This program is an excellent game and has lots of action. I have not been disappointed with ANY of the POP trilogies. They all have kept my interest with challenging puzzles and intense gameplay. Check it out for yourself!

The Prince is back... with attitude!

The second installment of the Prince of Persia series was a fantastic ride through a dark world of time-travel and Middle-Eastern design and architecture. If you loved the 'Arabian Nights storybook' feel of the first game, I'm sorry but that is gone and replaced by a darker, more mature feel that mixes in combat and an industrial rock soundtrack on top of the already existing puzzles. The fighting system was seriously overhauled in this version, allowing for much more creative fighting. If you liked the first one, you MAY like this one. It may be for the older crowd, but hey! We like puzzle games too!

AYAH! What a cunundrum!

I have just beat this game a few days ago (thank god)and must report to you good people here at Amazon that this game was a HEADACHE!

First of all, I would like to state that this game is much darker than the first. So dark that you wonder when you will ever see the light again, and is so dark that you feel queasy inside whenever you play it! The heavy metal riffs during battle sequences were awesome at first, but grew old very soon and is often misleading thanks to the horrible syncing with what's happening in the game (it goes on for an extra 3 minutes after a battle sometimes).

POPWW focuses more on combat than the first. There are about a hundred combos you can perform to erradicate your enemies. Which is good, but you will find yourself sticking with only a handful of them. And, this game rewards "button mashing" quite a bit!

The controls in the game are a real kick in the crotch! Especially when you are navigating through a large corridor filled with traps. Example: You want to wall run up to a ledge, but you wall run off the edge instead, which leads to certain death and a painful reload if you don't have any sands left (one of the problems of the game is that you run out of sand VERY quickly).

Perhaps the best thing about this game are probably those "scantily dressed females" (Ohhhh...Kaileena...please be mine someday). Kaileena gives this game the edge it needs. But, if you just want to admire her vibrant, pixel body, I urge you to just type in "Kaileena" in Google image search.

Overall, this game was a huge (let me reemphasize, HUGE) disappointment. GameSpot says this game is hard, no KIDDING! I am playing T2T right now and it is so far THE BEST POP game out there (simply put, it features the best of both games and MORE). I urge you to avoid buying this game at all costs and just read the Wikipedia plot synopsis if you just want to be kept in tuned with the story. Let me just summarize the "Goods" and "Bads" of the game (listed in no order):

Good:
1. Graphics
2. Combat System
3. Heavy Metal Guitars (it would have been even cooler if they had blended the shredding with Middle Eastern tunes)
4. Shadee and Kaileena

Bad:
1. Controls (I shudder at the thought)
2. Difficulty (It's hard even on the "Easy" difficulty settings)
3. The darker theme
4. The enemies take forever to kill
5. Lack of charm (SoT had lots of it)
6. The cuss words you will utter
7. The # of times you will pound your keyboard (I managed to knock out 5 keys in one pound once) and take the Lord's name in vain
8. The deep desire to uninstall the sucker and chuck the package out the window

I'm not sure about you, but I think the bads do overweight the goods. But, I'll let you be the judge!

Wonderful Experience!!!!

I am very close to calling the ubisoft folk genius, however they are very flawed in areas of this game.
First off i really enjoyed this game yes the controls suck as i often found myself leaping in the wrong direction and screaming all manner of interesting words at the screen.
One thing that really pissed me off was the music. Here they have gone to all the time and effort to create this beautiful magical world only to have death metal guitars crapping all over it.If they did their homework they would find that a lot of middle eastern styles of music are really interesting and heart pounding.I turned off the music after 5 mins problem solved.
Anyway it looks great and it will certainly test you.

Great Game...free form fighting is cool. Good graphichs and videos...some times it really looks bad on screen. A bit longer to play. Compared to earlier version this has heavy metal background music. As per combact or puzzle environment background music changes. Travelling in time i.e. past and present....is good but it duplicates locations, changes your path to follow.....some places makes it difficuilt to figure out where to go.

Don't even try to play using a key board (if you have a pc version), get a usb controller or may be joystick. I have a usb controller so it was easy for me. At times camera angel changes and messes with controls, makes it difficuilt to control.

Overall great game to play.

Fun, fun, fun

I have had more fun playing this game than any other. I am about half way through, and I already feel like I got my money's worth. I like the fighting combos and the acrobatic moves.

The camera sometimes can be a little quirky, but the game has been so satisfying that I can EASILY overlook that. I can honestly say that is the only flaw with this game.

Good but not great

I have been a fan of Prince of Persia since the first game in the 80s. I was very happy with Sands of Time, the re-starting of the franchise. This game, on the other hand, was good only in parts.
The graphics and combat are very good, as other reviewers have pointed out. However, some sections of the game are incredibly frustrating. There are sequences, especially the ones involving the Dahaka, that require great control in movement. Due to the pathetic camera angles and changing controls (the controls depend on the camera angle) it becomes almost impossible to get it right the first few times. The lack of savepoints at certain areas adds to the overall difficulty. Also, as some reviewers pointed out, the areas are repetitive which makes it very hard to figure out where to go next, also since the storyline is not too informative. There is a great deal of potential in the story concept but it seems too chaotic at times, without proper plotting. The twists are easy to guess. On the whole, I say the game is not bad, but could have been much better.

frustrating at times, a little buggy, but rewarding at the end

I enjoyed the first game sands of time. True, it had a fairy tale title and perhaps that is what kept hard core gamers away from this title, but I was surpised at how fun it was. Warrior within is sort of a mixed bag. On one hand I did like the combat system, and some of the cenamatography was great. On the other hand, this version seemed to be a bit too long and frustrating at certain times due to various factors - minor bugs, quest driven camera angles (you can only view a scene from certain angles) instead of free form camera angles, unclear wear to go at times because of bad camera angles or because there are multiple locations to go, and also too many areas of the game where you are chased by the dahaka or the ledge falls under you (this is okay sometimes, but it gets annoying after a while). The story line is confusing, but the ending(s) (both of them) are great if you have the patience and time (and luck because of bugs) to reach them. This is not for the casual gamer. It took me about 50% of the game through before I mastered the move techniques of the game. You will definately want to search for the walk-through on the internet if you want to finish this game and view both endings.
Perhaps they were trying to compensate for the critisms leveled at the sands of time (that it was short and too childesh theme to be marketable). At any rate, these were both great games. I think they just overestimated the sophistication level and attention span of the average gamer, and also did not anticipate the oversaturated console market.

Best game series I ever played

Prince of Persia is in my opinion, the best game ever. I played all of them except The Two Thrones which is waiting patiently on my desk for me to finish WW. I played the POP 3D and I thought: what could be better? I bought Sands of Time and my computer was 2 old for it, so I built a new 2400$ system just for that. It was definitely worth the money... Sands of Time was a step up and I tremendously enjoyed that. When I started POP WW, I thought that really, the game is evolving exponentially. An unbelievable combination of swording skills, great story, fast running and ingenious acrobatics on crazy heavy metal music!!! I don't know what else could beat this. The graphics are great, warming my 7800 GT... During the game, can find treasure chests that can open extra art, like movies, drawings, characters, weapons etc...
I am really impressed by the artistic depth of this game, congratulations Ubi!!!
My wife, otherwise a normal woman, dumps the TV and pulls a chair near my desk and watches me play Warrior Within for hours. Gets very upset if I touch the game when she is not there.
Now I am trying to find the music to put on my ipod, because it really drives me insane.
I just bought a 24 inch LCD and I wish the game could run widescreen, but still looks great.
Conclusions: guys, forget the brainless FPS games (which I admit I play sometimes), and play something special for a change.
