. The bosses are gargantuan like in Starfox, and even explode like in Starfox. The gameplay is extremely fast, I'm not even exaggerating. The speed of how fast you move and shoot is so fast it's not even funny, which is how this game manages to distinguish itself from its influences. The game also feels like it was extracted from an arcade because of the way it looks and plays. Oh, and you actually get a health bar instead of dying in one hit. Now you'll know why this game takes up two discs. One flaw of the gameplay is sometimes it's hard to avoid some obstacles, but it works fine most of the time, considering it only uses the directional pad for controlling your ship Scavenger 4.
OVERALL: The music is the biggest draw of this game, otherwise just about everything works perfectly and looks good. This is a highly recommended title to Starfox and Gradius fans because it mixes elements from both games and creates one incredible package. A must-have for anyone who likes games.
THE GOOD: Incredibly fast, arcade-style space shooting with a mix of Starfox and Gradius, along with incredible graphics.
THE BAD: Sucky music, sometimes some obstacles are hard to avoid.
