I reciently purchased baseball advanced and was extremly plesantly surprised. The game was far more realistic than I ever imagined. Stealing bases, injuries, stats etc. I enjoy checking out the stats as much as playing the game. I was disappointed by the manual as it does not go into great detail and I had to discover how to adjust the defence (shallow or deep), I have yet to figure out the pickoff.
I travel and this game is a wonderful companion in the plane. All in all a BLAST! I am hoping that there will be a new version with updated stats in the not to distant future.
If anybody knows where to get this info...
One of the best ever baseball games for any system

I bought this game in July of 2007 on ebay. I wanted to write a review then, but have waited a year because it has taken me this long to complete a 162 game season. I finished 123 Wins and 39 Losses as the New York Yankees. I made it to the Division Series and beat Cleveland in five games and currently as I write, have finished three games in the AL Championship Series vs. Oakland, leading 2 games to 1. So I believe I have enough playing experience to comment on this game. This game is excellent, except for a few minor issues and they are as follows.
1. The statistics are not as detailed as some of the DVD-ROM based baseball games available to play on the Playstation or X-box (i.e. no Sac flies stats, MLB team batting averages, nor can I see the stats of the opposite league when in season mode).
2. It is difficult to make errors or injuries
3. No Home Run Derby or batting practice modes
4. Once game is in session I cannot see the name of the pitcher and his ERA.
5. Only 4 MLB parks
6. In a 162 game season I only managed to hit 1 Ground Rule Double. Thats not real baseball.
7. Game lacks fielding strategies (shift fielders,etc..)
Besides these few gripes this game is excellent. Its got awesome graphics, and game play. Batting stances of players are included, and in season mode the game keeps track of bating averages, HR's, RBI's, hits, etc..
For anyone still using a GBA and looking for a awesome game I strongly recommend this game. Don't bother with All-Star baseball or any other GBA game. Don't waste your money, buy this one. Believe me this one is the best of the best.
UPDATE 6/16/08
I finished the season by beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 in the World Series coming from a 3 games to 1 defecit. The score for the final game in the series was 4-1. I beat Cleveland 3-2, Oakland 4-2, and Arizona 4-3.
I wish the game would keep track of post season stats, as I was at a stump on the batting averages and so forth during the post season. Bernie Williams ended up with the AL MVP, however the game did not show no other awards, which is not reality to the way MLB Baseball is played. But overall besides its gripes a very fun and addicting game!

Best GBA baseball game on the market

This is without a doubt the best GBA baseball game on the market. It's challenging, but fun with great graphics and some pretty cool features, including score updates from around the league, player injuries and special messages when you hit milestones (I got a congrats when my Bosox scored a season-high 30 hits in a game). The only drawbacks are the limited ballpark choices (there are only four) and the fact that the rosters aren't updated to reflect the current season. But those are very minor.
Pick this one up!

Overall this is a fun game worth the ... pricetag. My only complaint deals with the hitting aspect, and the fact that the instruction manual does a poor job explaining how to hit successfully.
On the plus side, the graphics are really good and showcase the power of the GBA. Action on the field is, for the most part, easy to follow. This has been a flawed area in many a baseball game; the ball is hit, and by the time you figure out where, the batter has gotten a triple off you.
By the way...there are only 4 parks (wrigley is one of them) and yes, you can steal and you can be hit by a pitch.
Better than any PC game

This game is excellent!!! Hitting is very easy in rookie mode. The higher the level, the faster the pitches. Don't try to bunt in your first game. Manual fielding is quite hard until you read the book. The player condition ratings are really cool. Red(best) to purple(worst). The gameplay is very smooth. I have four other games, and this is my favorite.
solid game--lots of fun

I wanted a baseball game that was a good mix of arcade action as well as true to life gameplay. Baseball Advance is exactly that. Very easy to pick up and get into but also realistic. If you want a solid baseball game that has good graphics and action then pick this one up.
A solid baseball game.

I love it for lots of reason. You get to control your complete team. Controlling outfield is very unique and once you get the hang of it, its not hard at all. You can almost do everything you want to do: hitting the batter, stealing, getting picked off... Graphics are nice. Only complain one might find is, it is hard. Well, it's baseball, not sonic or mario (eventhough they are hard sometimes) You have take your time and play each game everyday or 20 games a day. UP 2 U.

I have all 3 baseball games for the gameboy advance, and was hoping for more from All Star Baseball. Like High Heat, there is only 1 true stadium; all the others are just background pictures. That's one of the cool things about Baseball Advance, even though there are only 4 stadiums, they're the best ones. 2 classic (Fenway, Wrigley) and 2 new (Safeco and Pac Bell). Even with last year rosters, baseball advance has the best gameplay. High Heat 2003 for the computer is the best bar none, but for the gameboy advance not quite.
