Gameday [stinks] horribly

Gameday [stinks] it always has and it always will now madden on the other hand rocks but its a gameday review so lets start the loading times are unbelivably long and once you finaly get in the game the graphics are a improvment but could be alot better and the jerseys colors are way off and you cant even see the helmets gameplay is bad and the commentary is worse the only good thing about the game is the opening movie(witch put a tear in my eye) also its wway too easy. the only reason you should buy the game is if you are a diehard football fan. buy madden

Get Madden

Gameday is an ok arcade game, but Madden tears it to pieces. Gameday has no where near the graphics Madden has, and Madden offers a more realistic game playing. In gameday a tiny HB can drag a DE for 5 yards. It is very similar too last years model.

This game is near identical to Gameday2000. Same music, same sound, same plays. The graphics managed to get worse, somehow. They tried to make size and speed more of a factor, but it didn't work well. Having current rosters is the only advantage.

I have owned every Gameday title, and loved every one. They always seemed to bet better and better. This version was such a step backward that I had to laugh. It was like the developers forgot they were supposed to make it, and threw together this version in a few days.

If you have Gameday2000, don't bother getting this.

Wait For Playstation 2 Version

Did you master Gameday 2000? Well I got pretty good and to my dismay realized that Gameday 2001 is even easier. My first few games of 2001 I absolutely crushed the computer on all difficult settings. The graphics aren't very different, though the music's a bit cooler. All in all, not much has changed ... .

very dissapionted

I had never bought a 989 football game before and i wish i hadnt bought this one. The graphics are horrible it looks like I'm playing on a super nintendo. If you're planning on buying this game I suggest you wait until you get a Playstation 2 because that's the only way the graphics will be better.

not bad, not great...

I have played about 15 games on gameday 2001, both against the machine and against a worthy human opponent and here are my thoughts: 1) The game play is relatively disappointing. This is the first gameday I have bought since they have begun putting dates on the titles (since '96 or '97), so my comparison is with Madden which I find to have more realistic outcomes for particular plays/action against comparable plays. For example, the sweep running play works virtually every time while runs up the middle are almost always squashed - regardless of defense alignment or situation (shouldn't a dive should be a good call against a prevent dime package?). 2) While the graphics are generally very good, the designers have made a quirky sliding action on players cuts that I find annoying. 3) The menus for establishing and playing with modified rosters for non-season games are not intuitive. 4) The statistics kept are very good. Overall, I am a little disappointed and will probably go back to Madden for my next football game, but the game is by no means a bust.

TOO EASY

I love the gameday series and 989 sports but I was very dissapointed with this years verson. It only has a two three really good points and a about 10 bad points.

Frist start off with the good points. The genaral manager mode is supurbe and the satisticts are verry good. And lastly the ability to play as a reciver and run your own route in game.

Alright heare are the big list of bad things. Running is WAY TO EASY in one game when I was the bears there running back(Curtis Enis) who is not ratted very well got 115 yards and I only ran the ball 13 times with the diffuclty on ALL PRO. The deffense is so dumb I ran the same passing play all game long and I caught it every time except once or twice. The players all look the same linemen are as skinny as wide recivers(some exceptions). After awhile you will say God Damn Phill Simms Shut Up. when I made a caught a 70 yard pass Phill Shims said "My old football caoch said look ball in hands, look ball in pit then run like heack good job." I mean did you understand that it's so dumb and he says dumb stuff like that all the time. The last Bug is a tiny one but it gets on your nerves every time you miss a sack even after the quter back has thrown the ball you will get a ruffing the passer penaltie. (Whats Up with that?)

Overall this game is way to easy and has to many bugs. the only fun part this game has is GMM (Genaral Manager Mode) and when your playing agenst a friend becaus you will have someone to laugh with at all the stupid stuff the annoucers say. In two words: Buy Madden

i'm a huge fan of sports games and football is my favorite! i like to take control of teams and feel like i'm out there on the field/sidelines! the gameday series is in my opinion the best footbal series ever! i've played many others including madden (i've not really liked the madden series but i have yet to play the 2001 version which looks pretty good)and the nfl2k for dreamcast (which has good graphics but i just don't like it). i just rented gameday 2001 and it was a letdown and i expected alot more since this will probally be the last gameday for the original playstation w/ p.station 2 coming this october. i like the addition of being able to set your rosters before a game in the season mode and the little easter egg bonus you get after a season win but there really isn't anything else new in the game. the look is exactly the same as last years (which was great as was 99)as is the stadiums (i was really looking forward to tampa's pirate ship! even new york's field is still turf!)and players like carl pickens (who of course is with the titans now and is their #1 reciver)and ben coates (who is with the ravens now) isn't even in the game! i'm also really letdown with the on field celebrations (after a bad play the player still celebrates which is really lame) and the lack of free agent players (they could've added alot more players to pick from there!)i haven't played enough of it yet (i haven't done the gm mode yet-that was one of the best things about 2000!). btw... how come it's rare to see a player fumble? on the past two gamedays i rarely saw the computer fumble but either player 1 or 2 has a button to push to make the ball carrier/holder fumble! i've also noticed that after playing this years version i didn't have 1 injury (and i played for almost 4 hours straight!). i hope that they improved the injury thing from last year cause i hated how a player of mine got hurt one game pretty bad and was back in the next one and when it said a player was out for the entire season they still came back for the playoffs (which is dumb-if you're out for the season include playoffs too-it adds to the excitement of a real football season!)while i'm not totally putting off this years gameday (i still love what 989 sports has done to their sports games and thing they all are great and overshadowed by ea sports!)i'm letdown and want more from gameday 2001! 989 has the money so why not go all out with this one and not make it look exactly the same as 2000? anyways... if you love football games i strongly recomend this game and the rest of 989's underrated games! ea sports hasn't provided the same passion in their sports games as 989 has!

Awesome game, yet challenging

I Got Gameday 2001 for christmas and have played it quite alot. It is extremely fun when you play a human opponent, but I tend to get [angry]when I play the computer because I can't beat it. It is a very good challenge and I think its better than alot of the new football games. I thought that the selection of moves couldn't be better. Overall, I thought this game was pretty good

Gameday Beats Madden Hands Down!

If you want the best NFL football game for your sony Playstation look no futher. The NFL Gameday series has had consistant gameplay and ballance for years now. You ever notice how Madden make running the football too easy one year, and near imposible the next, no consistency in gameplay there! In Gameday though the gameplay rules. Difficulty levels and computer AI are completly adjustable making it easy for players of all levels to find a proper challenge for them. At the intermediate skill level playing 8 minute quarters I often find myself stacking up some very realistic game stats. I will have a quaterback that passes for about 220-250 yards, and run the ball for about 130-150. The ballence of the offensive attack makes this game so much fun! I suggest everyone give NFL Gameday a shot over Madden.
