THIS is a fantastic game!!!

About seven or eight years ago, Capcom decided to release the sequel to the first Breath of Fire game. I had thoroughly enjoyed the first one, and decided to plunk down my hard earned dollars for the second one.
Upon first glance, I was sorely disappointed. The sound was weak, at BEST, the music was horrible, the graphics showed no improvement, and the whole game seemed way too hard (I died pretty often in the beginning just from the random encounters!).
However, I stayed the course, and wow, what a game! The plot begins years after the first BOF, with our character and his friend getting crushed in a battle against a surprise assailant. When the pair comes around, they find that the world around them has changed, and no one in their hometown has any recollection of the two. So, our happy pair embarks on a mission to see exactly what has occured here. I will say no more, but the story is great, and deepens the saga started in BOF.
You would be sorry NOT to buy this game, believe me...

a GREAT storyline..

I don't know about you, but storyline and gameplay is the most important aspect of the game to me. Good music and graphics are a plus but it doesn't make or break a game.

I played the Super Nintendo version and the storyline is amazing. Keep in mind this is a pretty old game and it's not like the Final Fantasy games you might have played. It's a little slow and pretty difficult but when you beat the game, you will not feel disappointed.

There are 3 possible endings depending on how you play the game. There's also a dozen characters to choose from and lots of secrets. In your Township, you can combine your characters with elemental shamans to give them new skills and abilities as well as make recipes and rest up.

Let's just say if you liked the old Final Fantasy games on SNES, you will LOVE this game. Almost the exact same thing.

I bought Breath of Fire 1 and I admit, it was one of the best experiences ever. It was fresh and innovative. The graphics could have been better, but it was still an epic adventure you can't miss. But little did I know, the second installment, I guessed would be the best game ever but I was mistaken, the graphics are worse and are reinforced by a terrible storyline not even relevant to the first. In fact the cinematics are poor and the battle sequences have done nothing but become more blurry and the special effects have dropped. What's happening? Never buy this game. honestly!

Game of bygone days

this is truely a game of a lesser era. the game starts out in your home town, and you are a little kid, and theres this eye that that seems to be watching you and you go around looking for your little sister and thats all cool but after that its all kind of boring, you go around and kill a buch of corney looking mosters and try to get your dog friend out of jail, a series of sub missions ensue and other people join up with you etc. its all written like a B movie. the monster graphic are ok, but the land background and main characters animations and graphics are lame. I would have to say that this might have cut it if this was 1987 but tody its not worth the [money].

It has no gameplay at all. The graphics are horrible. The music is abhorrent. Spend your money on something better than this.

Breath of Fire II is a spectacular example of what a good RPG should be. Rivaling Golden Sun for best RPG on the Game Boy Advance, I would highly reccomend this for any and all RPG fans. Breath of Fire II contains a great storyline, excellent battle system, and intriguing characters. An epic storyline and 20+ hour quest make this a great game to buy. Trust me: You won't regret adding this game to your GBA library.

A Disappointing sequel

the sequel to one of the best rpg games with the best story line is a total and complete flop. breath of fire 2 does not follow anything even remotly like a story and is not in any way realated to the first game.the game should have had some thing to do with defeating Tyr after she comes back at the end of Breath of Fire 1. the fighting is different and when i tried to select a enemy to fight out of 3 enemies, i ended up shooting myself. what is probably the worst part about fighting is when you meet a new enemy. you can't see how much health they have so it is frustarating not knowing how long until you kill them. the graphics are horrible and are worse than any game i have ever played. the hunting in this game is extremly disipointing and you spend the time waiting for a deer or boar to come out of the grass. if you are looking for a good RPG, play Breath of Fire 1 or Golden Sun
