Great game!

This game is a lot of fun, aside from the fact the cursor is a bit tricky in the beginning. (it turns into this big symbol that is not as easy to move as I was used to with other games)

Another Success for Stardock

I found this game a fun way to take a stab at polictics and would also see it's application as an educational tool for teachers to show their kids some of the political campaigning process.
I enjoyed the charactectures of the canidates and liked the quick playtime of the game. It makes it possible to run through a game in about an hour, which is great for someone who does not want to spend hours on it. But it strings several campaigns together to provide for longer content

I had no compatibilty issues and I run 3 different Frankenstien machines and several name brand boxes from multiple vendors(Dell, Gateway, HP).
I did work with their tech support on a small issue and found them most helpful, especially the one who notes herself as 'CariElf'.

This is the second extermely enjoyable game I have played from the design house 'Stardoc', the other title was Galatic civilizations which just blows away anything I have seen.

Gets old quick. Very quick

The game starts out as a very quick, lively game involving campaigning to become president. While put out in time for the 2004 Election season, you can choose among a cadre of many different politicians, from modern senators, to ex-presidents, to "legends" such as George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, etc.

The routine is a very fun, turn-based thing in which you must travel across the country, build campaign headquarters, give speeches, pay for ads, hire political operatives (such as smear merchant to lower your candidates approval in the state, or even intimidators who raise your approval by 5% per turn) or political capital to gain the support of organizations such as the NRA, NAACP, Women's groups, environmental groups, etc, and fundraisers.

However, as soon as election night comes around and you either win or lose, that's pretty much the end of the game. There's no replay value in the game, as everything goes exactly the same way and can be fully accomplished within an hour

This game is a must buy for people who like computer games and politics. You cant beat the price iether. There isn't much that is more rewarding than running a complete smear campaign and running someone such as jimmy carters "good name" into the ground. My favorite method of winning is to say the opponent supports ruining the environment in alaska by drilling for oil and saying the opponent is against public education, freedom of speech, and a coward for being against the war in Iraq and Afganistan. The artwork is very funny and all the written updates to show whare you are in the campaingne time allotement are halarius. The ones to note include the drunken party member saying you can kiss my republican butt and the news add saying that you have busted out of the opening gates like a hungry cougar. The most rewarding part of the game is after a long hard fought campaigne winning every state in the union except maine and road island. This is definatly worth your time.

Simplistic, therefore boring

This game held my interest for about a half hour before it became clear that it was just a repetitive low quality sim game. I played it thru three elections looking for some kind of variety in the game play and I was sorely disappointed.

It's not particularly smart, either. It seems to have been written by someone with only a passing understanding of politics and the nuances that comprises it. To compound that, it seems to have an extreme Republican bias. There's no complexity of issues. You go to give a speech on the environment, you're choices are that you are either for or against it or your opponent is either for or against it. That's true for every aspect of the campaign. Media interactions (take-offs of real opinion shows) are written in a way to make the right answer easy to spot. It's embarrasingly easy to win an election, at least in the early stages, and I just wasn't compelled to continue playing past that point.

I'd give this game a pass. In fact, I'm a little irritated that I spent money on it myself.

Very biased game programing. If you're a Democrat you will love it; if you're a Republican you'll hate it.

Doesn't work and support is terrible

I bought this game only to find out that it apparently doesn't work with the ATI Radeon 320M which is supposedly one of the supported video cards. I found the problem listed a couple of times on the message board. To make matters worse when I contacted them about the problem they acted like they knew nothing about it. So I described the problem and they guided me through the same steps that the guided the other posters through which didn't work for them either. They then tried to convince me that it was a problem with my computer. The same tactic they tried with the others. When I explained my computer was 1 month old and that there were others they gave the same story to they told me they weren't getting enough info. Like it was my fault. Hello they are the tech support people. Either tech support isn't talking to each other to know that this is a repeated problem or they think that the blame the consumer approach is effective. Either way poor customer service, but hey they got you you paid your $20 and you can't take opened software back.

And I only have the demo!!

I saw this game on TV and I thought it looked really cool. But it wasn't until a friends told me about that I started checking it out. Now my friend here is not a politic. I think he thinks both canidates our republican. And yet he can beat the game with a 35 to 70% victory on the HARDEST LEVEL! And he dosn't even know who he
is playing either!
When I went over to his house to look at it, I must admit I thought it looked like crap. Thats is until I actually started to play it. I WAS SO ADDICTED IT WAS CRAZY!!! I ended up staying the night so we could play it. And the multiplayer is GREAT! He managed to kill atleast 4 people online and I got atleast one :)
Why this game isn't catching on is because people judge it by it's cartoony looks. They also think you have to be and expert at politics to be good. It is not true anyone can play it, anyone! Once you get into it the graphics our pretty entertaing to. So I went home and downloaded the demo off the internet. It is a disgrace to the game!
Please dont judge it by the demo! It is horrible and only about 5% of what the game really has to offer. I am defidently going to buy the full version! Go and buy it you wont be sorry!

zero compatibility!

watch out for this game. it is only compatible with a thin minority of computers (as far as I have experienced). It only works on certain brands of video cards. So even if you have a great video card, if its not on their list, the thing won't even start. As far as programming goes, that is just terrible. I don't know what they were thinking. So be warned- read the sys req list CAREFULLY and be sure you have one of their listed video cards. otherwise you will be disappointed.

Can you say monotony?

I purchased this game because of my growing interest in the upcoming presidential election. While the game is obviously different than most PC strategy games, the overall gameplay is sub-par. After playing the game three or four times, I started getting bored with it. My boredom is the result of the fact that there is really only one mode of play. The main menu gives you the option of choosing a game mode, but they're all the same! There are clearly some areas that could be improved upon. For instance, I think that the game would be much better if you were allowed to participate in a presidential debate against your opponent. Overall: not a great game, but what can you expect from a game with a $20 price tag?
