Baroque
Haven't gotten through the whole game yet but I love it enough to write a review. I like the voice acting and the fact that people talk when you approach them and you dont have to press a talk button. People do that in real life, they'll start talking to you if you stand in front of you, like in other games you could stand in front of a person and they'll be like duuuhhhh until you press a button. I just liked that hint of realism.
The first time I played my aunt was sitting with me with the dog and her commentary was funny. She thought the Angelic rifle on the protoganist's back looked like a can opener about to go up his bum.
I don't know about any one else but the beginning confused me. It was one of those games I payed realy close attention to at the beggining and then when I'm finaly walking with the controller I still didn't know what was happening... but this time that was intended. The protoganist has lost his ability to speek and his memory, and the intro leaves you as confused as he is.
Baroque is not a game for people with patience issues. You'll throw the controller through the screen the first time a gliro takes an item from you and hops off. Most annoying monster I've ever encountered and on top of that it hops around on it's tail and makes boink boinks.
The first time I encountered a Moon (a pirahnna-like boney robot looking flying creature) my aunt blurted "hey look a fish!" real good Tina. It was like the time I called a squirrel a beaver. These monsters are weird, they're gross, they're scary. No matter how slow those "fish" move they still get me almost every time I see one floating down the hall towards me out of the shadows. Scary.
There's often a fun character in video games that has that phrase or word he always says. For example, Moogles saying "kupo", Naruto saying "beleive it". The Coffin Man cracks me up. He says "Goddamn" in every sentance almost. Or "goddammit". It's histericle. usually characters that have "frequent word syndrom" won't use the word damn. It's because of the fact that he curses as a signature word that it cracks me up. It's like they were making fun of characters like that. But he's adorable I love that guy. Favorite character right there. I have an acount on IMVU named TheCoffinMan now cause he made me laugh and so deserves it lol.
The introduction video you watch when you first turn on the game is like one I've never seen. It's so cool and unique my mouth was hanging open. I expected a cliche opening, you know how they do, the protoganist walking to music with feathers with absolutely no symbolism as far as I know blowing randomly, and a short fight scene between him and the main boss, and a clip of the chick that he falls in love with. That's what I mean by cliche. Nope. I applaud the makers of this game. Thank you for making a unique intro that actually gets you interested in the game. I remember going oooh who are these characters and what are they like? You Don't wonder that in a lot of intros. You can often just watch the introduction to a show or game and be able to pick out "the hero" "the bad guy" "the guy the fangirls pair the bad guy with" "the wizard" nah. This one has a cool opening, and if you think the game isn't worth your money, the intro is at least worth looking up on Youtube since everythings on youtube, to admire creativity and uniqueness.
Like the title of my review suggests, a lot about this game reminded me of the 3rd video game I ever owned- Chocobo's dungeon 2. Probably because of the dungeon. And the traps. The traps remind me of the chocobo traps.
Also there was something about this game that was reminiscent to evergrace to me. I'm not sure what. And as that guy said in the other review it is a bit like a shooter. A bit. There are a lot of monsters (meta beings) to fight, and you aren't going to just run past them. They will chase you to death, and if you run into a bigger metabeing (there is a huge face thing that takes up the whole darn hallway like they say about yo momma) and you get stuck so you can't run from the mob anymore, you're metafood.
Awesome game, cute coffin man, and scary meta beings. Two thumbs up for being realistic. Haha for the sequel set heroine as one of the things you "inject" and give it a "high" status ailment. (I'm just joking around, don't or else your company will be criticised for that probably.)
Don't be mislead! Great game just get your genre straight.

This game is not an action game. It is a mystery dungeon style dungeon crawl with some weird psychological themes in the realm of persona or shin megami tensei.
Very fun and complicated.
Great Game....Completely Underrated...

I pre-ordered this game and only played it once since writing this review, but I fell in love with it immediately. I eagerly waited for it to come after ordering it and, in the meantime, I looked up every screen shot, video, and review I could find. I wasn't put off by any bad reviews because I knew what the game would be like having played many others like it in the past. Playing the original Rogue throughout my childhood, and loving it even more in adulthood, I knew that Baroque would be exactly what I've been looking for in a Wii game since the console came out. I personally have zero complaints with the controls or graphics and I'm looking forward to enjoying countless hours of game play for years to come. People who own the PS3 or XBOX360 may be put off by the graphics and repetitive nature of the game, but gamers who enjoy Rogue-like RPG's will love it.
Caution: Not for the unintelligent

This game is a lot of fun. It's a great action-RPG, but be warned it is frustrating at times. The point of the game is obviously to advance the story line and also to figure out what exactly the story line is. The frustrating part about the game is that every time you complete a tower and advance the story line you start over at level zero with no items. There are ways to save a limited number of items from your last trip through the tower and you figure that out as you play. Give the game some time and enjoy it. Don't get frustrated and quit after the first time your character gets reset.

The game is being sold as an Role-Playing Game, but it's more of a First Person Shooter. A bad one, at that. The graphics from Heretic, or even Doom 2, are much better than the graphics used in Baroque.
The cut scene introductions are poor. The introduction is basically "Go to the bottom of that tower." The rooms are frighteningly similar, with the same monsters appearing repeatedly.
This might have been acceptable on a portable, like the DS -- but to launch this on the Wii seems unforgivable. Indeed, the graphics on other Atlus DS games is better than in this Wii game. I have many Atlus games -- try out those first. This is a low point for Atlus.
