A great combat game (which is what it's supposed to be)

This game can be either really easy or really hard, depending on the settings the player chooses. There are two settings that really matter in terms of difficulty: difficulty level and control type. Difficulty level determines how hard it is to take out enemy planes, how easily you get shot down, and how hard it is to evade enemy missiles. Control type is found in the options menu (when you select a mission) and has an even bigger effect. With the novice (defalt) controls, your plane automatically turns back to level after turns and you can't control yaw (rotational turn left and right) or invert. On expert mode, you can do anything: barrel roll, reverse illemans, REAL break turns, etc. The latter makes the already difficult levels nearly impossible (except for dogfights, which are much easier with expert controls). Secondly, the levels are incredibly detailed; at one point, you fly into an enemy base that is in caverns in a mountain. It feels like mission impossible. Finally, I don't know what people are talking about when they say that the plane you choose doesn't matter. It does. Just trust me. I would recommend this game to almost anyone. It does a good job of making levels hard for better replay value and allows you to some crazy moves with experts controls. Its best trait is that you can play it on two different levels: a plane-based shoot-em-up or a combat intensive flight-sim.
The best game for Sega Dreamcast

I belive this is one of best games I have ever played because it has great graphics and tons air planes and levels. How many other games can you speed over 800mph and be shooting at moving airplanes at the same time?
Great game - minor bug

AFD has great graphics and a good selection of aircraft; once you get it to load. For some reason my 4 month old Dreamcast has trouble recognizing AFD as a game. It sometimes locks-up loading levels, also (I found a little jiggle to the DC unit while loading actually helps - a practice I don't really like doing). Personally I'd like the replay to allow me to choose the perspective(s), but that's minor. Overall, it's a great game (although after beating it it seems a little repetitious; I'm still trying to see if it'll unlock more aircraft on more difficult levels)!
A decent game but lacking in any real originality

This game reminds me of the old Afterburner game for Nintendo, but with better graphics. It is simple to play and enjoyable for waisting 15 minutes, but there is nothing here to make you want to beat the game. The levels are all basic shoot the target, don't get shot down. The planes all look nice but the lack of decent computer AI makes the various statistics redundant. The only reason to buy this game is the lack of any better combat flight sim for the DC.
Fun, but nothing new

the game is fast paced and fun. there are many aircraft to choose from and the ability to buy your favorites is a nice feature. the game never bogs down it is action all the way. unfortunatly where the game does lack is in deapth. if you have played bogey dead six or ace combat series then you will notice that there really is nothing new. they are all basicly the same game. the mission breifs could have been a bit better as well. the graphics are good but not anywhere near the level that the dc can produce. but it was fun and i enjoyed playing it. if you liked the others you will like this one.
A truly GREAT flight experience

Air Force Delta is one of the sweetest games on the Dreamcast! The graphics are not great but they are cool and more than get the job done. The varing missions keep the game refreshing and exciting and add a lot of replay value. The music is not worthy of a seperate cd soundtrack but it is good for the game. There are TONS of planes to buy which add some depth to the game because you have to choose a good plane for the various missions.
Is you want a great flying experience for the Dreamcast look no further.
Realistic graphics, but missions get VERY hard and tedious

Air force Delta may look like a great game, and it is, but the missions get way too hard. The very first time I played it I thought it was amazing and I would really enjoy it. But it gets longer and longer until finally you lose interest in it. It is pretty fun, and the graphics are awesome, but you will get bored of it.
BORRRRRRRRING!!!!

This game is very easy to pick up and play. The power of the Dreamcast is fully demonstrated with Air Force Delta. After finishing a mission, the player can review the whole combat scene from start to finish. The replay shows all angle of air combat. It's like an animatd movie. This is a must see and a must buy!!

This is a great first gen flight experience and is graphically pleasing to play. Flight physics aren't realistic but this is, after all, an arcade flyer. Rent before you buy if you're not into flyers but if you're into flight sims - you'll love this. Go ahead and pick it up..... One of the top 5 titles for Dreamcast I've played so far - (Out of 9)....
