Prepare to spend many many many fun-filled and amazing hours at your computer after purchasing this product. If you're getting it for your children, prepare not to see them till they're in their early 20's.
This game is addicting and extremely fun. Everytime you turn it on its a new world to explore and change. Not to mention the fact that this version of the Sims 2 comes with an expansion pack AND stuff pack for the price of the original game alone! Its a great deal that anybody who doesn't own the Sims 2 should not pass by!

Okay, I usually don't do reviews but I had to do one for this game. It's simply amazing. Three games for the price of one is enough to make this a worth while purchase but the game play just puts it over the top! I've heard about the Sims for awhile now but it just didn't interest me at the time. Then I purchased the game for my PSP and I liked it enough to purchase it for the PC.
And I was blown away.
To me it's WAY better on the PC and the game is more engrossing. I just can't pull away from it and most days I'm playing it well into the morning. To anyone who's never played you don't know what you're missing. Don't believe the hype? Purchse the game and you'll be a believer.

Ah, the Sims. Wonderful little creatures that obey our every commands, making us feel like God, only without some smart-a$$ coming along and nailing things to cathedral doors.
You're doubtless quite familiar with the Sims as a premise. Basically you create and control people. You run every aspect of their lives. You make them do their bidding, and if that means building a house full of nothing but wooden furniture and fireplaces, then by gum, you can do that!
"Sims 2" is a massive improvement over the original game. It took everything that was good about the original and basically set it to eleven, while toning down a lot that wasn't so great (you don't have to micromanage your Sims nearly as much). With this game you get a whole new set of bells and whistles, including a 3D enviroment, Sims that actually age and will eventually die of old age (provided you aren't the sort who tells them to go swimming and then deletes the ladder so they can't leave the pool. Mwa-ha-ha-ha!), new jobs, new aspirations, new gizmos, new building options, etc, etc!
It can be kind of overwhelming at first, but if you start out small the game will guide you, and you'll soon be running people's lives just like that one aunt you have who thinks she knows exactly how everyone should do things and loves to tell you, at length, about how you're messing up your life!
This pack includes the original game, the "Nightlife" expansion pack, which adds dating, a new area for the Sims to visit and vampires! You also get the "Celebration Stuff" pack, which gives you a lot more new stuff to use to decorate your Sims homes for the holidays! It's a pretty complete package, but you'll probably also want to pick up The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack, which adds another set of places to go, things to do, and a whole new life-stage (young adult).
I can't say enough good about this game, and the only real flaw is that, as I alluded to, you'll lose your social life. But you'll have your Sims, and that will at least somewhat make up for it!

This product is great for so many reasons! It provides unlimited hours of fun and you will never get tired of it. You can create your family and then build your life on the choices that you make for your Sims. You can buy or make their house and decorate it with the thousands of design options and decor. Your Sim children can go to school and even impress the professors enough to get into a private school. The aldult Sims can get a jab, write novels, take care of children, or sit at home all day if you want them to. You can make them do what YOU want. You will never get bored while playing this game. Once you get the hang of how to do things in the game you will feel like an experienced player. Although you can learn how to play this game to its fullest in less than an hour. I play this game often and will continue to. I hope that you buy this game as it is well designed and easy to navigate. I strongly reccomend this product.

This was a good purchase. After a week of play I am so hooked. This game has so much more depth than the original Sims. As a middle-aged adult, I had been losing interest in a lot of offerings in Video games. It's hard to get a good game for PC anymore with the Console market drawing all the cash. The added expansion packs in the deal made it sweeter. I can't find enough time to spend with this game. My only complaints are trivial and related to some options in the game.
I wouldn't want my children to play this game. Some optional relationships in the game do not match up with my Christian beliefs. I am old enough and experienced enough to know my orientation but I don't want my kids to have options "I" don't want them to have until they are old enough to make decisions on their own responsibility. I don't expect or require anyone to agree with my opinion or comments.
That said, it's a great game. Buy it.

Addictive. That pretty much sums up my experience after having played The Sims 2 Double Deluxe and even still does to this day. Many real hours have passed by as I defiantly fought sleep in an attempt to keep my Sims in a happy blissful state without having their needs deteriorate or worse yet burning down the multi-simoleon hacienda I built for my well-to-do sim.
If not for the need to purchase other similarly addictive expansions being on a budget, this game would have easily gotten five stars. Though the game does include the one expansion "Nightlife" and "Celebration Stuff" add-on in addition to the nifty DVD with bonus content to be fair.
Nevertheless The Sims 2 Double Deluxe was well worth my time and money. Now if you excuse me I have to be getting back to the kitchen before my sim sets the house on fire...again.
As good as they say

I ordered this for my daughters. Our oldest (12) has been playing it at a friends house and has been asking for her own copy for a couple of months. It is easy to set up, the graphics are very nice, and the game play is virtually limitless. *Warning* your kids will get sucked into it and lose countless hours glued to the computer. We have enforced time limits for our kids. Also, part of the game play does involve the characters having sex. It seems that's the only aspect of the game that my 12 year old daughter is interested in. As a father, you can probably understand that this doesn't entirely sit well with me. Fortunately, we have an open relationship with our children, we have discussed real life sex well before the Sims ever came into our household, and we do have great children. When our 8 year old is playing with her older sister, the Sims go shopping, or redecorate, or go to work...and only go to bed to sleep. It is a fun game to play, and it does help to teach kids about adult responsibilities.
It takes up/uses a lot of RAM - which can often cause the game or even the computer itself to freeze up -- so, save your progress and save it often

Fun game. It's pretty much the same as the first Sims, though. If you have the first Sims, I wouldn't recommend buying this because they're so similar. However, I would recommend it if you don't have the Sims and are wondering which one to buy. Or, better yet, wait a couple more months for Sims 3 :).
