this game is really fun. it has lots of things to do inclunding games such as bowling and darts where you hurl your driver through the window. the ragdoll physics in this game are funny because your driver looks as if he was made of jello. the tracks are never the same and highly destructable. this is one of the best racing games since burnout 3.

This game was not nearly as good as I thought it would be. There are great mini games, which involve you: hitting a bullseye, doing a highjump, bowling, all with a guy.In most of the events, you simply ride your car near something and hold and release R1. This was not too much fun to do. Anyways here' my review.
I had great antisipation towards this game, thinking it would be the best game around, but i was wrong.
Graphics: 4.5/5. This i probably the games high point. The dirt and water effects are sweet, and when you crash your car. The bad graphics are when your guy flies out of your car he looks very cheap. ( bad graphics. ) and sometimes the screen flickers, giving ME a headache.
Sound: 2.5/5. Ahh I hated the music in this game. The music is not very poppy, rocky, or good in any way. The songs are all horrible, and all you hear in this game is that, and engine revings.
Controls: 3/5. The controls are okay, but they take time to get used to, and when you turn, you can easily and you usally do, go from about 70 MPH to about 30 MPH on every turn.
Fun: 3/5. This game was simply not that great. I mean there are ragdoll physics in this game, but it just didn't entertain me. The races all suck, the only good part of this game is the mini-games; which are single player; and there is no online play at all. I wouldn't recommend this game unless you have a cravin' for ragdoll physics, like most people. So this is worth a rental, and not a buy.

Flat-Out is a very fun game. I liked it particularly due to the fact that the driving is quite exciting. The cars are cool, handling and steering is quite responsive, all in all, very fun.
If there's a draw-back, and mind you it's only a small one at that...it would be that there's virtually no decent 'instructions' or explanation on how to take part in the non-racing events. It's a lot of fun, hurling your virtual car driver's character out the windshield at things like dart boards, nets, ect. The biggest problem we encountered, is figuring out how to do those things properly. Oh, yes, the instruction manual that accompanies the game does guide you on how to do these events, but it's descriptions on the controls, and how to successfully 'launch' the driver out of the car are a bit vague.
It very well could be sufficient for most others, I don't know, it just seemed to me that they'd be a little more specific in their instructions on how to launch. But as I mentioned, that's not a biggie... I'm quite sure most people who buy & play Flat-Out will find they're 100% better at figuring out that part than I am. I need more practice, so it's off to play more Flat-Out ! You'd enjoy it..if ya like being rewarded for causing property damage & throwing a geeky-looking driver through the windshield..headlong into anything that gets in your way !

Boring sums up Flatout in one word. Just plain boring. More than likely you'll play it just for the bonus modes, where you hurl your driver into things like bowling pins or a dartboard, but the fun in that lasts all of ten minutes and then you're wondering why you even started playing it. The only other mode in the game, the racing mode, is even worse. Since the only thing that sets Flatout apart from EVERYTHING else is the ragdoll physics, which you've already gotten bored with in the bonus modes, the racing is only fun for all of five minutes. It would be another story if the ragdoll physics were in a game like Burnout 3, but Flatout fails very badly by relying solely on them.

I was sooo looking forward to this game because I already went through 4 careers of Eve of Destruction and wanted something a little bit more. BOY was I disappointed! With all the hype about realistic crashes and the ragdoll effect, which are great in and of themselves, but you don't get enough of the flying off ramps and demolition aspect of the game. It's more of an out of control flying off the road into a bunch of stuff and getting money for breaking stuff, (let me make this clear) but NOT for crashing into opponents cars! WHAT?!
Basically, this is a racing game where the cars get damaged and you get points for running into obstacles and breaking them (once again, but not your opponents cars). And for being a "pro" racing gamer myself, once you get past the bronze level, these races get very difficult! Super fast and forget about control. Cars go flying off the track (even with the top end tires and suspension, and as much as that is realistic, it can be frustrating) and you have to make sure and upshift to prevent doing doughnuts over and over. Can be very frustrating at times when you're trying to catch up to the leader. I've learned to brake early and power slide, but it takes alot of patience to play this game. And as another reviewer stated, the bonus games are fun, but all of the ragdoll games are the same... you drive fast and hit R1 to throw your dude as far and straight as you can, that's the whole premise.... the ONLY highlight of this game, my favorite was the actual demolition bonus game, but with the cars flying around the track sooo fast, it's sometimes hard to strategize or plan a crash, they all seem to just happen, AND the tires and other obstacles on the track can P me off because your car gets stuck on them and you can't move! Then you have to hit triangle to move your car to a fresh position, like I did ALOT during the actual racing also. And also the radar in the demolition bonus game that is supposed to help you locate opponents is messed up, hard to explain. BUT the demolition arena bonus game is still the highlight of the game.
Otherwise, you can only have one car at a time, your car miraculously fixes itself after every race, and after the bronze round, the racing speed really gets out of hand along with the difficulty.

(played the game for about 3 days and I'm tired of it as compared to Eve of Destruction where I rented it for a week, and then bought it about 3 months ago and NEVER get tired of playing!)
When will there be a Test Drive: Eve of Destruction 2???
Even Destruction Derby Arenas is better than Flatout!
Test Drive: Eve of Destruction I rate an A+
Destruction Derby Arenas I rate a B
Flatout gets a total rating of ~C
Flatout flatout sucks

Don't buy this game because you will forever wonder why you did so. This is the worst racing game I have ever played. The bonus games are crap and are all the same thing. If this was even a decne tgame there would be a reason to play the bonus games. But, there's not. Sure you get money, but with the best car in the game fully upgraded (why did I waste my time) you can't tell a difference in the race from a crap car. All the upgrades do is take your money and waste your time.
The actual racing is just as bad. Sometimes when you hit a cone you will keep right on going and even get extra in your boost guage. Other times I have gone flying off the track because of a single cone. I don't know why and at this point I really don't care because of how bad this game is.
The races beyond the very first ones are way too difficult. It is more luck than skill. In other words, there is almost no way to get first and you will only get in the top 3 if the other players take themselves out because their cars beat the best and fully upgraded car off the line and can turn corners in about half the time without losing speed. All you can do is watch them drive away and see more of your life wasted.
Oh and one last thing, the shortcuts suck. They are not shortcuts and usually end up taking longer because it is like threading a needle and with the handling that's like trying to thread a needle no hands. If you even stray a little from the exact route, you will be out of bounds and have to reset. If you hit anything, even going very slow, you will be thrown from your car and lose time. If you do manage to do it right you might still come out behind where you were. I have only found 3 races out of 75, or whatever it is, that actually have a shortcut that is worth taking. And by worth taking I mean doesn't lose you time and doesn't gain it either. Talk about a crap game. Please consider some other options to this game such as:
1) Nothing
2) Buy some food
3) Buy a plane ticket to beat up the people who made the game.
Bottom line: NOT FUN and really really NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY (even to rent). Don't borrow it either, it's a waste of time.
A rootin tootin wild fun ride.

This game is ok. Not the best out there. For the price it was good. With extra bonus level you can get a good amount of enjoyment. Codes add to this. Enter giveall, givemoney and then ragdoll as name to unlock stuff. If you want to have more fun go out and get burnout3 or newer they are more fun.
