Berserk - More Than Just a Game

As others have said, the game is graphically very impressive and pushes the dreamcast to the limits. The cutscenes bespeak a much deeper plotline than is carried through in the game, however, and I decided to do a little research on it. Turned out that Berserk is a best-selling manga series (comic book) in Japan, and there was an animated series (25 episodes) released a few years ago. Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage is the entry point into a world of horror fantasy that is just breaking into North America.

This game is cool to the max,scenery is outstanding, music is to die for and the characters are interesting. The only thing that brings the enjoyment of the game down are the controls and limited items and weaponry. Forget about using the old D- pad my friends, the analog stick is the only way to get the job done. The gore and fighting scenes are to the extreme, though this guy swings a 7foot sword, which makes fighting in tight places a pain. At times, you will get fed up with most of the gameplay, because your chracter only has so many moves(which are quite slow)If only the makers of this game would have paid the same attention to the bare essentials of the game,as they did with the graphics, this game would be top notch.If you are a serious gamer such as myself, then I reccomend sticking to Soul Calibur.

This game has alot of gore and blood which is cool to see for a change. The gameplay can get a little repetitive and it's way to easy to win, but its fun to play. The sword is too big and gets caught on walls which is really annoying, especially when you are getting your fanny kicked. But overall, this is a fun game which I recommend if you like adventure games that don't pull any punches.

I rented this game and beat it within 4 hours, it was quite hard in some parts but not quite challanging. The graphics, sound, and voice acting is really good, and there is more blood and gore in it than I have ever seen on a console game! Baron Ballsack has a great name too! The only problem was that I didn't seem to be playing very often, there are too many cut scenes, and not enough fights. There could have been more weapons too. Worth Renting.

When it say for mature 17+, they meant it. With Guts 7-foot sword, you are bond to go berserk yourself. The game features: 30 types of grotesque enemies, each with unique and fearsome attacks; fight in two combat modes ( including the devastating Berserk rage), powerful combination moves and four weapons Guts possess; over 1 hour of engrossing cinematic movie sequences; superb high resolution graphics with fluid combat animations; quick time events within each level test reflexes and increae the action. This game is not for the faint at heart.

I enjoyed this game, but I beat it in two days. And not much time was spent on either day. Maybe a couple of hours at most. The gore is pretty cool, but there just isn't a lot of depth to this game. And to be honest the story [stunk]. I think if the game was maybe two or three times longer it would be much cooler.

This game is hard but good. It has one of the best storylines ever(next to Max Payne). You have 2 differant weapons the sword(the best one) and these little flying daggers. The flying daggers can go long range(witch you won't need in this game)but the sword can kill better. DO NOT get this game if you have a fear of blood.This game has the most blood in a game I ever seen. The reason why I got this game is because it was only for $5.00, but it should be for $40. Get this game RIGHT NOW!

Sword of the Berserk, one of the best anime games ever!

For those who have seen the anime ("Berserk"), surely know that it is a piece of art. Well, this game isn't different. "Gatsu" (original name of Guts) is in trouble again, and he must save his beloved Caska.

One important thing to remind is that this is a very violent adventure game, EXACTLY LIKE THE ANIME. This game was produced for the same creator of the anime, so the plot and the characters are VERY, VERY, VERY similar to the anime... which let you get involved in the history (Which by the way is told by many movies, very good movies).

The music? Just perfect... mixture of some songs of the anime (with a little of differences) and very deep in some parts. The music producer is the same from the anime... The only problem is that it has an end... and it is a little bit short if you are that kind of person who sit down for playing and doesn't get up until you almost go blind!

So, are you a berserk fan? Are you an anime fan? Are you at leat a dreamcast gamer who just loves the console? So, what are you waiting to buy this piece of ART???

A Must for Berserk Lovers

If you liked the anime and manga, this is just like a 'missing' episode. I did get tired of the 'kill kill kill' but it was worth it to see the story. The voice acting actually was pretty good and the animation was both gorgeous and scarey. movement was good.

If you like bloody, gorey action games, this is one such game. Its not exactly a roleplaying game - it is extremely linear - there are a couple of times when you can change paths a little but not much.

And watch the controller memory thingey - puck is usually in the window doing something weird.

One of the best Hack n slashers for the Dreamcast

Sword of the Berserk continues the adventure of Gutts. Before I say anything I like to note that this is based on one of my favorite animes BERSERK. This game may not make much of sence unless you read the manga or watch the Anime.

The story is in this is one of the best and it is also one of the best storylines in the berserk series. What's great about Sword of the Berserk is characters such as Zodd and Puck are in it which make this game really really cool. The ending credits is a little suprising too. If you loved the Anime then You'll love the game

The graphics in Sword of the Berserk are just Amazing. Everything is detailed and well made. I especially love the way they made Gutts look. And his Dragon Slayer looks better then ever. The level desighn is great as all the walls and trees ect are all greatly detailed. It's one of the best looking Dreamcast game out there.

The gameplay is pretty good for about 20 mintues then it gets old but it never looses it's touch. It is pretty frustrating later in the game but you will get the hang of it. The boss battles are laughably easy unless you battle Zodd in hard mode which is a pain in the ass then that is a different story.

The sound in this game is one reason I gave it a star. The sound and music is superb. Very great and ranks up with the anime soundtrack. I especially love the Forces mix song for this game.

The story in Sword of the Berserk is one of the best like I said before. You will love it especially if you love Berserk such as myself. It's just great.

Now I have another complaint about this game. It's a bit too short. You could beat the game less then 3 hours if you skip the cutscenes and everything. In other words..

3.5 out 5 Still it's a great game ruined by easy bosses lengh and other things.

By the way for anyone who has an imported PS2 there is a New Berserk game for PS2 which is 10 times better then Sword of the berserk Which alot of you fans should check out.
