Sprung is akin to the Sims dating. It is menu driven, that means the computer gives you three choices to speak to the characters.
The object of the game is flirt thru 50 dating missions on your way to score. They rate this for teens, but i feel it is an adult game.
I will say this, it fills a void..since the DS dont have a version of Leisure Suit Larry ( here is the version for the PC Leisure Suit Larry Collection). I was talking to a friend of mine who is up on his computer games. He told me and I quote "Maybe in a year or two there will a Leisure Suit Larry on DS and PSP)..well I can hope
This one will have to do until Larry is released

Just so you all know, this game is what most people would label as a "Dating Sim." You likely have never played one before, because to date, the overwhelming majority of these types of games have been limited to release in Japan, where they are incredibly popular. 'Sprung' is a little different in that it is not made in Japan, and caters to a more western crowd. The reason we have not seen these types of games over here is mostly due to the reasons seen in the reviews above. Simply put, most Americans have a hard time playing a game where you don't blow things up or kill people.
This type of game strays from the norm, and actually does a fairly good job for what it is. It gets major kudos for allowing players to play as both sexes, which is typically not possible in most dating sim games. This way, it's good for a girl or a guy to play, or if youre feeling adventurous, go ahead and play the other sex and see how different tactics can be.
Some things to note, however. While this game is technically rated teen, they must have pulled some strings to get that rating. While there is nothing terribly explicit, the innuendo is heavy and strong. Also, there are some things in the game that imply don't make a lot of sense, like when someone not only gives you a dead fish, but you get it back later in the game.. While there are a fair bit of over the top wacky parts tot his game, there are plenty of realisitcally handled responses and situations for your character to experience.
Overall, I would say it's a nice entry of a dating sim into the American and European market. If you've been lookign to play a 'dating sim' and can't read Japanese, then give it a shot. It's not terribly long, but there are two storylines (one for each gender), and it looks like there are different paths to take within those storylines. However, it may be a bit pricey for some at $29.99.
An okay game

I did enjoy this game enough to solve it with both a male and a female. It is quite fun to try to use items on different people to see what will happen, like spraying them with mace. It is also interesting to see peoples' reactions when you say something shocking to them. My main complaint with this game is that although each question has multiple answers to choose from, you still aren't really making a choice. If you say the wrong thing you have to start the scene all over again. There were times I had to repeat a scene ten times or more, and that got tedious very quickly. The game does say there is more than one ending, but for the most part, you are not really choosing the outcome. I had thought the game would be more open-ended. Overall, it was interesting enough to play, but not exactly what I expected.

This game really blows. I bought it a few months ago with the expectation that it was some type of simulated dating game like the sims or something. Sadly, I've been terribly disappointed. The format and graphics look like something on GameBoy Color. All you do is choose responses to say to another person to win dates, prizes and other stuff. Let's just say in 30 min. you'll be yawning. Please don't waste your time/money on this one. It's a waste.

This game is a really good take on the non-H(japenese non sexual)date-sim.
SOUND
First Off i give the sound a 3 out of 5. The quality is great but the sound track is a bit lacking. im not saying it sucks but it could have been better. regardless the music fits the locations of the game and Elliots Loft is by far the best song in the game.
GRAPHICS
I'd give the graphics 4 out of 5. As i say its not 3-d graphics that make a game. The graphics are pretty much drawings in different poses.Meaning there are drawings for every emotion, for instance if your person just got turned down there head will go from a devious smile to a frown and a drooped head. If youve ever seen space ghost coast to coast these graphics make sense.
GAMEPLAY
I give the gameplay a 4 out of 5. If all you want is fast paced action this game isnt for you. This a text baased game meaning every thing you say or do determines if you succeed in your "Mission" For example in the game your trying to hook up with the hunk of the mountain. You could A)pick answers that make you look like a whore.B) pick answers that make you seem desperate.C)pick answers that make you look like a friend or D)Mix and match answers from all of them to make you seem perfect. Obviously d is what youd pick because an example of your answers influence is if suck with A, youd end up making out and never hearing from him again. Overall though if you want good fun to pass the time this game is a good choce.
CONTROLS
the controls get a 5 out of 5. Though it eally doesnt make use of the touch screen the controls are simple. You can use the stylus to pick your answer but frankly i gave that up after about 30 minutes. I found it much easier to just use the d-pad and press A to select answers. The controls are incredibly simple overall.
REPLAY VALUE
Replay is a 4 out of 5. Through out the game you recieve many items and are rewarded for every ten percent you get. You unlock a peice of artwork with the items plus the artwork from your missions. There are also two story lines. there is the Brett storyline where overall you try to hook up with your childhood love, Becky. And there is also the becky storyline where you try to hook-up with brett. The replay value is high because of the varing choices and oppertunities it brings up.
OVERALL
I give Sprung a 4 ot of 5 which is great. It is really good compared to the H(porn) model games from japan of this genre. Its really nicely done while keeping the game "clean" overall its An INCREDIBLE take at the genre and well deserves a 4 out of 5. If you want more "clean" titles of this genre, play Phantom of Inferno for your DVD player

While Sprung has some amusing dialogue and very nice art work, the game gets tedious really fast. Essentially, it's scene dialogue and you repeat a scene over and over until you say the right things. It's fairly simplistic to figure out the right things to say and there's no real challenge to the game at all.
The graphics are fairly impressive and I'm looking forward to future games for the DS that utilize the graphic interface and give me a challenging game to play.

This was actually a early Christmas present for me, this and my lovely Nintendo DS. Once I saw this I couldn't believe my parents would buy me such a perverted game (not that that was a problem to me) but its not like that at all so no worries. This game is actually great. Its a dating-sim in a way and sort of not. You pretty much have to experience it yourself.
Graphics
Graphics? These are not graphics. They look like real people to me. I mean seriously, this is pretty amazing. Everybody gives different emotions. They have facial expressions with even a game where you got to guess what their emotion is. They blink, have dimples, and many other extraordinary effects. The graphics are an anime/cartoonish style of people and setting. They are very realistic though, and very amazing. The girls in this game might even make you fall for them because the art work is very sexy.
Sound
Well as for noise there is not so much. The people do not actually talk in the game which is probably the only con in the game. It would make the game so much better with the characters with their each individual voices. The music fits each theme very well. If you are in a club, it plays some fast catchy music, if you are in a hot tub, it plays some nice, slow, sexy music that will surely get you into the mood. The only the noises in the game is you click the options, and maybe some little noises here and there.
Story
The story, hmmm. Well you start off choosing one of the stories, Brett's or Becky's. They are both very steamful and very sexy. Your mission is to hook up with some ladies you meet with multiple choices. Brett has a secret crush on Becky, but still wants to have a fun time on his skiing trip on Snow Bird Mountain. He comes with his friends Danny and Lucas who also are up for the ladies. Brett has to score with the ladies and work. Becky's story is almost the same. She comes to Snow Bird Mountain to get away from her cheating ex, and pursue a modeling career. Also to have a good time.
Gameplay
Well there really is not any way to be good or bad at this game. The controls are....well clicking some words. You do have to have reading skills to play this game, because you will be doing some reading, actually lots of it. You must have some skills in the dating game and being a Mr. Nice guy. Also you must know how to actually play the field of ladies or men too. Each character has a bunch of scenes with a mission. You complete that mission by saying some of the right things, you move onto the next one.
Replay
You will probably will only be playing this game again to show your friends or for a laugh. Like said in almost every other review, by the time you play it again, you will know the outcomes and know which things to say. It is always fun to use some items on people, like the pepper spray and see how people react to different things. You also have two stories to play. Playing this over and over though, you will still get a good laugh out of the jokes and really funny comments made in this game. So you will get a kick out of the replay value.
Rent Or Buy
If you own a Nintendo DS, this is a must buy. It is like one of those games you must have for that system. It is only around thirty bucks, and it is worth the money. You will have a great time playing it and wont regret it. I mean how could a Dating Sim not be fun. It might even be used as a study guide!

wow i bought this game(like an idiot) thinking it would be something fun like the sims but just dating instead of always having to eat and pee. WELL JUST FOR YOUR INFO THIS GAME SUCKS!!!wow where do i start first of all there are only 2 hott girls in the game and 3 are ugly. i mean that is sucks because i do not want to date ugly girls. some levels are extremely hard to win like the one where u have to get panties and a dragon tattoo.(what the?!?! a dragon tattoo?)oh yea and if u r gonna buy this game 2 see some panty shots sucks for u because there are none and when we friggen beat the game all that happens is it says congradulations and shows a picture of u kissing the girl...THAT SUCKS...oh yea u cant even walk around in the game all u do is just talk. yes the music is extremely repetetive although nice at first. no girl in real life is as hard to hook up with as they r in this game. well the only good thing about this game was put me in a skiing/snowboarding mood(oh yea u cant do that either)because it is set a ski logde. Instead of buying this game save up your money and go skiing. and if u dont have that much just buy the sims.

The game itself, one can't really go on expecing a whole lot. The game itself really has on free play. it's not like you can choose whom you wind up with.
The game comes with specific tasks for one to complete, and thats what you do is play through the tasks. It CAN be quite tedious if you mess it up because now you've got to run through from the beginning and fix it, and if you mess up the step after it's back to start with you.
Overall i could say the graphics were gameboy-ish but in it's own way very cute and charming. The Characters indeed have the emotions, and it's possible to upset the characters if you ignore them long enough. So in that retrospect it is interesting to play but if you're looking for serious freedom in the game this is not the 'Dating Sim' For you.
The best game I never played.

Honestly, I never played the game. I simply never got the chance, as the game was hi-jacked by my girlfriend. Who simply ADORED Sprung! She played it over and over again. She laughed out loud. She blushed. Her toes curled.
My curiosity was piqued. I just had to know what the fuss was about. I just had to know why my Nintendo DS was being bogarted. After a few minutes of looking over her shoulder - I understood.
The game isn't your typical videogame, by any means. Instead, it is a "digital comic" - a popular game genre in Japan. (To date and to my knowledge, the only other digital comic game to have made it to U.S. shores was Snatcher for the Sega CD.) This game is essentially a "choose your own adventure" book, but with the added benefit of lush and modern graphics and catchy music.
The humor borders on adult and is well suited for a teen audience. Basically, it adheres to modern television standards. Ultimately, parents will have to decide if their child should play this game.
As it stands, the game is fantastic for young girls and guys alike. However, some of the more insecure guys may feel uncomfortable playing a game that doesn't involve mutilations and prostitute killing.
