Glad I didn't buy it

I rented this game from Blockbuster, because I thought the premise of the game sounded fantastic, but the preview video looked a little rough. Well the game turned out to be a little rough as well. PS2 style graphics, the bad guys will just charge you while you shoot them down. the list goes on and on... I played it for two days and took it back early. I am giving this 2 stars overall only because the "what if" history story is cool.

The online game play was pitiful as well.

Too bad because I think they creators had a great idea, just bad follow through.

Complete Letdown

This game was a complete letdown. I agree with the other reviewers that the story line was a good idea, but in the end it was presented horribly. I played through the first level and put the game back in its case due to dissapointment in graphics, motion and shooting. The game comes no where near close to pushing the envelope of the PS3. I regret spending the $60US to buy it.

Wait for the 19.99 Bin.

Upon starting Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, you can see right off the bat that this game is lacking in several categories. The graphics are flat out terrible. I feel like I'm playing a PS2 game at some points, though the background during game play are not all bad. As far as scenery goes, there were some moments that were cool (i.e. Zeppelin docked to the Tower Bridge in London) but everything else was fairly normal. This game also has a serious problem with loading, and believe me you'll know what I mean when you see it. You'll be walking and the game will stutter or stop for 2 or 3 seconds and then you'll keep going. It's flat out annoying.

Game play is not atrocious, but 2 things that did bother me.
1) Your trigger is R2 and to aim is L2, so if you are at all used to playing pretty much any other shooting genre of game, it's gonna take some getting used to. And you will die a lot from this, Because R1 (where the trigger should be) is your GRENADES, which don't go very far no matter how much you want them too.

2) When you stand in front of most things to activate them (e.g. an elevator button, a lever) You have to move around to find EXACTLY the right spot. There was more than on occasion when I activated a switch and I was standing OUTSIDE the elevator.

I would certainly rent the game for the sheer storyline (which I did) before you do anything. I also liked the cool Environmental dependent hand to hand situations you can have with the Nazi's (throwing them off a bridge, crushing them under trucks, etc.) Just complete the game on "easy," return it, and go buy Call of Duty 4.

I bougth the game for my son who finished the game in 4 days, this game wasn't hard enough for what I payed for. He is 11 year old kid and loves history, although is just a game he wanted to learn more how cruel were the nazis and I just wanted to know how it would be like, from another point of view, if the Nazis would win the WWII.

Defnitely a Let Down

This game was definitely a let down. I have yet to finish it, and I'm up in the air about if I want to invest the time in doing so.

The premise is great and honestly is what got me to buy this game in the first place, but that isn't able to out weigh everything else that is bad about the game.

The graphics are not in keeping with the PS3. The characters look like they were rendered for the PS2. Every enemy death is the same whether you shoot them in the leg or the head (good luck getting that aimed in). The explosions are just inserted animations with no area effects. At one point I shot an exploding barrel and after the explosion animation the other barrell right next to the original one was still there. The frame rate gets jumpy every once in awhile and the game stops completely to load a new area.

When you have shooterss like Resistance or Call of Duty 4, you can't get these things wrong. In fact if you want a shooter get either one of these especially COD4. Look for this game to soon fill the shelves of your favorite used video game store.

If you enjoy it for what it is and don't compare it to superior games...

I guess my title says it all, but I'll elaborate.

First if all, this game is far from perfect. If you are looking for another Call of Duty 4, look elsewhere (try COD4 again because it's in a class of its own). The game is, however, enjoyable. It's frustrating at times and in small doses, but still enjoyable if it is taken on its own and not compared to superior, one-of-a-kind games.

In the interest of fairness, I'll list the three best and three worst things about the game as I've encountered them thus far. Judge for yourself what outweighs what.

Best
1. Excellent, innovative story that blends history with imagination. It is also fun to play as a resistance fighter (against the odds all the way) with really bad aim :)
2. Nice rendering of real cities in chaos. Lots of explosions and sirens and far-off enemy advances and so on. The graphics are moot (neither breathtaking nor atrocious) but the atmosphere feels frenetic. Nice music, too.
3. The game has a brisk, albeit linear, pace. There are plenty of firefights, and missions take careful treading to finish.

Worst
1. Aiming and firing can be downright frustrating. It's good that firing continuously makes you lose some control (an attempt to simulate recoil), but there is a total lack of precision aiming. If you hit an enemy in the head (good luck), it's the same as hitting him in the leg. Something just feels off about shooting, a real problem for a first-person SHOOTER.
2. The frame rate jumps occasionally. Not a big deal, but it wrecks some otherwise tense moments.
3. You can kill every enemy soldier with grapple/melee attacks. I know Dan Carson is a hardened New Yorker from the mean streets, but come on. He can overpower and kill trained Nazi soldiers without so much as a struggle. Either develop melee fighting or junk it. In fact, junk it to focus on fixing the firing interface.

My score: 7/10 (with COD4 as a 10 and Medal of Honor Airborne as a 5), most definitely worth playing if you enjoy basic FPS combat with an historic twist

Definitely a Turning Point

I was really looking forward to this game. I had read the reviews and thought the premise was awesome, then I played it.

Well, the premise of the game is still good. Nazi's attack America after defeating England in WW2. The graphics look like they still believe it is the 1990's and the PS2 is new. I saw the video trailer, which IS a good representation of the game, and thought that that must be the "work in progress". I was wrong. There is nothing that makes me think that this game is even pushing the envelope of what the PS3 is capable of. The weapons are not as realistic looking as COD4 and the enemies look like they fell out of Wolfenstein.

I have yet to finish the game...not sure if it will keep me interested enough. With a whopping 8 person multiplayer (This is a joke), I might have to go back to COD4.

My biggest regret with this game is convincing my friend to buy it too.

If you like FPS's then stick to COD.
