Spiderman Spiderman What a Concept Spiderman

This review I am doing with the assistance of my 10 yr old... This game is great. The only bad point is camera control is non-existant. You can only look where they let you. The graphics and scenery is stunning and the villians rock. The best thing about this game is that the 2nd player can come in and out as they please. Meaning, if little brother begs to play and then gets bored with it, you don't have to reset the game. Just let him opt out on the pause screen and you are back to the game.
My son has completed the game twice and keeps playing it, He usually finishes a game and it is back to the video store, but not this one. Highly recommend for kids and adults that love Spider-Man and his Villians.

Disappointingly lame

Spider-Man has tended to have a pretty decent track record over the past few years in the video game arena, with the earlier released Spider-Man 3 being the only real disappointment. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe attempts to put a different spin on the Spidey/brawler formula, but sadly, the end result is pretty disappointing, and above all, it's pretty lame. Friend or Foe begins with an interesting enough premise: someone is using symbiote-controled villains to wreak havoc, and head of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury has recruited Spidey to take them on and team up with his various rogues in an attempt to take down the mystery villain behind it all. Teaming up with the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and more? It sounds great on paper, but what kills Friend or Foe is how ungodly boring the game's action elements are. Beat up one group of baddies, move on to another, repeat. This is basically the whole concept of Friend or Foe. Now I like beat 'em up's as much as the next guy, but Friend or Foe is so easy to breeze through and filled with a number of technical glitches that you'll be left wondering why you picked the game up in the first place. I know the PS2 is showing it's age more than ever these days, but Friend or Foe offers a choppy frame rate, fuzzy graphics, and overly bland environments. There are some secret rooms and hidden features to find, and the voice acting is pretty good as well, but as far as positives go, that's all she wrote. All in all, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is a disappointingly lame and overly boring beat 'em up that fails to live up to the promise of the license.

There is fun to be had

First of all, I want to address to everyone that is reading that this game was designed for a much younger audience in mind. I believe adults or older teens looking for the more mature Spidy game that followed the recent movie plots should take that in consideration. The title's core gameplay consists of Spider-man and a teammate fighting a bunch of creatures who are under the command of a mysterious enemy. You do nothing else but fight and that is where the problem lies. Maybe the developer wanted to keep it as simple as possible. What is good about the game is that there is a range of Spider-Man's most notable villains that you can play as. Most of their "special" moves are refreshing. You earn tokens to buy more of Spider-Man's webbing abilities. You can also upgrade your sidekicks as well. And as one reviewer pointed out, the co-op play deserves credit in the fact that if your partner playing along side of you decides they want to quit, they can do so without losing your game. It is all in the pause menu. I think this is a good rental since beating the game isn't difficult, but playing as some of the other characters are fun. In my opinion, Blade was pretty cool and he should get his own adventure title with all of his arsenal and abilities. Scorpion had some awesome moves in this game and lets not forget about Sandman.

2007 has not been good to Peter Parker

First there was the colossal train wreck that was Spider-Man 3, and now there's this, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe; nothing but a bad attempt to cash in on the semi-popularity of the Legends games.

You get one partner, one, that's it. So, if you get tired of doing the same moves over & over again with Spider-Man, hey, switch on over to the Prowler, or better yet Black Cat, good golly.

The voice acting sucks something fierce and I don't think you even possess the ability to control the camera, which is fantastic.

I played this to play as the villains, which I did get to do, briefly playing, eventually to my disdain, as Doctor Octopus, but the game's massive amount of monotony just lead me to stop playing after about half an hour.

Here's a tip; just make a Legends type game with the villains as the main characters, no good guys, just villains, and maybe it won't be as huge of a disappointment as this (or Ultimate Spider-Man).

Pass.

I HAVE PLAY THIS GAME FOR TWO DAYS AND I LOVE THE WAY YOU CAN PLAY AS SPIDERMAN, BLACKCAT, AND CHARACTERS.I HAVE PLADY A LIT OF SPIDERMAN GAMES AMD I LIKE SPIDERMAN 2000.FOR PS1.AND SPIDERMAN FRIEND OF FOE PS2. THESE GAMES ARE VERY VERY COOL GAMES.

My children LOVED this game. They are 4 and 6 and they beat it in a few days of non stop play (and yes I am a horrible parent and I let them play for hours on end during the school holiday!) ha..ha....
It is a great game for the beginner or younger child but I wouldn't recommend it for an expert video game player. This is a fun game and even though my children made it to the end they still keep going back to play it :0) I had to give it 4 stars though because now my children have started to play other games and they just don't understand why they actually die now :0)

Like it has been said earlier, this game is desgined for the kids and that is just great. My boys enjoy it and I like it too. I look forward to a sequel or mabe a Marvel ultimate alliance variation.

I bought mine for $19.99 at TRU during their Doorbuster's sale. It was good game at a great price.

My grandson has not quit playing this game since he opened this present Christmas eve. He has called me 3 times to tell me how much he loves it.
