I've only played it for two days, but it has been bug free and actually really fun. I happy with the sims being able to use the new stuff almost everyday. I pre-ordered the thing but have yet to get the code for the poster......

For Sims Regulars, not for Newcomers

This expansion brings a few new features to the game. The first of these is lifetime aspiration points, which you gain for having consistently high aspiration levels as well as meeting certain lifetime goals. These points can then be spent on bonuses which make life easier, such as slowing mood decay and making it easier to meet high scoring aspiration goals. The second is a host of new occupations, badges you can earn, and ways to gain skill points. These have to do with the hobbies you can pick. Performing everyday activities gives you hobby points, and those open new opportunities for membership to secret lots, subscribing to magazines, and in some instances, new skills. Your Sims could choose to take up dance, arts and crafts (including sewing), fitness, nature, cuisine (allowing you to make appetizers), or several other hobbies. The game also comes with a bunch of new outfits, wallpapers and flooring, and objects, as per usual. A few are new exercise outfits. A last minor bonus is that your Sims can play The Sims 3 on the computer or video game system, which allows you a tiny preview of the game if you zoom in closely enough.

Pros:
- The hobbies are fun and give you a new way to gain skill points.
- The bonuses that you can purchase with lifetime aspiration points are useful, and don't make your Sims superhuman as some Internet reviews have suggested.

Cons:
- The new lifetime aspiration points counter makes the interface look scrunched-up.
- It would be a bit more interesting if the secret lot memberships were a challenge to receive instead of being handouts when you get enough points.
- Some of the hobbies feel unfinished since not all of them give you new skills.
- If you put in a dance bar, autonomous Sims tend to gravitate toward it, making it tricky to interact with visiting Sims. Hopefully a future patch will balance this a little better.

Overall, I would not consider this a must-have expansion. The bottom line is, if you have all the expansion packs, it's a good addition to round out the series, but if you are trying to decide between this and some others, go with Open for Business, Seasons, Bon Voyage, or University.

Sims 2 Free time: A nice final touch

For those wishing to buy Sims 2 Free time, then I'll say this: Get this addition to this Sims World mostly if you're already a big fan. If you're still new to the game, then purchase the previous adds like Open For Business or University. Free Time brings to the Sims more distraction and the characters has a lot new range of actions. At the same time, those new hobbies aren't exactly important to the game itself. It is exactly what it is, an add-on.

A thing that I found interesting, however, is that toddlers now have more possibilities. True, not a lot more, but still.

I've enjoyed Freetime for Sims2. It's nice to actually have activities and hobbies for all ages to enjoy and a secret neighborhood full of hobby lots. There are activities and hobbies for everyone - sports, sewing, pottery, car repair, ballet, violin, family games, even fun things for toddlers.

I like the new beach lots with crashing waves for my beach houses - Sims can dig for shells, build sand castles or go for a swim.

It's lots of fun for Sims2 fans.

I am a true Sims lover! I have all of the expansion packs, and I am always dying to hurry up and buy the newest one! The Freetime is fun! I love that your Sim can now restore a car, Play the violin, bug hunt, birdwatch and go jogging! It really lets you be more creative in designing your sims world! I would highly reccomend this expansion pack! Heck get them all! It is a nice way to relax and unwind after a long day!

The Sims 2: FreeTime - Rocks!!!

It's cute seeing their new hobby aspirations to fufill --
Currently my sim couple have the "NATURE" and "MUSIC AND DANCE" aspiration so in example I spend my time fuffilling their aspiration for Nature: Hunting bugs, Birdwatching, Gardening, Interacting with Pets, and pretty much anything outdoors. I also love that they can use their computers now to "blog about" or "browse the web" for their aspiration.

As for my "MUSIC AND DANCE" sim - you can usually find him at the ballet bar, playing the many musical instruments throught sims previous expansions and freetime (guitar, drums, violin, piano, karaoke, dance with someone)

Sims Free Time is really cute, lots of new places to visit, and more life-like activities for them to get into literature, arts and crafts, sports, culinary.

It's been a great expansion, kudos to EA GAMES --- the only con -- i noticed my game crashes alot for the "GAMING ASPIRATION" -- or when they visit the gaming hobby lot. Wierd....

Otherwise, I say if you didnt get this expansion, don't sleep on it.

This expansion is great. I love that you can fix up a car with another sim. That you can build up your hobbies and get a membership card for your hobbies, and visit those places. That you can enter contests. There are alot of thngs that will keep you busy with this addition. I FULLY recommand buying this product and I cannot wait for The Sims 3 to come out soon.

Now the Sims can become even more realistic by having hobbies! Each Sim has a pre-picked hobby they enjoy. Some hobbies include: music and dance, sports, arts and crafts, nature, science, cusisine and tinkering. Now you can build trainboards (caution can kill Sims!), restore cars, hunt bugs, make pottery, you can now have secondary aspirations, and discover secret lots. Alot of fun, makes your Sims more unique! Pretty fun

I got this game as a gift for my girlfriend who is obsessed with the whole Sims series. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and instead of hinting at a night out or a romantic dinner, her response was simple: "...I want Sims freetime". Well whatever keeps the old lady happy. She enjoys the game very much and recommends it to others.
