This game is awsome. There are legends like Nolan Ryan, Mike Schimdt and many more. The pitching is realistic and you can play the game like you're watching it on tv.The thing I hate about this game is that when the other team gets a hit and you're fielding The guy takes so long to get it out of his glove and throw it in. But this game is way better then asb 2004 and high heat 2004. I would buy this if i was you.

THIS IS A GREAT BASEBALL. ITS DIFFICLUT WITHOUT BEING FRUSTRATING. THE GRAPHICS ARE REALLY GOOD BUT NOT GREAT. PITCHING IS REALISTIC AS IS FIELDING. ITS CHALLENGING AND FUN. THE ONE ANNOYING THING IS THE COMMENTARY WHICH AT TIMES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENED ON A PLAY. DEFINATLY WORTH A BUY ESPECIALLY IF YOU DONT WANTTO SPEND THE MONEY FOR A 2004 GAME.
WISH I RENTED IT FIRST

I shelled out $43 bucks for this game, because i was looking for a baseball game to balance my ps2 collection. Big Mistake. I mean i really tried and tried with this game, afterall i payed good money for it and I Love Baseball. No go every time. All these 5 star reviews about how awesome the gameplay is: you can't even adjust the hitter's position in the batter's box for god sakes. Goes to show you, there's nothing like trying something out for yourself and seeing if you like it first before dropping an investment on it.

World Series Baseball, Sega's annual baseball offering, has finally passed Acclaim's All-Star Baseball in overall quality.
Let me start by saying that I have been a big fan of the All-Star series until this year. While WSB2K3 doesn't have the graphical polish or ultra-smooth gameplay of the ASB series, it does have a TON of options and statistics, and that's what I'm looking for. WSB is great because it lets you decide how much control you want. In the default franchise mode you are limited by a draconian salary cap. Don't like it? That's OK, you can assign any player to any team at any time to circumvent the problem. Not happy with the accuracy of your favorite pitcher? No problem, just change his ratings and you'll be all set. WSB is full of examples like these of great customization options to suit your tastes.
The game plays great too. Unlike ABS, it's difficult to hit home runs in this game. This small difference between the two competitors gives WSB a much more accurate simulation feel. Fielding is crisp, but not as tight as in ASB.
The statistical tracking is excellent. The game tracks all of the normal stats, in addition to individual user stats. For example, WSB has informed me that I suck at hitting high fastballs. Also, I swing at balls 60% of the time. That's the kind of detail I love.
World Series Baseball, your choice for serious options.

This is an excellent game! The graphics are great and the gameplay is perfect. There are only a few bad things about the game. The extra uniforms are great and some are very awesome. You can control the players very easily. The views of the stadiums are beautiful. Here are the pros and cons.
Pros
gameplay
graphics
create a player mode (you are able to make the player perfect in every way!)
extra uniforms for each team
options can make the game very easy, easy, medium, tough, or impossible
being able to adjust the rosters... without having to trade players
stadiums are nice
replays are realistic
easy to control the players
Cons
announcers - very annoying, say the same things over and over again (but you can turn the option off)
players' faces need improvement... they are all the same
batting stances are horrible... they are all the same... not like the players at all
no create a team mode
Anyway, get this game... I promise you won't be dissapointed!!!
The best sports game yet created!

I love baseball, and I am a huge fan of it. And of course, I wanted a baseball game for my PS2. Now, don't get me wrong, there are many baseball games to choose from out there. You have MVP Baseball 2003, All-Star Baseball, and the just plain stupid MLB Slugfest by Midway. Honestly, I don't know who would like the Midway sports titles, but that's another story. My point is, stacked up against all of the other baseball, title World Series Baseball 2k3 is by far the best. Yes, this game does put gameplay way ahead of presentation, but does that matter? The graphics are passable, but the gameplay is out of this world! When I had All-Star Baseball 2003, the game was fun, but I rarely played, and when I did, I found myself quitting the game after maybe four or five innings. WSB 2k3 was playale for ages. I play probably two games a day now. I love it that much! It is another superb title from Sega Sports, and should be bought by any baseball lover. My Rating-9.1.
Very very disappointing

What a let down.... The intro is horrible, its a mix of "in game" replays, all blocky and no real videos of players. Then the game graphics is just AVERAGE. LOW FRAME RATE. The fielding, throwing, running, and all the motions are done well, looks very realistic. The replay is cool. However for some reason the game just seems CHOPPY.
The sound is bad, the ping or pong or sound of connecting the bat to the baseball is cheapy. The broadcasters are cool especially Rex "The Wonder Dog" Hudler, LOL, its a trip hearing his voice every time, this is one of the good things. Then when you start a game, it shows the players warming up on the field up close and the game starts, there is NO picture shot of the stadium! HUGE let down here. Then when you are fielding, the game goes back to "normal" game mode in 2 secs after the fielding is "done". So you CAN'T run around and check out the stadium in 360 fashion, since there is no stadium pics of any kind, you don't get to know the stadiums on this game! It fails to deliver "cool I can check out how the stadiums are," FORGET it! Then all the players looks the same, same thickness except for minor different stances. The player faces are mostly wrong except for few players which sega concentrated on.
The roster system is bad, after you make trades you can't set batting orders except during starts of each new game, and often the game says that you have "illegal roster(s)" and you have to "fix" them but one click of the button, very confusing cuz you dont know "what happened" to your team rosters and the manual dont help. The camera option is super horrible, you can only toggle pitcher/batter view for 1player vs computer games and NOT for 1player vs 1player. Basically after a baseball is hit the TV screen switches to the field view and the TV screen goes back to the normal game view in 2 secs, and since there is NO camera option for fielding, all you see is hit and field part, you dont ever get to see the ENTIRE ball travel; Also as a fielder you dont get to see the ball "coming" at you. The gameplay is decent. Overall this game is very average verging on crab cake. This is is even worse than some PS one baseball games such as the sony one. I made the wrong choice by not buying EA one...
Great, but not perfect

If you like to customize and micro-manage a team and carry it all the way to the World Series, this is the game for you. From the player's uniform # to the color bat he uses, WSB offers the most customization out of any sports game I've ever played. Saving in-game, pitching from a normal TV cam, and great replays are some highlights. Many players' batting stances are way off, but they are changeable. The sound and commentating [are bad]. However, the graphics are good, the ESPN presentation rules, and fielding is fun. Definitely recommended!
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!

Ok,I'll tell you why this is a bad baseball game. First, the graphics are not to great. Almost all of the players look the same and don't even look like the players in real life. The stadiums are not great either. I only rented this game once and I got tired of playing this game after two days. I don't know why people like Sega Sports games because they are not good at all. A good thing about this game that I liked were the rosters, because they are the most updated. Also there are not a lot of features in this game as in other baseball games. This game is not worth [money]. Before buying it I would rent this game. I think the best baseball game would be AllStar Baseball 2004. If you are a real baseball fan, get this game. I already have this game and it is the best baseball game I ever played. The graphics are great, the gameplay is great, and there are so many more features than any baseball game! Don't hesitate to buy this game and if you don't buy it, you will regret it.
