I don't play many video games, but this one caught my eye. I've played Guitar Hero on the Wii, so I was familiar with the game play. The pick stylus is awesome to use and very forgiving. Lots easier to use than the bar on the Wii guitar. The only thing that is a little wonky is that it is hard to plug in a DS headphones next to the DS Guitar Hero finger control. They want to push each other out. But so far it hasn't happened during game play. Very fun game, even for someone who is a rare video game player like me.

i got my guitar hero last night and have been playing it hours since. i love it.
i have a little trouble hitting the blue button with my pinky finger but otherwise, it is great. it will take a little getting used to but once you have the feel for it, you will "rock out". i am a classic rock kind of girl, so the songs are a bit foreign to me. there were a few that i love and are on my ipod, but for the most part, i really didn't know them. i would recommend this game. it is challenging and fun. it certainly will provide you with hours and hours of playing.
Simply amazed that they pulled it off

When I heard that Guitar Hero was coming to the DS I thought it would be a sad attempt to capitalize on the current craze for the console games. Wow, was I wrong. This is as fun a handheld game as I have ever played and I haved played quite a few. Even the add-on is comfortable once you find a good position. I lay the DS down on a tiled angle against a bag and can play for hours with no cramping. The amazing intuitiveness of the gameplay really makes the day. I am sure they will come out with additional song carts and I will buy then day one.
Maybe the wait wasn't really worth it

I first heard they were thinking about a DS version of Guitar Hero maybe a year ago. I was looking forward to it because at the time I didn't own my own PS2.
I was so excited when I saw the sale flyer for this week at work I was so excited.
I bought Guitar Hero on Tour on tuesday and after spending a good 2 minutes searching for the pick stylus I've beat quite a few songs. The guitar grip makes play slightly difficult and the game is definitely more challenging then the other versions.
I always miss consecutive same color long notes. usually because im using the whammy bar and dont stop in time to strum the next note.
The songs in the game are great and there are some different venues which make it more interesting.
Overall I'd say the game is maybe worth about $10 less than the current retail price. It is the most expensive DS game out there. If you love the other versions of Guitar Hero go for it. It is nice to be able to play on the go and to not have a giant guitar in your lap.
There is some minor pain involved in whichever hand is holding the DS but thats true with all versions.
hmm... 3.5 stars..

The game is a lot of fun once you get use to it. I would say the learning curve for me was at least a half hour before I gave up and did the tutorial really quick (then I felt really stupid). For me the game is a lot easier than the other guitar hero I have (ps2 version). I'm really very horrible at the ps2 version and I don't think I've ever completed a song on the hard level. On this version I've been able to complete a handful of songs on the expert level.. crazy. I refuse to shout rock on.. or rock out.. to get star power. I feel like an idiot doing that. Touching the star power meter works just fine for me! There is a very limited number of songs but I did enjoy a handful of them. After two or three songs your hand starts to ache.. but I guess that happens with all the versions to some extent.
If you enjoy the GH series this might be a letdown.. paying $50 for songs you've most likely played. But if you've been waiting to check these games out I would highly recommend getting this game because it is a unique way to play Guitar Hero.

I'm sorry I thought the grip was going to be bigger. I mean I knew it was four buttons, but they had the room on the ds to make those buttons slightly bigger.
But once you learn your way around those tiny buttons, the game is full of fun songs (but seriously why Smashmouth and stop with Kiss!!) I'm a fan of the venues nothing like playing on giant octopus.
A great space and money saving version of the game

I don't have one of the big consoles, so this is a relatively inexpensive way to enjoy the game. And, it saves space too! Do pay attention to the ergonomics, after just a couple songs, I can see where I would have pain if I played too long. Resting the DS on my belly took the stress off my wrist- not having to support the DS and move my fingers at the same time.
Overall, the game is great, just as much fun as the other versions, yet portable. I heartily recommend this for anyone who has a DS.
Sweet Game

Pros: Easy to learn, good sounds, good audio quality, never gets boring, lots of different modes, mix of older and new songs.
Cons: Causes my arm to ache and cramp a lot, need to go to a hotspot to play online, not very many songs.(25)
Overall it's an awesome game. It doesn't matter if you have bought and played all the Guitar Hero titles or if this is your first one. If this IS your first time in the Guitar Hero series, then don't worry about picking it up. They have awesome practice modes where you can speed down the song and a tutorial.
I'm very surprised at the sound quality but I wish there were more songs to choose from. But they did include more up-to-date songs then last time including Here It Goes Again by O.K Go. But they didn't forget the older songs like We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister.
I would definatly reccomend getting this game.
Lots of fun, in spite of the hand cramps!

I, unfortunately, do not have one of the larger game consoles. When I played Guitar Hero at a friend's house, I ALMOST wanted to shell out the money for a bigger system and the game, but I restrained myself when I found out this DS version was coming out.
No, it's not the original. I did the tutorial and found it very easy to pick up. Some people thought it was difficult because of the smaller fret buttons, but I am better at it than I am at the original. So, I guess we're all different.
I'm not big on the song selection, and yes, my hand cramps if I play too long, but all in all, I'm enjoying this game thoroughly and I'm glad I bought it.
Good, but....

Great game, overall. The only complaint I have is that the fret pad is far too small for me. The strap that came with it makes it almost unusable (I had to remove the strap).
Other than that, a fine game for the DS.
