Lost video game is not the most exciting game to play and would only recommend to fans of lost.

The game play is pretty simple. Talk to people from the tv show. take pictures to open up flashbacks of your character and run from the smoke.

I am only like 3 episodes into the game thus far.

I am enjoying it but play it in short portions. The puzzles with the electical wiring can be very annoying to be honest but once you figure it out its a breeze.

In the end this is definitely a rent not worth the 60 buck price tag. Very little replay value.

You will probably see this in the sales bins at gamestop in a few months for 20 bucks :P

a rental for a LOST superfan, IF SHE/SHE must......

Not a lot of pros for this game. If you're a fan of LOST and the old computer adventure games where you just run around, look at things, and talk to NPC's then this game is probably for you. Aside from the Walking/Looking/Talking aspect there isn't too much left. A half a dozen variations on the same puzzle throughout as well as a picture taking mission each episode. RENT THIS GAME.....its incredibly short. I'd never played Via Domus before and never at any point did i cheat my way though with gamefaqs (they're not needed) and still i cleared the game right around three and a half hours. so if you don't mind spending the money on such a short rental, then i would suggest you do so. You'll get a good 900-1000 achievement points out of it.

Lost the series video game.

The LOST: Via Domus game is somewhat fun to play but way to short. I wish it would have more action sequences. I would say it is a mediocre adventure game. I only bought it because I am a huge fan of LOST. Recommended for hardcore LOST fans only. Casual fans would be better off renting this game.

Great for Fans!

This game was pretty good. I enjoyed the story, which was true to the Lost universe and the ending too. Graphically, the recreation of the areas in Lost was pretty spot on. Some of the characters from the show didn't look exactly like themselves and the voices weren't perfect either. But I felt like I was in Lost and enjoyed it very much. It wasn't too hard to get those 1000 points in gamerscore achievements either. So if you're looking for some easy points, pick this up.

On the down side, the game is pretty short. Most likely it will last 4-6 hours for the average gamer. Also, if you aren't a fan of the show, most likely you will not enjoy this game. References to specific things that happened on the show will probably just confuse you.

Overall, I was enjoyed playing the game.

Very good, if.....

Let me preface this review by saying this....if you're a GIGANTIC Lost "fan", and you're intimate with every nuance, every hint, and every detail of every season of the television show, then you'll likely be disappointed by the depth of this game. This game sticks pretty closely to the Season 1 storyline, revealing the core survivors, the hatch, Desmond, The Others, The Black Pearl, The Smoke, The Numbers, etc. Not to mention the whole "Running Through The Jungle" theme that seems to permeate the entire show.

That said, if you're one who, like me, enjoyed the first season, then sort of got "lost" with the busyness of your real life and haven't been able to keep up with television (I'm slowly catching up through the available DVDs), then you'll find this game a great continuation of your ability to keep yourself immersed in the "Lost" mythos.

The voices used in the game for the most part sound, to me, like the actual actors used in the TV show. If they're not, they're pretty good impersonations. Kate in the game sounds pretty much exactly like Kate on TV. Hurley in the game sounds pretty much exactly like Hurley on TV. The worst seem to be Sawyer, Locke, and Sayid, which make me wonder if they're "substitute" voices, or if it's just poor writing.

Whether it is poor writing of dialogue, or poor acting, many of the canned lines in the game come off sounding like middle school drama class.

The game appears to be based on Ubisoft's "FarCry" software engine. The graphics are pretty incredible for a console game. The mechanics are easy to learn, and the plot is easy to follow. I would recommend one of the Internet's "walkthrough" sites as a reference source, as the puzzles (and many of the game's XBox Achievements) can be difficult to figure out.

You start out the game like most of the other core survivors, awakening in the jungle with nothing to go on. It is interesting to try to discover who you (as the character in the game) are and why you are there. Well worth the effort. Even my six-year-old daughter loved it when I finally found out what "my" name was!

This game is well worth renting from a place like GameFly, and is well worth playing if you get hold of one for less than the retail price. It is not, however, worth the $35 to $50 you see it selling for new. Rent it and give it a try.

Great graphics, so-so gameplay

I'm an action/adventure gamer; these are my favorite games. After reading about this game I decided not to buy it, but rather to rent it. It's actually the first game I ever rented. But anyway...I enjoyed it. Sure, I'm a big LOST fan which is probably why I liked it more than other people. The graphics I thought were terrific. Seriously the jungle was crazy detailed and good, and the characters were really good too. Too bad the gameplay wasn't as good as how good the game looks though. You hit invisible boundaries a LOT. All you can do is walk, run a little, and jump much towards the end of the game. The missions are just tricky enough and easy enough. It's a very short game, I probably spend 12 hours or so and I did everything possible believe me. I explored and turned over every leaf, so to speak. It was an easy 1000 achievement points. It could have been a awesome killer game, but it isn't...Still, it's worth playing, especially if you love the TV show. Could have used more characters too, and more difficult missions. But it stuck pretty close to the show, and I liked being my character. I give it 4 out of 5 only because it's so short.

I feel ripped off lol!

I have loved the show Lost since it first aired and was eagerly awaiting playing this game. If youre not a fan of the show, don't bother playing this because you'll just be lost (excuse the pun) as to the storyline. However unlike some other reviewers I found it an enjoyable game to play with the exception of the silly fuse puzzles. Also the "other" off in the distance taking shots at you as you walked through the jungle seemed rather out of the normal storyline. I know gunfire is fairly common in the show but getting fired upon walking to and from the hatch was kind of ridiculous, good thing the guy is a lousy shot.

The mindless collecting of water bottles, coconuts, cans of beer and various other tradable items is mostly a waste of time as you'll only need to trade a few times throughout the game, usually for torches or lanterns so you can see to explore the various dark caves and passageways. Even later in the game after you trade for a gun there are a number of ammo clips you can pick up but you only fire three shots in the entire game. You'll feel pretty foolish picking up all that junk when you finish the game and realize you didn't need most of it.

The graphics are top notch, you'll recognize all your favorite cast member right off and to disagree with previous reviewers I thought the voice impersonations were pretty darn close. The ending was a total surprise, and worth playing just to see that. It's a true to form "Lost" season ending!

That being said as mentioned by other reviewers I feel a little ripped off at paying about 30 bucks for a game that can be finished in 8 or 10 hours, and once finished you'll likely have no desire or motivation to ever play again. If youre looking to add an easy 1000 points to your gamer score this game will do that for you, most all the achievements are fairly simple to get even the hidden ones, however there is one that takes a bit of clever thinking to achieve and another one takes pure blind luck to find. Overall I recommend renting this one for the weekend, once you've played it you'll thank me for that tip.

it didn't COMPLETELY suck...

This game does the show no justice at all. Sure, its just as insanely confusing as the show, and the graphics were great (characters looked good, voices matched up well, smoke monster was freaky) but when you weren't solving a "fuse" puzzle or running from the smoke monster, the game was pretty much beat for you- all you had to do was run around and the answers fell into your lap. Oh, and there is NO satisfaction of "Hey I beat a game!" when you win because it ends..well... I guess exactly as I should think it would...CONFUSING.
Don't let me stop you from playing this game, because it was pretty cool for hardcore LOST fans, but...well... Don't buy it full price! I bought it used for $9.99 and you don't know how happy I am for that!

Barely a rental...

I bought this game when Amazon had a special price of $18 for this game. I am a big Lost fan and kinda enjoyed the 6 hour experience that was "Via Domus".
I was given advice to NOT buy this game, but lucked out on the price, and decided to go ahead and buy it. When I traded it in, I got the value I paid for it... so I am not too disappointed with the price.
If you are not a Lost person, this is not worthy of your time.
