Beware spyware

The worst simulator I have ever used.
It is loaded with serious spyware. Run "Ad-aware" etc asap!
I have "Train simulator". It's great! I am a commercial pilot, I have MS Flight Sim 2004" It is also great.
Yeah, you can drive a big boat. You have NO data. Speed, heading, optional views of your 300' boat, all not evailable. You don't know whether you are in forward, reverse, or nutral. Untied from the dock? How about your distance from Other ships? I could handle this, IF I knew where I was going? Is there other trafic? How fast am I going? How deep is the water?
The screen is blury, and in the same quality as the (very) old DOS games.
I've only used it once, But at the least, it is very user unfreindly.
Don't waist your money at this time.

Not quite what I had expected. I ordered the game after reading about it on the Auran website and other places, thinking it would be more like TRS 2006, Railroad Tycoon or some other game in which you picked up cargo, passengers, etc., and delivered these/them to some destination elsewhere. I was surprised when I found that about all you really do is manuver your ship from one point to the other. To me the game was no fun at all and a big flop. Unlike Trainz and other games or sims, there isn't that much scenery, just the outskirts of cities as seen from dockside and baywise. This game might get raves from some and, in a few years might be a lot better but for now it definately isnot for me.

Good, but not great.

This game has realistic naval and vessel controls according to the proper vessel and the year of construction, but it tends to be slower and there aren't as many options as I had hoped. The only game that has met my match was a PC game I ordered through the internet last year called Virtual Sailor 7.0. Unfortunately I also have a new computer too, because that game corrupted my PC. The weather, vessel and other functions on that game were fantastic. Nothing has come close to it.

Not a top quality program. The graphics are not top level, and the gameplay gets stale very quickly. It crashed to desktop, and by the time that happened I had pretty much lost my interest in it.

It seems obvious that this is a first edition. Generally the ships handle very realistically but not being able to save your progress in a particular mission is a big draw back. Since you are dealing slow moving vessels it can take a lot of time to complete one mission. I can't always spend that much time for one mission. You must complete each in turn to continue to the next so I doubt I will ever get beyond mission 26 because of the time it takes.
The Titanic missions are the real treat to play. Being able to walk the decks gives a small feeling of what it was like for size at least.
I would recommend the game to any one that knows a little about that ship.

The boats in this game are difficult to control. The graphics are well done, though.

Much more than a game

Did you ever wonder what it would have been like to sail Titanic into New York harbor? That would be serious business and so is this software. The program features various vessels, along with Titanic all then way down to a 35 footer, participating in missions in four different locations with you in command. The ships respond realistically to engine and rudder commands. I found it to be the closest thing to actually being on the bridge out at sea. Young gamers may not have the patience required to handle these missions in real time, reading charts, minding weather conditions and being ever watchful for other ships in the shipping lanes. The supplied documentation leaves a lot to be desired and is particularly silent on editing missions or creating your own which would be fun if they only bothered to explain how. And the scenarios for the power racing boat are unrealistic to the point of being rediculous, with jumps, requiring speed to accomplish, placed too close to spectator boats. But there are plenty of other pre-programmed missions for the other ships to keep you busy for quite a while. Despite a few shortcomings I do recommend this especially for boating enthusiasts who are house-bound during the winter months on land. Try it, full speed ahead.

Easy to use even on a laptop with keyboard controls. Pleasant experience with many ship selections and manoevering options available. Realistic shoreside simulations. Many advanced options. An enjoyable game for those who love the sea and always dreamt of being captain of their own ship. Watch for the icebergs!

This game is fun for people who love to drive boats and everything about boating. If you ever wanted to be a captain and not go through the trouble of taking a test and buying a boat then this is your chance.

Ship Simulator is a winner!

An excellent simulation. A great selection of ships to Captain, and
many pre-defined tasks to complete that help the user become familiar
with the different handling characteristics of ships from smaller speed
boats on up to huge ocean liners. A super selection of add-ons is also
available.
