Turok offers some fun, but a lot of frustration

I started playing this game to hopefully capture some of the N64 Turok magic. I really wanted to like it, but it fell short in key areas. The dinosaur knife kills are a fun perk, but as other reviewers mentioned, the turning is slow and the sensitivity isn't as good as Halo or COD4. I like a good challenge, but the checkpoint system was really frustrating. I don't like having to play a level for 20-30 minutes perfectly and then die before the next checkpoint because I didn't know how to destroy the boss on my first try. Also, I was disappointed that the game didn't have a co-op campaign mode on the same Xbox, or any splitscreen mode whatsoever.

Overall, Turok was well done in some sections but I think it fell short in key areas that would've made the game much more fun.

Nothing groundbreaking but worth a shot.

Turok is somewhat your run of the mill shooter it features no real new things done by first person shooters.Yes, there are new features we are not accustomed to but its nothing you should go out of your way to pick up.I purchased the game when it was $35 which is a reasonable price for this game.Much beyond that range though is a little steep for this game.The graphics are above average but its nothing to hold your grasp for too long though.Outside of the bow and the knife the weapons just seem watered down, there really weak and have no real function other than to stave you off until you can get some more arrows or in tight enough to use the knife.The multiplayer is also a very weak point its nothing worth righting home about.Its real laggy and relies more on luck than that persons true skill.

Overall this is a good title for $25-35 but much beyond that range is a little high.If you were a huge fan of the original like I am then you should definately check out Turok.

Great return to form by the dinosaur hunter. This is one of the best games for Xbox 360 with a strong single player and even better multiplayer. If you expect it to be exactly the same as the old games, you will be disappointed. But if you give it a chance you will find an amazing game with a great story, phenomenal graphics and amazing dinos. Buy it!

Disappointed isn't even the word to use when describing this..

Wow, I honestly don't think I could've found a better way to waste 50$ just short of tossing it down a toilet drain.

Horrible graphics, redundent gameplay over and over and over again, horrible weapon selection...

I could keep going and going, just do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on this despite how awesome you think it would be to get nostalgic and buy it because you owned it on N64.

Seriously.

I watched all the commercials, read all the reviews in magazines and was sold on all the hype for this game. Unfortunately after playing the game it seems I know what this team spent the majority of their money on. the knifing of enemies is not fluid at all you have to wait until the game tells you to swing the blade, unlike call of duty 4. the weapons are somewhat creative but there are too few to have fun with. gameplay is so redundant. online play is horrible, that is if you can connect and stay connected to a game. Don't buy all the hype.

I enjoyed it!!

This game is not too bad at all. I would have given it three stars if I wasn't playing on 720p-1080p. I originally purchased the ps3 version, then brought it back due to the controllers. The xbox 360 controllers are closer to the n64. Ending was somewhat disappointing, but the gameplay and movement thanks to the unreal engine were good. Overall if your a turok fan get this if your not only get this if you have an hdtv or flatscreen that renders 720-1080p.

Dont waste $$$ on This...

This game is not good at all. Good thing that i got it for free (as a present). I was hoping for something way better. The gameplay is dumb, you can keep on killing the dinosaurs with the special "knife move" over and over again (the move is ALWAYS the same, so it gets boring after about 3 kills lol). I havent finished the game, but i'm already bored as hell, i think im not even on the half way mark. The weapons suck too. I havent played the multiplayer, but i guess its gonna be bad as well. I wouldnt waste money on this game. If i dont like a game that much, at least i get some achievements. Well... not in this case, because i find it too boring to even get some achievement points out of it. Harsh review, but its true. I own COD 4, Rainbow, Gears, and they're sweet. Not TUROK though. Good luck if you buy this.

Better than Halo 3

Best PS3 game but not the best on XBox 360
a fun and great 1st person shooter with very good online
and it is fun to kill monters

Good concept, but terrible execution.
Unless you already have everything else this game isn't worth owning.
Reasonably good graphics, but terrible gameplay.
