Now I remember why I hated the original NES version so much. This game SUCKS. WAY too hard - its not even like "oh, this is so challenging I want to try it again and again." This game is "oh, I want to throw my new GBA out the closest f-ing window I can find!" Arthur moves like he has a stick up his you know what, the monsters can waste his armor and stupidly naked body WAY WAY too easily. Its probably one of the most annoying games I could ever hope to buy, and if it didn't cost me 30 dollars I'd take great pleasure in smashing it violently with a hammer. I gave it the benefit of a doubt b/c it was supposedly new and improved - DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. Maybe I can salvage some of my dignity and sell it on ebay or something...but STAY AWAY unless you like to torture yourself.
There's something not right about this installment of G&G.

I know what it is now, IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT! G&G games are understandibly difficult, but this goes one step further. You now have to find a braclet to truly defeat Satan at the end. ????....What?!!! It's hard enough just trying to stay alive in this game, but now you have to find a bracelet? Not to mention, if you happen to pass it up, you can't go back to gt it. Then there is a level where you are required to jump to a ledge, before the one you're on falls, but that ledge is concealed. You're expected to phychicly know where it is.
It was frustratingly fun to play, but once I beat it and found out about the braclet search, I quickly put it away to collect dust. My sanity is worth more than Princess Gueniever's life. Satan can have her.

One of my favorite arcade game back in 80s was Ghost and Goblin, the very first installment of the series. I still remember pouring in countless coins to play that well-made game... And believe it or not, I'm playing this third installment on GameBoyAdvance.. I have nothing to complain here.
Super Ghouls N Ghosts is the remake of Super Nintendo Version of Ghost and Goblin series, where they implemented this infamous double jump. This game is about timing, your ability to deal with the situation quickly, jumping with your instinct.. And this this double jump, it added much more possibilities, much more moves you can pull out in the game. They transported this sequel faithfully from Super Nintendo and I had to finish it in couple days. I had to finish it in couple days because not only I was in for nostalgic mood but also severely addicted to it. I've been playing games for latest systems yet finding myself putting down controller so easily due to games' lack of genuine game play.. yet this game is so addictive that I had to finish it in couple days.. It really shows what genuine 'gameplay' of a game can pull out time after time.
You play this game and you tell me- Beautifully drawn graphic, more-than-perfect-atmosphere-creating music, intuitive, intuitive control, and challenging game play which still shines after all these years.
I happened to have compilation disc for import Sega Saturn, which contains original Ghost N Goblin, Ghost N Goblin 2, and this SNES version. And trust me, being able to play this third installment before bed time, during break, while walking, it's just priceless-
They have included the original version with rearranged version. Original version does faithfully play like original version. Moreover, rearranged version included this never-been-played-before levels, which is partially from previous Ghost N Goblin series. That's right, they've included more stages from other installment.
I have no choice but to give 5 Stars for Super Ghouls N Ghosts because I'm truly grateful for being able to play this very game on GBA. Of course, this game does provide you with challenging gameplay because that's the trade mark for Ghost N Goblin series. I wouldn't want this game to be finished in one sitting and never play it again- I rather play them again and again to finish it and trust me, it's gonna take awhile to figure out the rearranged mode to play those 'new' stages. Man, I'm in for real treat these days, Super Mario(Yoshi's Island), new Castlevania, and Super Ghouls N Ghosts- Somebody pinch me!
Enjoy it.
PS: I love this kind of game; where you make mistake, then you are over. Not that you have health point to be depleted, but every move, every decision to either jump, crouch, move, or attack has to be decided quickly or otherwise you are a dead man. Man, I wish Capcom would bring out first two series in one gamepack eventually if that's possible- Either this or that, I welcome the idea of bringing over those classics, just bring'em in!
Really Really Really Hard

This game is difficult. If you manage to get past the third level you are a hardcore gamer. This game rocket science seem easy. i would only recommend this game if your up for the challenge of getting killed after cheap shots and no check points in the middle of the level at all. The frustration level of getting all the way to the boss and dying after a cheap shot and having to start the level all over again is only for someone who wants the glory of saying they beat this game. All i can say is good luck.
I liked the Genesis version...this one makes me cringe...

What happened? Why is this game so hard? If you can past even the first level, you're gonna have sore thumbs. The Genesis version was actually FUN, this is not. You gotta be some kind of Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts supreme hardcore gamer to even beat this game. Matter of fact, has anyone even beat this game yet?...
Ghouls'n Ghosts is not for the easily frustrated!!!!

Okay! The game is hard!!! The game play is fun!!! It is gonna take forever to advance through the levels but it has beautiful graphics, wonderful sound and an addictive atmosphere all its own.
Try the different weapons out in various sections to see which will help you survive best! I was so happy to find this classic for the GBA. Did I ever love this on my old Sega Genesis 16!!!!
What high blood pressure?!!! Who me? Get going again dear Arthur!!!!!
An excellent game is revived

Back in the day, Capcom released a side-scrolling action-adventure game that would go onto become a classic. That game was called Ghosts And Goblins. Even today, the game remains a cult classic. It's not surprising that with the arrival of Nintendo's new gaming system, the Super Nintendo, Capcom wished to make a sequel to their NES classic, which has since been ported to the Game Boy Advance. How does Super Ghouls And Ghosts measure up? Read on for my review.
PROS:
-VERY GOOD GRAPHICS FOR THIS KIND OF GAME. Although this was one of the first games ever made for the Super Nintendo, it remains one of the best LOOKING ones that doesn't use the Super FX chip or advanced computer modeling.
-PLAY CONTROL IS SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT. Jump, shoot, and move. It doesn't get much easier than that to control your character. When it comes to play control, simple is best, and this game demonstrates that beautifully.
-ATMOSPHERE. The game's got spooky music (music is probably my favorite thing about this game), a variety of monsters, and a cool hero character. It's especially funny when your character in armor gets hit and is forced to run around in his underwear.
-COOL ITEMS, OLD AND NEW. The game has the weapons you loved in the first game, like the spear and torch, plus new items like special suits of armor that enhance your abilities.
CONS:
-NOT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST GAME. The first game on the NES was an excellent game for its time, and while this is an excellent sequel, it just doesn't make enough improvements on its predecessor.
-STILL INSANELY HARD. Take two hits and you're dead. This game isn't nearly as hard as its NES precedessor, but it's still difficult nonetheless, so don't expect a free ride.
-NOTHING REVOLUTIONARY. This is a good game, but it's nothing we haven't seen before.
OVERALL:
Overall, this is an excellent game. If you own a Game Boy Advance that's just gathering dust, head down to your local games dealer and buy this game. If you're a fan of side-scrolling action/adventure games, it's doubtful you'll be disappointed with this one.
One of the best side scrolling action games ever!

Classic game. Yes, the game is difficult, but its not impossible to beat. I can proudly say I have won this game! I find the challenge curve to be exciting and not dull. This version is much better than the SNES version cause you can save your position on the cart without having to use a silly password.
The key to enjoying this game...

...is to have the right weapon. Literally.
To reduce the difficulty in this game as much as possible, look for the weapon that fires diagonally.
The Pros:
1. Nostalgic Value: This was one of my first games for the SNES. 2. Great Music: I remember all the songs even after losing the game 10 years before.
3. Cartrage Save Feature: not only does it allow you to take a break without losing your progress, but you can also make it so you start every stage with the best upgrade.
4. Arrange mode: New stages add to the variety.
Cons: 1. You have to go through the game twice to beat it, and the item you must obtain in the second quest is very awkward and clumsy to use. However, you can get it on the first runthrough in "Arrange mode"
2. in "Arrange mode", you have to beat a level with upgraded armor(which means making it to the boss and then beating it without taking a hit) to get a new stage instead of the SNES stage
3. the difficulty CAN be annoying in several places, especially with those darn gargoyals.
4. No Sound test. The SNES Version had one, why not this?
Overall, this game is not too bad. I only gave it three stars because of the whole second quest deal and the expectation that you be an expert to see any new stages.
Hardest game I've ever beat.

Wow, what a game. The theme is just stupid cool. The soundtrack is pleasing. The gameplay....insanely difficult! Real tough! When I went through this game all the way it was on SNES....it took me 4 months on easy! I had to leave my SNES on for the whole 4 months. I wish I would have had this gameboy version that lets you save:( If you like a challenge, this is truely the game for you.
