The playstation greatest hit gets a near face lift with all of the challenges added and the add on packs. A nice controller and the great interface stay the same. Despite, lacking some more graphics up date it shines on as being one of the greatest survival horror games ever. What makes this game shine is being able to unlock certain options that the others lack. As for the three star ranking what tears that down is the factors that despite being a great game this is the DreamCast not the PlayStation some graphic face lifts would have been nicer. Seeing the lips move, watching the zombies crumble as they walk, and being able to tread blood on the floor as you walk. Don't call it sick but those little things are what set this apart from say Silent Hill 2. Had the technology just did not use it right.
The best RE2 port ever....besides maybe N64

It's kind of late for me to write this review...both the Dreamcast and the PS1 are long dead and gone. I bought this game when it 1st came out on the PS1 and just loved it. Like any other RE junky I bought every port they crapped out just because I love this game so much and any extra is worth the price. The graphics are very dated by todays standards, but they are very clean and polished, unlike the old PS1 and the very crappy GameCube port I bought for 20 dollars more. Plus there are a little bit of extras. You can view all the movies, concept art, character models, etc. Which may not be a big deal to most people, but I like that stuff and just coming off the PS1 dual shock version this blew me away. I sold my Dreamcast *sniff sniff* and my N64 so I could buy an XBOX and own all 3 of the new gen systems. I miss this port a great deal, and can't even stomach the GC one. As far as the game goes...who hasn't played this game? It is my favorate RE of all time. Though if you never played it on PS1 and are really used to these new fangled graphics of today, this game is gonna look like crap to you and won't be much of an experiance. You just had to be there back in '98 when this was state of the art...but if you are looking for the ultimate port of this game, look no further. The N64 had some extra files that are absent from this version but who cares? This is by far the best looking port besides the PC. I know this isn't much of a review, but i'm reviewing it as a port of a classic game. And this game is a classic.
really outdated

simply put, this and code veronica are the best dreamcast games. i loved veronica for the challenge, but i still haven't beat it. I'm stuck at the stupid tryant on the plane part and cant figure out how to knock the eight foot tall freak off the plane! (lol) But i also liked re2 because not only is the story great, but once you beat there's a different story that you could beat again with claire or leon. How many other games have that?
