I got this game thinking it would be pretty stupid, but it was actually pretty awesome. This game is great if you like stratagy games or even just a really historical war game, that takes place in actuall pow camps used by the germans in world war 2. I highly recomend this game.
POW - underrated, intriguing, and often outstanding

Other press reviews were fairly harsh on the graphical aspect of the game, but loved its other features. Personally I felt the 1024 resolution was very clear and well executed - not MOHAA quality but certainly immersive. Having grown up on Colditz as a TV show in England and the board game (remember those?) I was particularly keen to check this game out. I was not disappointed. Engaging and nonrepetitive music that builds in tension; excellent voice overs; sneaky and interesting gameplay; and of course finally a chance for me to see a virtual Colditz. You'll love this game if you value brain over brawn.
For a budget priced game....

You get full priced value. While this has been out for a couple of years now the graphics may appear out-dated to some of the more 'seasoned' shooter players. The gameplay, however, more than makes up for that. This is one of those games that starts a bit slow, but picks up steam after you learn more about the sub-plot themes and what your role is as an assassin. The gameplay surpasses any grumble over 'minor' issues with powerhouse graphics. They are not at all bad anyway. The sounds are top-notch. You can almost smell the humidity. The program had a good length for me. About 14 hours. Not bad. But, let the plot unfold a bit before putting this away to be forgotten. You'd be missing out on a really high quality shooter. With a touch of RPG thrown in for good measure. Worth every penny and then some.

**** In PRISONER OF WAR, you play as Captain Lewis Stone. You are a survallince Captian of your plane, when it is shot down. You are capured by Germans and are now a Prisoner of War. You must play your way through 5 levels stealing cars, impersonating guards, and running away to freedom. You have to escape from 3 different camps, of which you visit most more than once in different seasons. It's an exiting game. It's worth the money. I gave it four stars. ****
Very good, but somewhat esoteric

I bought Prisoner of War for five dollars on a whim, thinking I might give it a chance. I'm more of a casual gamer, I don't own any console systems and occasionally play games on my PC. Usually, I go in for strategy games such as Civilization, so this was a bit of a departure. I was not disappointed. The game encompasses the elements of espionage and timing in the noir mold. You do everything from pulling heists at night to decieving guards during the day. I was surprised by the exceedingly British flavor of the game, which goes far beyond the extra 'u' in 'favour.' I gave Prisoner of War four stars because I really enjoyed it, though I realise it is a bit of a departure from the mainstream and ultimatly is not for everyone.
IT'S OKAY.

ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF EVERYTHING IT'S AN OKAY GAME. NOT LIKE MEDAL OF HONOR OR CLOSE BUT DECENT IN IT'S OWN WAY. BUY THE LESS EXPENSIVE OFFERS AND YOU'LL FEEL BETTER ABOUT IT AFTER YOU START PLAYING.

Surely it's a bargain priced game but it is kinda outdated and slow paced. If you can handle that, it's a good deal but i lost interest after a few hours.

As a fan of the games Thief and Hitman, and also a total WWII freak, this game seemed intriguing.
I guess it was an impulse purchase...great box graphics and interesting concept compelled me to buy Prisoner of War. After loading it and playing for just a few minutes, I knew I had been ripped off. Graphics are seriously outdated, dialogue is laughable, and the enemy reminds me of the Three Stooges.(except that the three stooges were alot more intelligent)
So after 15 minutes I practically fell asleep. If you have been living under a rock and have never seen a video game...you might enjoy this. For the rest of you, don't become a victim of this scam.
I'd rather be a real POW than play this game.

Before playing Prisoner of war I thought it was going to be a really cool and fun game to play. So you can understand my excitment when I first started playing it. But eventually I realized that it was a REALLY bad game. I kept telling myself, "It's going to get better. It's going to get better." but I was wrong. It doesn't.
I find it hard to believe that this game was released on XBOX, I mean it's graphics are some of the most horrible I've seen in a game this day in age. I mean, it should have MUCH better graphics than it does given the technology that is available these days and the fact that it was released on the graphically best console system in history so far, XBOX. The cutscenes are extremely poor, especially the opening one. The voice acting and sound effects are also very bad. Plus the fact that the prisoners are allowed the relative liberty that they are and the Commandants of the camp never yell and the guards never beat the prisoners. Trying to find currency (assorted objects used as money for the prisoners), objects to help you escape, and ways to escape is all this game is. But doing all this is extremely boring.
Trying to escape can be hard and frustrating yet it can be too easy as well. Example: I was running from this guard and I went into an empty gatehouse and crouched in it. It was one of those gatehouses thats just wood with a wide open entryway. I mean, all the guard had to do was walk by and look at the entryway and there I'd be, but instead I hear him say, "Hey! Where'd he go! I must be going mad. I found myself skipping morning and evening roll call and hiding from the search parties (which are extremely easy to hide from. I mean, I hid in the outdoor showers and they didn't find me lol) just to create a diversion from the boring normal gameplay. If you're running from the guards you can go into your barracks, they'll see you go into your barracks, and they won't chase you.
It's just dumb stuff like that that makes this game really dumb and boring.
