Perfect Game for a Perfect Price

My very first impression when I got the game was that it might be another one of those that I pick up, play, and get bored after three minutes.
But it is exactly the opposite the game is highly addictive and FUN- all around. I couldn't stop playing it and the songs that the Patapons sing get stuck in your head. My cousin heard it only once and then the next thing you know he's saying PON PON PATA PON. It's also a game that isn't as easy as it looks. The simple graphics and concepts can be deceiving but it actually takes a lot fo smarts to beat it!
You won't be disappointed if you get the game and I recommend it. The game controls are simple, the concept is easy to get, and the graphics and wonderful to look at. It is the Perfect Game for a Perfect Price!

Pon, Pon, Pata, Pon!!

Patapon is a great game overall-- I love the concept of controlling your army through drumming, an new idea different from just following beats on DDR/Guitar Hero. I was a little apprehensive at first, thinking that it might be boring. Plus, I'm not even that great with rhythm games in general. But for 20 bucks, Patapon came to be a gem and won't break your bank.

A few points...
- Clean, crisp, beautiful graphics (even while 2-D)
- Great beats... had me humming to myself
- Appeals to a variety of genres (RPG, strategy, rhythm, etc.)
- New, fresh idea of a game
- You'll need some patience! The drumming are pretty much going to be the same beats with different buttons and that can get repetitive fast, so you'll need to be able to stand that. Definitely a game that requires some concentration!
- Nice minigames to mix it up a bit

Definitely a game to add to your collection!

Pretty fun

After reading reviews and seeing videos i was kind of worried that i would hate the game but since it got such great reviews I decided to try it. It is pretty fun and you can take little missions in short amounts of time. I just wish the lil patapons would run faster.

There is strategy to this game because what troops you bring effect if you are going to beat the mission or not.

over all i am satisfied and feel its worth the money you should take a look at some youtube video to see if this game is for you. Its like DDR for your fingers because you keep a rhythm to make them attack or defend or walk..... its not really button mashing and not very fast paced.... patients is required

Patapon rocks!

Over the years, I have played both strategy games and rhythm games. In Patapon, I get to play both genres in one and strangely enough it works!

You are the mighty god of rhythm to a struggling band of Patapon warriors who were displaced from their homeland by the evil Zigoton. You lead the Patapons in the battle to reclaim their territory by pressing the PSP buttons in a rhythmical pattern that simulates drum beats. Different drum cadences inspire the Patapon to advance, fight, defend or retreat.

Each time your Patapons accomplish a mission they earn rewards such as weapons, armor and various raw materials that can be used to create upgraded Patapons with stronger attributes. You can even learn powerful Juju rhythms that will perform miracles such as calling up rain or windstorms that aid you in battle.

My only quibble with the game is that the tutorials are very skimpy. You can get some advice from the tribal priestess, Meden, but like most oracles her hints are somewhat cryptic, leaving you on your own to puzzle out what to do, especially for things like how to dismiss your old Patapons in order to swap in their upgraded counterparts. I suppose you could always read the game manual but honestly, who ever takes the time to do that, really?

Patapon is very enjoyable and worth playing. I definitely recommend it but be forewarned the drumbeat rhythms are somewhat addictive. After a long session, it will take a while to clear the Pata Pata Pata PON and Don Dodon Dodon out of your head.

Crazy Fun!

What a great game! Repeat the beats to defeat your enemies! Be careful though, because it's super addictive. You also may want to consider headphones to spare those around you from the craziness. One of my favorite PSP games!

PSP Must have

I bought this after reading reviews at gamespot. It is a wonderful game. Just keep one thing in mind you cant play the game without volume. So if you want a game to play during travel, you better gave a great pair of headphones :)

This game was quite fun for about a week. That's how long it takes to go through the game to the end. The story itself isn't all that interesting. The game play however is very innovative. It's a real-time beat based strategy game. You need to drum out your commands to the patapons as you attack, defend, run away, or psychic yourself up for an attack. So, timing is very important. It's very easy to learn and can get into it pretty easily. However, the whole game is like a tutorial in other games. As you go through the different stages, different patapons are available to you and other resources.

However, the usefulness of the different patapons are in question and why there's no further game play, such as one-on-one matches. In short, this game is good for about a week and then things just get repetitive. No discovery of new levels, units or spells.

One thing I can say is that they spent more time on the graphics, which is quite good. The artistic aspects of this game are outstanding. The music is slightly different for each of the stages and the background for each of the stages are very tastefully done.

Buy this game if you like to play a new type of game and enjoy the little eyes fighting big monsters. Seems like this was geared towards girls as you can find japanese TV adverts on youtube.

Also, checkout the walk throughs through google search.

Definitely different ;-)

This game is so wierd it's actually cute - loads of fun! It's kind of a "Simon" sort of thing at the beginning - you match the rythm the game sets for you - the square border around the screen will flash the beat and you copy it, then as you progress it gets more involved and harder. I love the graphics and colors in the scenery too, but MAN does the "PATA-PATA-PATA-PON!" chant get hopelessly stuck in your head!! LOL Addictive little game, really nice for $20.

Interesting, unique and fun.

I really enjoy this game its simple and has a musical toon that will stick with you long after you finish the game, but thats a good thing. The point of the game is to hit buttons with the beat to command your native army to move or attack. Its simple, fun and u can play for short bursts of 10min which I like a lot. Even my sisters son thats 11 years old liked the game even though its a little cartoony for his taste.
