Amazing.

This is my favorite game ever. In my opinion the best Soccer game ever. However, this game is not for everyone. Let explain. In Japan this game is a smash hit, the arcade game to be in the top ten for the whole year of 99! In 2000 its been in the top three! It got rave reviews when it was ported, 9,8,8,9 and all 9s from the Japanese DC magazine. Furthermore, it outsold Sony's much hyped RPG, Legend of Dragoon, in its first week of release by 2,000. Something like 175,000 to 173,000. However, in the US those sites who imported it hated it, giving it a 5.6,6.5 and a C-. This game is not very popular amongst American gamers who have grown too acustomed to Fifa. The game is very controlled. You can't change players, and you have three buttons, shoot, short pass and long pass. And 2 slide tackles. I love the game. If these things don't seem appealing... rent it first. Play it for a few hours straight even if you don't like it at first, it will grow on you. Watch.

Virtua Striker not for the complex player

If you love the FIFA series, this is definently not the game for you. With only three action buttons, the game leaves little room for any hope of trick moves, amazing headers, bicycle kicks, or jukes. I just have one question, is it feasible for EA Sports to introduce FIFA to the Dreamcast?

This is really solid game even for the most serious gamer

On the contrary of common misconception, this really is one of the best soccer games on the market at this point. Some people are just mad because the players don't have instantaneous response to the beckon of their mashing of a particulatr button. I hate to break to all of you button mashers, but that's not real life. Basically, for all of you that understand the concepts of physics and know that there's going to be a delay in response of movement, you will really love this game as i do. I won't lie to you though. The game is quite a challenge at first. If you can tough out the first couple of outings, you 'll begin to see it's finer points and start to enjoy the game.

Disappointment...game for the novice only!

Yesterday I received my copy of Virtua Striker 2...what a great disappointment it was. It lacks many aspects of an advanced game...the best feature are the graphics. You can't use the Analog Thumb Pad, you can't switch camera angles, there is no turbo button, there is only one type of tackle (standing or sliding depending on distance to player with ball), you can't switch players (crucial on foul kicks and throw-ins). FIFA might be an easy game to play agains the computer, but not against another player (and it allows for all that Virtua Striker 2 lacks). Personally, I wanted to return the game right after the first "vs Match" for the lack of challenge...unfortunately, I had already opened it. This is one for the bottom of the archives, for those who are more advanced...would be a great game for the novice who has never played a soccer game (especially a video game).

Major league dissapointment!

The video game is worse than expected. If we purchase this product thinking of a nice playing an easy to control game, and that should be possible because Dreamcast is the current more powerful console in the market, we will be really dissapointed. It is quite hard to control the own players, and, that implies no fun at all. Graphics can be awesome, but if we want to see realistic movements and not be able to play at all, let's turn on the T.V. and watch a soccer match. This Virtua Striker version is really bad, and I agree with the guy who said that if you have money that you do not know what to do with, give it to carity instead of buying this game. Please avoid this garbage at all cost!

This is a geat game of soccer, don't take care about the bad comments, this game has very good graphics, you can made real fints , great and differents goals not like FIFA games that only are like 10 differents form to make a goal. try it and you will see it's excellent

best graphics out there but gameplay falls short

I'm a true soccer fan and have played all the FIFA series. the graphics and the realism of players'movements in VS are just the best out there. The best are the replays that I saved, just look so real with multiple camera angles. And fifa can't compare with VS in these aspects. But the gameplay and control can't compare with FIFA as in previous comments although I got more and more into it after a while. I just bought Striker pro 2000 and returned it because of bad graphics although better gameplay and control. this one looks more like 2D and the players have no skill moves just spin 0-360 degrees to turn. I think the best soccer game would be one with VS graphics and FIFA control. Overall I still like VS than any soccer game out there right now because the realism rules and I got better control skills when keeping playing. And the challenge really makes you feel you're in a real soccer game when there are missing shots and passes and the opponents are tough.

This is not just the worst soccer game -- its the worst game I've ever played! For all of the reviewers that gave it 4-5 stars and said that the bad reviewers don't understand real soccer, I have the following comments:

1. In real soccer, one can see the other players on the pitch. In Virtua Soccer, the rest of the pitch is represented by a rectangular box with difficult-to-see red and blue dots that represent your and the opponents players. This makes it impossible to know who you are passing to, as anything 5 or more feet in front of you is off-screen.

2. I don't know about your personal soccer playing experience, but when I've played and passed the ball to a teammate, they at least made some effort to go after the ball. In this game, there is a very good chance that the player will just stand there until the other team takes over.

3. Most big-league players can dribble or control the ball for more than 2 seconds. In this game, you better (blindly) pass in 2 seconds or you're gonna lose the ball. I tried for 2 hours to just dribble (not even forward -- just anywhere) -- not even to score -- just to see if I could learn how to maintain control. Impossible!

4. Real soccer never gave me vertigo.

My recommendation: find the developers of this game and slap them in the face.

Two other comments about the rating:

1. Why can't I give it 0 stars? Others were right -- 1 star is too much credit. If you absolutely have to give it something, how about 1 Rotten Fish?

2.

Let's see who can get it right.

Well, I believe this is the best soccer game ever! Why? For FIFA or all the soccer games so far, you can always control whether to win or lose. That means whenever you are expert, you win. Try this game buddy! You'll know why people say that in a real soccer game, no one can tell who's gonna win! What I like about this game is that you are the one who's creating the move of the team. And! You can never be the one who can always win! A beginner can beat you even though you are an expert! This is a soccer game from the real soccer field! You'll know what I am talking about when you get to play. Besides, playing this game with friend gave you tones of fun! 3 buttons make the controlling simple, BUT gave poeple a lot of creativities when they play. Try it(rent it), you'll love it! You'll experience the excitement of soccer!

It's got Problems

This game has ups and downs. i'll start with the ups, it has excellent graphics and the movements of the players and ball is very realistic. From afar this looks like it is better than Fifa 99. The crowds are great the feeling of scoring a goal is great. it is not easy though. the down side of it is that you cannot control anything. it has about a 2 second delay. and it feels more like the computer is controlling than you are. defense you can sit back and do nothing because that is how much control you have. i do not recommend this game to anyone no matter how good it looks.
